Savage 2: A Tortured Soul

Ok, so I've been playing this game for awhile and it pretty much kicks ass, a bit of information, if you want to get straight into it go to http://savage2.s2games.com/main.php
Setting: Steampunk world where humans fight beast/furries in a neverending war of awesomeness. Beasts tend to rely on magic while humans have technology, though human priests are also magic reliant.
Gameplay: FPS/RTS/third person melee
It's mostly a melee game, ranged combat is generally inferior to melee with the exception of the Revenant and Summoner units. It also has some RPG elements in that you can buy items and by completing achievements you can unlock persistent items that you can carry between games. In each game, one player on each team must be the commander. The commander constructs buildings, controls workers, and buffs his team. Everyone else picks a class and fights on the ground. Information about classes can be found on the website.

The melee combat runs on a rock paper scissors system, primary click is attack, secondary is interrupt, and third mouse button is block. It goes Attack < Block < Interrupt < Attack, Interrupt breaks block, deals damage, and applies a stun if it lands, but if it misses you leave yourself open as interrupt animations are long. In all honesty, playing commander in this game requires superb people skills and patience, if you piss people off they will not listen to you and rate you as a 1 when you lose due to said players being pissy. It's like trying to micro in starcraft, but all of the units don't pay attention to anything you tell them to do and they talk back.

It's really a fun game, and you can do a free trial which grants you the great bulk of the game but doesn't let you use special features such as hellborn units (which you can unlock by getting lots of kills and building a hellshrine), levels, or items. Be sure to put Kietharr under the referal field if you decide to sign up . It's at least worth a whirl if you're at all interested, though melee combat takes some practice to get good at.
