NU Sawk

[OVERVIEW]
Although Sawk sports better Attack and Speed than Passimian, its lack of U-turn leaves it unable to do much versus defensive Slowbro, and its reliance on Close Combat for wallbreaking leaves it easily taken advantage of by Pokemon like Xatu, Comfey, and Rotom. Additionally, although Sturdy can be utilized to provide aid against revenge killers, Sawk's poor bulk compounded with a lacking defensive typing makes it difficult to get Sawk safely onto the field. Sawk is also extremely prediction-reliant, since its coverage moves often fail to threaten Pokemon they aren't super effective against.

This set makes switching into Sawk's Close Combat difficult for any Pokemon that doesn't resist it. Additionally, Sawk can increase its wallbreaking power with an Adamant nature instead of Jolly at the cost of no longer outspeeding Choice Specs Vanilluxe. Mold Breaker is the preferred ability so that Sawk can hit Weezing with Earthquake, although Sturdy prevents Sawk from being easily revenge killed by faster threats like Vivillon and Choice Specs Heliolisk. However, Sawk is an inferior choice to Passimian due to the latter's access to U-turn, which makes it a great pivot while also being a solid wallbreaker. Sawk also faces competition from Medicham, which has a secondary STAB in Psychic and is much stronger thanks to its ability Pure Power.
