SS OU Scarf Arctovish Rain Offense. Looking for suggestions on refining this team!

Hi, this is my first RMT, I have been playing Pokemon since the very end of X and Y, and this gen more than ever, I feel like rain has a lot of potential. Except for Mega Swampert. Currently the team is struggling against strong grass mons specifically Rillaboom's grassy glide. The team also struggles breaking through beefy mons like ferrothorn, Scizor, and Toxapex. More the first two. I also believe I am missing a good hurricane abuser. The team has no defogger ATM, but with HO it is not as much need. (Except for against stall) The only request for the suggestions is to keep arctovish, as it is crazy satisfying to blow away something with fishoues rend. Now here's the team:

image.png

Arctovish @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Fishious Rend
- Icicle Crash
- Freeze-Dry
- Psychic Fangs

As mentioned earlier, Arctovish can blow through almost any mon if it is faster than, there for scarf is needed. Fishous rend in the rain 2 hit KO's the likes of mandibuzz, Blissey, and any mon that swaps in will get blown away. (Except ferro and pex) Fishous rend is really the only useful move, icicle crash for coverage against grass types, and freeze dry is for the occasional water absorb matinee and seismatoad, as it can 2 hit both of these. Psychic fangs is also for the occasional screens team as it breaks through them.

image.png

Pelipper @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Roost
- U-turn
- Hurricane

Nothing to special about this pelliper. It is the back up semi-check to Rillaboom if Scizor goes down. Hurricane also for rillaboom, scald as a stab rain boosted move, roost to keep pelliper healthier for long. Damp rock is needed for the mandatory 8 turns of rain. U turn is the main reason Pelliper is used over pollitoed, providing momentum and easy way to start the rain sweeping fun!

image.png

Zeraora @ Magnet
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 24 Atk / 232 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Thunder
- Volt Switch
- Close Combat
- Grass Knot

Zeraora is a thunder abuser on this team and wall breaker. Magnet powers up the thunders while allowing it to still swap moves, life orb is not used to hopefully increase longevity of it. The specific ev spread is used so close combat will 2hit KO max physical defense Blissey. Volt switch is for momentum, and grass knot is for hippjwdown and the occasional seismatoad. Volt absorb also provides a much needed electric immunity.

image.png

Scizor @ Leftovers
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 124 Def / 136 SpD
Impish Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Roost
- Superpower

Scizor is the main Rillaboom counter on this team. With the ev spread, it maximizes its mixed tanking capabilities. In rain Scizor has only a 2x weakness to fire, which is manageable. Bullet lunch is used to revenge kill certain mons when rain is not set up, like dragapult. U turn is for momentum, which is the main reason it is used over ferrothorn. Roost along side leftovers are used to keep it healthy through the battle, and superpower is used to cover the lack of fighting on this team.

image.png

Kingdra @ Choice Specs
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Draco Meteor
- Hurricane
- Surf

Kingdra is the heavy weight champion in rain teams. With specs boosted damage, it can break through near any team. Hydro pump is for the big damage on most mons. Draco meteor is coverage for dragons like kommo-o. Hurricane is coverage against bulky grass types, like venasaur. Surf is used in the last slot as a guaranteed way to damage something. The ev spread is standard.

image.png

Seismitoad @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Earth Power
- Ice Punch
- Stealth Rock

Seismitoad isn't any mega swampert, but it has to do. It provides the needed ground coverage, while also providing another electric immunity. Hydro pump and earth power are powerful stabs and ice punch is physical coverage for bulky grass types and dragons. Seismitoad is the only stealth rocker on this team, but it is fine because stealth rocks aren't essential. Leftovers are used to keep it alive longer, as it commonly has to swap into certain threats.

Closing Thoughts

This is my first ever RMT, and by writing it has made me respect in depth RMT and analysis more. This team suffers from the aforementioned threats, but overall is so fun to play. Zeroara or Kingdra feel like the week points to me, but I might be wrong. Again, arctovish is the only mon I really want on the team, and I felt as if rain would be the best archetype to play with it in.

The one biggest threat so far is: Rillaboom

Rillaboom's Grassy Surge and Grassy Glide destroys 3 of your very important mons: Kingdra, Arctovish, and Seismitoad. Grassy Glide gets +1 priority whenever used in the Grassy Terrain, you would have to replace your mon with a flying type bulky enough to withstand his attacks, or a mon tanky enough to stall him until his Grassy Terrain is over.

Overall, the team is pretty good!

I totally agree, Rillaboom is a huge threat to this team, after posting this, I have tried replacing zereora with rotom-fan, and it did perform slightly better. Do you have any suggestions on what mon should be used and what should be replaced? Thanks!

Dont worry, I'll come back to this soon!

I like the Rotom-Fan love, but in all seriousness if you want to counter Rillaboom, use Mandibuzz. Foul Play will 2HKO after a Swords Dance from Rillaboom along with +1 Defense from Grassy Terrain Seed. Mandibuzz can eat every attack from Rillaboom. Rillaboom's Grassy Glide will do (17.7 - 21.2%) without a Swords Dance, and Mandnibuzz can use Foul Play for (52.7 - 62.4%). Essentially, Rillaboom cannot 1v1 Mandibuzz and win because Mandibuzz 2HKOs every encounter.

Shout-out to zedhatool for the Mandibuzz set.

Mandibuzz (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 248 HP / 200 Def / 44 SpD / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Foul Play
- Defog
- U-turn
+2 252+ Atk Mandibuzz Foul Play vs. +1 0 HP / 4 Def Rillaboom: 241-285 (70.6 - 83.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery

It’s ez just get a good bulky flying type that can do damage to Rillaboom

I totally agree that a physdef Mandibuzz is one of your best switch ins for tanking even a choice band wood hammer. Even with a crit, the max roll is 60% which you can roost off and u-turn out. Otherwise, there is this unorthodox Volcarona rain set I've heard about. You can risk a flame body burn and then quiver+hurricane. Solid team bro!

Thank you so much everybody, the Mandibuzz set really worked well on the team, and kept momentum really well, I swapped knock off for superpower, and it works well, again thank you! Here is the new team:
