National Dex Scarf Jirachi + Sub Gyarados BO

Scarf Jirachi + Sub Gyarados BO

So I wanted to build around scarf Jirachi because 1, I hate fun, and 2, healing wish is a really cool move.

Skill :) (Jirachi) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 144 HP / 252 Atk / 112 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Healing Wish
- Trick

My scarf Jirachi‘s job is to be speed control, make my opponents forfeit, take a few hits from scary threats, and then healing wish, probably to MGyara. Iron head is there to be STAB, but thanks to Serene Grace, it has a doubled chance to make my opponents delete their account. U turn is there because no matter how what coverage you pick, there’s a steel resist that can switch in, so it’s best to just get out of there. Healing wish, if used properly, can make a 6v6 into a 7v6, but even if not used under perfect circumstance, it’s near impossible to stop and most teams struggle to beat MGyara twice. Trick can be amazing against more defensive teams, especially against Ferrothorn and Toxapex. EVs are to outspeed Scarf Lele, and then max attack and rest in bulk.

Gyarados-Mega @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute
- Waterfall
- Crunch

I was looking for an abuser of Healing Wish, and I didn’t like Mchomp for this role that well, so I chose a different setup sweeper, Mega Gyarados. MGyara has amazing coverage with just stabs, so I can use the obligatory Dragon Dance and also Substitute, so I can turn a status attempt into free setup. Unfortunately for this mon, every teams required Ash Greninja check often annoys it, as does Z Kommo-o and PhysDef Pex. In addition, certain metal bird variants stop my stall 6-0. I will often stay unevolved for a bit because of the cool typing and ability, which also lets me play mind games. EVs are pretty normal.

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 52 Def / 192 SpD / 20 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Earthquake
- U-turn

I really needed an electric immune that could handle Koko, and I need defog support too. Gliscor generally acts as a defensive stop to everything here and keeps rocks off for Gyarados. EVs are what I believe is the standard these days, but I might be wrong.

BulkSynth (Tapu Bulu) @ Rockium Z
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 220 HP / 96 Atk / 48 SpD / 144 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Horn Leech
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge

It pretty clear that my team is massively Metal bird weak, and also has problems with Ash-Greninja. Tapu Bulu is here to check Ash-Gren, provide grassy terrain, and lure every steel type under the sun. I have no idea what this EV spread does but someone gave it to me. Grassy terrain is nice, especially for Jirachi, but it also means that defensive Gliscor can’t break Gyarados’ sub. Name is to bait more easily.

Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]

The team still has a bad matchup vs steels, and no way to reliably kill pex, which is annoying. Magnezone can trap and remove most steels and obliterates pex to boot. Jirachi is super useful for baiting in steels and u turning on them.

Blissey (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Seismic Toss
- Soft-Boiled
- Teleport

Finally, my catch all special check, Blissey. It really just does it all, and sets rocks for me, which helps a lot in letting MGyarados clean lategame. I was worried about being too passive without toxic/wave, but it can usually work. Sassy nature to survive 2 kyurem focus blasts.

Landorus: Fly Z always gets a free kill, anything else can be walled by gliscor and beaten with boosted Gyarados waterfalls or baiting with Magnezone flash cannon. Non stone edge can be messed with by not megaing Gyarados immediately
Clefable: Jirachi handles most CM Clef, as does magnezone. At 95%, max def clef will get 2hkod by +1 Gyarados Waterfall
Corviknight: Bait with Bulu, trap with zone
Chomp: Bulu, Gliscor, most of the team with terrain support
Gliscor: Beat with boosted Bulu or Gyarados. Utility sets cannot break MGyarados’ sub with terrain up
Greninja: Blissey, Bulu, even MGyara in a pinch
Heatran: Gliscor, MGyarados. Bulu can CC on the switch
Kartana: Bulu for non Smart Strike, Jirachi can help in dancing around it
Mawile: Offensive pressure, Gliscor, magnezone, MGyara to revenge, a lot of praying
Pex: Trick Jirachi, Gliscor, Magnezone

Hi, I think this is a really solid team concept that you have, but I have some issues with some of the mon choices you made, but ill try and change as little as possible

:tapu-bulu: :gyarados-mega: :jirachi:
Bulu + Mega Gyarados is a really solid offensive core, and when paired with HWish support it becomes extremely threatening.

The final 3 mons of :

:magnezone: :gliscor: :blissey:

-is something I really dislike because you dont need Magnezone, especially when you have Tapu Bulu that lures and kills it Corv and Skarmory, as well fast Skarm beating zone anyways, so it doesnt really help much. Defog Bliss + Glisc is extremely passive for these sorts of teams, and the defensive core as a whole struggles versus Rillaboom and Grass-types in general

:landorus-therian: :corviknight: :tapu-fini:

Whirlpool Tapu Fini was something i loved pairing with Mega Gyarados on these non HO teams, as it just removes the likes of Toxapex completely, easing the matchup. Corviknight, although being another steel synergises well with it as it checks the Grass-types that broke the team with ease before, as well as provided Defog since Fini didnt have it. Smack Down Rocks Lando provides a secondary barrier vs the likes of Mega Lop and Mega Medicham as those also could easily break the previous defensive core, and Smack Down helps force out and weaken Corv, Skarm and Zapdos for Mega Gyarados.

:jirachi: :gyarados-mega: :tapu-bulu: :landorus-therian: :corviknight: :tapu-fini:

Some minor changes I made to the initial core:

-Added Taunt as an option on Gyarados, since you already lure and trap pex with Fini, Taunt becomes quite useful to beat the likes of ID Skarm / Pex.
-Adjusted the Jirachi spread (Imo scarf rachi really needs max speed, speedtiening and potentially flinching down +1 base 100s is very big, and the attack evs are to beat Mega Latias with a couple of flinches)
-Added fire punch on jirachi (revenging Kartana here is hard, and its nice to chip ferro too for Gyara

Other options
-Fight Z can also be used on Bulu to more effectively nail Corv and Skarm, but misses out on mushroom (amoonguss) notably.
-Toxic, HP Ice can also be used on lando to nail Opposing Landos and Zapdos, as well as MChomp notably

Hope you like the team!
