VGC Scarf Lando-I [GP: 2/2]

[SET]
Choice Scarf (Landorus) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sheer Force
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid / Modest Nature
- Sandsear Storm
- Earth Power
- Sludge Bomb
- U-turn

Landorus is a strong special attacker that can threaten metagame staples such as Miraidon, Incineroar, Raging Bolt, and Zamazenta-C thanks to its good Speed tier, ability, and powerful STAB moves. Sandsear Storm is a spread option but is less consistent than Earth Power. Sludge Bomb hits Grass-types such as Rillaboom and Fairy-type Pokemon like Flutter Mane and Tera-Fairy Calyrex-S, while U-turn allows Landorus to pivot out of a bad position. Choice Scarf allows it to outspeed most Pokemon, such as Miraidon, Chien-Pao, Calyrex-S, and Zamazenta-C. A Timid nature can be opted for to outspeed Choice Scarf Urshifu-R and Chi-Yu, even if they have a Speed-boosting nature, while a Modest nature allows Landorus to further boost its damage output. Tera Ground allows Earth Power to pick up OHKOs on bulkier Pokemon such as Zamazenta-C and Zacian-C.

Chien-Pao, Flutter Mane, and Calyrex-I are common Pokemon that threaten Landorus. Chien-Pao threatens an OHKO with Ice Spinner or Icicle Crash, Flutter Mane can nullify its Choice Scarf Speed boost with Icy Wind while doing a lot of damage, and Calyrex-I OHKOes Landorus with Glacial Lance and can set up Trick Room. Kyogre, especially with Assault Vest, can soak up hits from Landorus and threaten to OHKO it with Water-type attacks such as Origin Pulse and Water Spout. Rillaboom is a good partner for Landorus because of its positive matchup against Flutter Mane and Kyogre, with Wood Hammer OHKOing them. Kyogre helps against Chien-Pao, Flutter Mane, and Calyrex-I, as it can easily take their attacks while responding with tons of damage with its STAB moves while also setting up rain for Sandsear Storm. Both Rillaboom and Kyogre appreciate Landorus being a check to Pokemon that threaten them, such as Chi-Yu and Miraidon, respectively. Raging Bolt is a great counter to Kyogre, because of its natural typing and ability to threaten it with Thunderclap and Thunderbolt. Tornadus can set up Tailwind for Landorus to further bolster its Speed, use Rain Dance to boost Sandsear Storm's accuracy, and has a spread move in Bleakwind Storm that hits Grass-types such as Rillaboom and Amoonguss, that benefits from rain.

In regulation F, landorus was incredibly popular as a life orb attacker that could hit harder than almost anything in the meta game, with the combination of life orb sheer force and STAB earth power and good coverage in sludge bomb. Now that Regulation G has started however, many landorus have adapted to the choice scarf set, giving up some damage for more speed. Thankfully, landorus doesn’t need life orb to do crazy amounts of damage. Ground tera allows landorus to make up for some of the damage loss, making ground tera earth power hit even harder than we saw in regulation F.(A lot of this is just fluff, no need to talk about reg f. Just having something like "Landorus is a good and strong special attacker, threatening..." Then talk about the moves, starting with "____ is used as powerful STAB / hits ____ really hard." The talk why scarf helps. After all of that, explain why Tera ground and ghost are used make sure to have like one sentence for Sheer Force like, "Sheer Force can help Landorus achieve OHKOs on foes such as ____ and ____ that it would never be able to achieve before" just rewrite in the correct format [second paragraph should be attached to the first]) you don’t have to follow this exactly but as a basic skeleton for the expectations.

Landorus is a special attacker, so running u-turn, a physical move, feels somewhat unintuitive. (all just fluff) However, the ability to pivot out is very nice, especially on a choice scarf mon that doesn’t have an amazing fourth move option. U-turn is great at getting in partners that may not get in safely otherwise, as well as U-turn allows allowing landorus to break a focus sash, switch out, then come back in and finish them foes off. This is especially helpful on checks like chien-pao.

Landorus really likes being on rain teams, mostly with Kyogre. The main reason for this is that in the rain, landorus’s signature move, as it makes sandsear storm, can never miss. It doesn’t matter how many evasion boosts your opponent’s muk has, sandsear will always hit. Sandsear also normally has a chance to burn, so it combos nicely with sheer force, allowing for a strong, 101% accurate, spread move.

Landorus is certainly not without checks.
Speed booster flutter mane with icy wind tends to be a major problem for it, as with focus sash chien pao (why do these Pokemon check Landorus? Elaborate). Opposing kyogre, especially with AV, can also be incredibly tough for it, since it can easily soak up hits from landorus and respond with a super effective attack Water Spout, Origin Pulse or Ice Beam. The best partner for landorus is probably A good partner for Landorus is the aforementioned kyogre (Why?). Tornadus also works well for it because of its ability to set up tailwind and rain. Henry Rich got top 8 at NAIC with Lando-I and overqwil. In rain, overqwil can outspeed everything and launch an acid spray at an opponent, lowering their special defense, allowing for massive damage for landorus Probably change the mention of overqwil to something more relevant, such as Rillaboom threatening flutter mane and kyogre, as well as providing fake out pressure)

Check here for the writing format btw, because it is only supposed to be two paragraphs. Also merge the first two paragraphs together and the last two together.

Landorus-I is a strong special attacker that can threaten many Pokemon meta staples, such as Incineroar, Gholdengo, and Zamazenta-C. Earth power is a reliable, single target STAB move that benefits from sheer force.(Don't need to explain what Earth Power does). Sandsear storm hits both foes, has STAB, but you need to be in rain to guarantee a hit.(Just say that Sandsear is less consistent but is a spread option.) Sludge Bomb offers valuable coverage, being able to hits the Grass-types that ground struggles to resist Landorus's Ground-type moves., and u-turn allows landorus to pivot out into a partner if it is in a bad position.(Straight forward move) It can also break a sash on mons such as chien pao, which can give landorus trouble due to its ice type moves. Choice Scarf allows Landorus to outspeed most Pokemon that don’t also have a speed boosting item (Such as?). Tera ground and ghost are both valuable for Landorus. Tera Ground gives Landorus a boost in it’s damage,(Mention KOs that it gets with Tera Ground). while ghost let’s it avoid fake out, which can give choice scarf pokemon trouble since they can’t protect. Sheer force is an ability that boosts the damage of all moves with secondary effects, with the drawback of removing that secondary effect. This tradeoff is almost always worth it, as it boosts landorus’s damage output to far above most pokemon. (Don't need to talk about the ability if there is only 1 option on the set.)

Chien-Pao and Speed Booster Flutter Mane with Icy Wind are both common Pokemon that threaten Landorus heavily. Chien Pao threatens an OHKO with an ice move, or even a dark move, whether you tera to ghost or ground, and Flutter Mane can nullify your Choice Scarf with Icy Wind, while also doing a lot of damage. Kyogre, especially with Assault Vest, can also soak up hits from Landorus, and respond with a water spout, origin pulse, or ice beam threaten Landorus. Calyrex-Ice can also threaten an OHKO on landorus with Glacial Lance and has the ability to take an attack from landorus (I think it setting TR is more annoying). Probably the best partner for landorus is a pokemon with the ability drizzle. This can be either kyogre or pelliper. Rain makes sandsear storm 101% accurate, meaning it can never miss. Rillaboom is another great partner. Fake out can create room for landorus to launch attacks and wood hammer threatens an OHKO on most flutter mane and kyogre. Tornadus, another option, can set up tailwind for landorus, making it move even faster and can manually set up rain for landorus. (This whole thing needs to be changed, first you should mention which Pokemon help into Landorus's checks, then you can talk about good all around partners)

Landorus-I is a strong special attacker that can threaten meta staples, such as Incineroar, Gholdengo (not very common in the metagame rn imo, keep it if you'd like), Raging Bolt, and Zamazenta-C. Sandsear storm is a spread, STAB option but is less consistent. Sludge bomb hits the Grass types. Chien Pao Chien-Pao threatens an OHKO,(AC) (remove extra space)and Flutter Mane can nullify your Choice Scarf with Icy Wind, while also doing a lot of damage and Calyrex-Ice can also threaten an OHKO on Landorus with Glacial Lance and has the ability to set up Trick Room (group all the ice weaknesses together). Rillaboom is a good counter into partner for Landorus that threatens Flutter Mane and Kyogre with Wood Hammer and U-Turn, and Kyogre helps into all of Chien-Pao, Flutter Mane, and Calyrex-Ice (mention specifically how kyogre helps Landorus against these threats) while also setting up Rain for Sandsear Storm.
