SS OU Scarf Lele - Unburden Hawlucha

Hellooooo Gamers,
I hope you're doing well. My name is Eren and I decided to join the forum, so I could post a team I've been working on, so maybe you could help me improve it and take some ideas for yourself. Anyway I hope you like the team and every bit of improvement is appreciated.

Let's get started with Zorua ...

:sm/zorua:

(Just kidding, but I love Zorua)

I started off my Team with an Utility Core, consisting of Landorus-T and Regieleki. Ever since I saw it on the popular Semi-Rain Team from Pinkacross, the GOAT of Teambuilding, I started using it more often and it did wonders for me. Obviously, with Landorus-T, you get up Stealth Rocks / Toxic the target's Item and pivot out with U-Turn. If the opponent decides to do the same thing with his own Landorus-T, you can switch in to Regieleki and get rid of the Rocks or switch into something that forces the opponent to switch the next turn (by the way Landorus' IV's are lowered, just in case your Landorus' U-Turn hits after the opposing Landorus). Heavy-Duty Boots so you don't take damage, because you're most likely going to switch into Regieleki a lot, to get rid of entry hazards. Additionally, through the +1 Speed you get from Rapid Spin, you get a higher Chance to KO a Pokemon with an boosted Electro Ball (it's Base Power is determined by how much faster Regieleki is than the Target, essentially doubling the Damage). If you wanna switch out with Volt Switch, be mindful of him switching a Ground Pokemon on you, to prevent you from switching / doing any damage and therefore slowing down your momentum. Getting off one or two Rapid Spins can be game changing, against Rain Teams, as you're faster than most Pokemons, possibly even faster than a Swift Swim Barraskewda (most are Adamant, but a +2 Regieleki is definitely faster than a Jolly-Nature Barraskewda in the Rain).

The Sets of the Utility Core:

:sm/regieleki:
Regieleki @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Transistor
EVs: 56 HP / 24 Def / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Timid Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Volt Switch
- Electro Ball
- Ancient Power

:sm/landorus-therian:
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 104 Def / 156 SpD
Careful Nature
IVs: 28 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Toxic

As for the offense of the Team, I found out that it's actually very important to have a certain synergy with your utility core to ensure safe/"smooth" switch-ins. Everyone knows that Scarf Lele is rising force in OU, as it can clean up even slightly weakened pokemons, but before we clean up, we need a sweeper to do most of the damage- Enter: Hawlucha. I once fell Victim to a complete Hawlucha Sweep, back when the Strategy was brand new and I didn’t know how to counter it. But priority moves, like Ice Shard on a Choice Banded Weavile or Mamoswine, crystalized pretty fast afterwards as counters. That’s why I went with Tapu Lele specifically, instead of Tapu Koko, who may have a way better speed stat and can be used as a offensive pivot, but nonetheless, Lele works just fine- the reason for that is, while the Psychic Terrain is up, any Priority Moves have no effect. Not as in their Priority gets cancelled, but the Attack doesn't even do Damage at all. It’s kinda hard to set an Swords Dance with Hawlucha, because everyone expects it, but if you do it can result in a GG. Poison Jab is for some extra coverage against Fairy and if you can KO a Mon, without losing your defenses through CC or HP from the Attack of an surviving Mon, I thinks that’s a win-win, but obviously you can adjust to what you're running in more often on the Ladder. If you run into a Corviknight or any bulky non-offensive Pokemon, that’s not particulary an offensive threat you can freely set up SD, as they are rather tough to KO at +0 Attack and it helps you with the sweep of the rest of the Team.

The Sets of the Offensive Core:

:sm/tapu-lele:

Tapu Lele @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Focus Blast
- Future Sight

:sm/hawlucha:

Hawlucha @ Psychic Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Acrobatics
- Close Combat
- Poison Jab

And now finally to finish off the whole Team, we got the backbone of the Team -the defensive Core- being Scizor and Toxapex. Here I'm going to have to do some more explaining. But not for Toxapex, as it's one of the most viable and defensively solid Pokemon in the Tier, being able to set up T-Spikes, eventually burn with Scald, Recover HP with Recover and Regenerator, hurt physical Attackers with Rocky Helmet and Haze away any sweep attempt from the opponent- obviously pretty self-explanatory. Then let's continue with Scizor, which at first glance might seem like a weird choice. Seeing a specially defensive Scizor is very rare, but on this Team it acts like a "bulky enough"-pivot to bring in Hawlucha (our main sweeper) safely after Psychic Terrain is set up, which is crucial and the reason other defensive Mons didn't cut it. Being able to chip away at opposing Mons either damaging them or knocking off their Item, also while having the option to Roost and switch out late with an U-Turn is just impeccable. Heavy-Duty-Boots, so that I don't have to use Regieleki at every switch, to get rid of Entry Hazards, to minimize damage taken and build up/ keep my offensive momentum (very important against stall). These two Mon resist a total of 11 Types: Poison, Grass, Ice, Fairy, Psychic, Bug, Normal, Dragon, Fight, Water and Fire. All in all, to draw the bottom line, these two cover most weaknesses the other Team members have and on top, provide some offensive utility that makes it easier to set up the Hawluch sweep (which is why I went with these two specifically).

The Sets of the Defensive Core:

:sm/scizor:
Scizor @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Roost
- Knock Off

:sm/toxapex:

Toxapex @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Haze
- Recover
- Toxic Spikes

So my friends, that concludes my first time trying to build and present my own Team. I'm sure there's a lot of holes in my Team and Questions still unanswered, but nonetheless, I hope you could somehow understand my choices/ my thought process and maybe even take something for yourself. I know this Team will never work in High Ladder, but I thought of it as having my own Team, that I can be proud of and continiously keep on improving as time goes
(Obviously no shame in using other people's Team, I do that too xD).
Well then, take care folks

Tbh the only suggestion I have for this team is the change hawluchas ev spread. Instead of 252 run 124 speed as it allows you to outrun sand rush excadrill in sand, than put the rest of your points into bulk to be able to take at least one priority move.

Hello, just wanna say something real quick. I didn't know that the priority cancelling effect of Psychic Terrain effected only Grounded Pokemon, which means it doesn't work on Hawlucha, essentially making the offense core very suboptimal. Does anyone know how to delete a thread you already posted. I'll rework my team.

Lele and lucha is still a solid core

Yeah, lele and lucha are still an amazing pair, one I use myself. Hawlucha's great speed tier means it doesn't need all 252 evs into speed, letting it have some bulk to survive a priority attack or two, while lele has good unbosted offensive power and lucha brings the setup sweeper and acts as a wincon on these sorts of teams.
