Scarfed Garchomp needs a NEW team

Hi there! I'm Thundershock1234. Everyone here kindly helped me create my current OU team but as everyone does, I decided to change my team up a bit. As the title suggests, Garchomp has remained in my team, along with Ferrothorn and Mandibuzz, but the rest of the team is a different story.

Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
Jolly nature - Rough Skin - 252 atk / 252 spd / 4 HP
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Dragon Claw
Garchomp is an amazing powerhouse. Not only has it got a terrifying 130 base attack stat but it also has an amazing 108 speed stat and a movepool to support it with. The only bad thing about it is that it can be outsped by Latios and Greninja, who are able to OHKO it with Draco Meteor and Ice Beam respectively. Choice Scarf deals with this problem. With Scarf, Garchomp can outspeed these threats and take down other pokemon it could never dream of. Outrage is the most powerful of Dragon moves Garchomp can make use of however, it continues on a rampage for 2 - 3 turns and gains confusion afterwards. To counter this, Garchomp also has Dragon Claw which is still powerful and doesn't keep Garchomp in after every turn.
Ferrothorn_XY.gif

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Relaxed nature - Iron Barbs - 252 HP/ 208 sp. def/ 48 def
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip/ Protect
Ferrothorn is my fairy counter and hazard layer. It has amazing defenses and also has access to Leech Seed, so when it switches out, the next switch in can gain HP if they need it. Gyro Ball is to KO those fairy pokemon and Power Whip for coverage, however I could switch that move to Protect if needed since I have another pokemon with grass type moves.

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Timid nature - Drought - 252 sp. atk / 252 spd / 4 HP
- Solar Beam
- Flamethrower
- Roost
- Focus Blast
Charizard is my mega for my team and may I tell you all now how much I love this thing. It has an amazing special attack stat when mega evolved and can pretty much 2HKO everything, if not 1HKO.
Charizard replaces Volcarona on my old team and it is so much stronger without taking the life orb recoil. Flamethrower is my fire move of choice since it has a better accuracy then Fire Blast and also is boosted by the sun anyways. Solar Beam also makes good use of Charizard's ability. Roost heals Charizard's HP when it gets low and my final move is Focus Blast since I have no other fighting move on the rest of my team.

mandibuzz-gif.12068

Mandibuzz @ Leftovers
Impish nature - Overcoat - 248 HP / 252 def / 8 spd
- Roost
- Defog
- Foul Play
- Whirlwind
Mandibuzz is my defogger, manditory if I run Charizard. It also is an amazing wall with access to Whirlwind if the opposing pokemon manages to get two thousand boosts up on me. Foul Play is also good for that situation, doing more damage to pokemon with higher attack stats. Finally Mandibuzz's final move is roost so I can gain HP after tanking all those hits for my team.

Florges @ Leftovers
Bold nature - Flower Veil - 252 HP/ 252 sp. def / 4 def
- Wish
- Aromatherapy
- Protect
- Moonblast
Florges is my cleric for my team since I don't want Garchomp getting burnt at all so Aromatherapy is mandatory for this set. Florges is my Dragon check for Garchomp so thats why I didn't go for Umbreon as cleric and also I already had a Dark type wall on my team. Florges' final moves are pretty much standard, Wish, Protect and Moonblast for stab. I really like Florges and wish it gets used more often (and better defense stats then Sylveon).

Greninja @ Life Orb
Timid nature - Protean - 252 sp. atk / 252 spd / 4 HP
- Scald
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
Greninja is my final sweeper for the team with lots of coverage. It's pretty much your standard Greninja set apart from my sprite image is shiny (It looks amazing)! Instead of Hydro Pump, I went with Scald for that chance of getting a burn. Dark Pulse, Ice Beam and Grass Knot are pretty much for stab.

So thats it for my team. I hope you liked reading my review and I can't wait to hear back from you all!

Hey! Gonna drop by a few thoughts.

I would maybe try Fire Blast in place of Dragon Claw on Garchomp. It gets much easier past Skarmory, Ferrothorn and Scizor, but ofc, it might be a bit bad to stay locked in a relatively weak Fire Blast. For Ferrothorn, I suggest you just dump all EVs to Special Defense, unless the extra EVs in Defense let you survive something you otherwise wouldn't. I would never use Protect on your Ferrothorn, as there are just too many powerful attackers who can switch to Ferrothorn relatively easy + it isn't a recommended move choice with Rocky Helmet. I would maybe consider using Toxic in place of Power Whip, since Ferrothorn is such a good user of status moves. I personally prefer T-Wave over Toxic, but seeing as Gyro Ball is more or less mandatory on your team, I'd try Toxic. I'm a bit skeptical in using Flamethrower on your Char-Y, as you really lack in power with it, especially considering you run a Timid nature.

You could consider running Bold on Mandibuzz, as that makes you take less damage from confusion. Also, just replace Florges with Sylveon, Florges just isn't as effective. Hyper Voice just hits so much harder, and Sylveon has more HP. Also, switch your EVs to max HP / max Def, because Special Defense is high as is, and you really could use the investment in Defense. I would also advise you to use Hydro Pump on Greninja, as you need the power more than anything. Also, you could consider using Extrasensory in place of Grass Knot, as Grass Knot gives you no real coverage, whereas Extrasensory lets you hit M-Venusaur, which looks to be somewhat of a problem to your team. In addition it hits Conkeldurr and Keldeo hard.

As for your weaknesses, I see you have somewhat of a weakness to Flying-spam, as you need to sac something to revenge-kill them. Luckily it isn't as prelevalent as it once was. Also, I think CM Clefable can be a problem. Although Ferrothorn can generally beat it, some Clefable carry Flamethrower, so you need to be on alert against Clefable. But overall, good team, and good luck battling!

Thanks so much for the advice! Fire Blast is ok on Garchomp but I already have Charizard and I found it more convenient with Dragon Claw. I have changed Power Whip to Thunder Wave on Ferrothorn and it works wonders! Finally I have changed Grass Knot for Extrasensory on Greninja for better coverage. Which Fairy type pokemon would be the best for my team? I don't really need a fairy type wall just a fairy pokemon in general. Anyways thanks for the help!

Right i'd change the florges to a sylveon,
sylveon@leftovers
nature:bold
EVs: 252hp,252def,4SpDef
Ability: Pixilate
moves:
1. Hyper Voice
2. Wish
3. Protect
4. Heal Bell

this adorable little dog thingy does florges' job a heck of alot better, it's also stronger with pixilate hyper voice being able to whack dragons back harder. i find it just a better cleric in general but if florges works then stay with it :)

i'd also run HP Fire and Extrasensory on Greninja over grass knot and dark pulse as you can hit stuff like conkeldurr and mega venusaur suprisingly hard and HP Fire helps you smack skarmory and ferrothorn as well as scizor better, it's also nice to have the HP Fire on Greninja incase you can't throw your charizard as it'll die to sr and mandibuzz is gone for example, i'd also run taunt not whirlwind on madibuzz as subtoxic aegislash will completely destroy mandibuzz if it isn't running taunt :) hope i helped :)

Having a charizard doesn't mean fire blast is bad on garchomp. If zard goes down how are you gonna take out scizor and ferro? I ran a scarfchomp to relatively higher ladder (1700) and I almost never used dragon claw. Fire blast can catch ferros/scizors by surprise and deal good damage. (Obv naive nature or something if using fire blast)

fimbu1vetr Thanks for the advice about fire blast but when I play garchomp I often use dragon claw. I like to be able to rely on it to take down dragon pokemon and if not predicted correctly am able to switch out when needed.
KaiReptilon Thanks for meantioning Sylveon. When I play this team on Showdown I really enjoy playing it but on my 3ds I like to run Florges because it is such a chore for me to breed a pokemon on Black 2. I have also changed Grass Knot to Extrasensory but I like to have Dark Pulse on Greninja over HP fire since it did more damage and usually I can Ko the same things with Ice Beam
Thanks for your help all. I really appreciated it :D
