Scolipede and The Tyrants of Sand and Sea - First RMT

Hi guys. I have played Pokemon for a while and this is my first RMT. I've had some decent results with this team and I hope you'll help me improve it.

Scolipede @ Focus Sash
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 64 HP / 252 Atk / 192 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Baton Pass

This guy has been one of my favorite pokemons and it received some buffs this gen so I decided to use it. As you can see I am not using the standart baton pass set since I am not using a baton pass team. Most players lead with Talonflame, Volcarona, Charizard or Heatran when they see a Scolipede. Rock Slide OHKO Volcarona, Yzard and Talonflame while Earthquake OHKO Heatran. If the other guy doesn't have something I can OHKO, I go with Sword Dance.

252 Atk for maximum power and 192 Spd to outspeed invested base 90.

Tyranitar-Mega @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Crunch
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Taunt

Recipient #1. This guy destroys everything with +2 Atk and speed. Edgequake coverage and Crunch is really great. Taunt is there to stop stall and prevent burns/paralysis. I am not %100 sure about Evs, if someone has a better spread please let me know. Handles Fire for Ferrothorn and Dark/Ghost for Latios.

Gyarados_by_miss_ninja.jpg

Gyarados @ Assault Vest
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 106 Atk / 150 Def
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
- Dragon Tail

Recipient #2. Someone shared this set in the Underrated Sets thread, so all the credit goes to him. Gyarados is really bulky with AV, Intimidate and a defensive spread. It has almost flawless coverage(Dat Rotom-W) with Waterfall/Earthquake/Ice Beam. Dragon tail helps against set-up mons. I will pass him if the opponent doesn't have an electric type I can't OHKO at +2. Handles Fighting,Ground,Bug,Steel and Water for Ttar; Fighting/Fire for Ferrothorn and Bug for Latios.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Leech Seed
- Thunder Wave
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock

Ferrothorn have great synergy with Gyarados, it handles electric and Gyarados handles Fire. Pretty standart set as you can see. Leech seed helps me stall and force some pokes out. Thunder Wave helps Tyranitar and Gyarados to outspeed some pokes. I am not entirely sure about Gyro ball maybe I'll switch it with Power Whip or Knock Off. Handles Dragon,Ice and Fairy for Latios; Steel/Poison for Sylveon and Electric for Gyarados.

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SAtk / 30 Spd
- Draco Meteor
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Psyshock
- Defog

I realized that all my pokes were physical and I didn't have a spinner/defogger. I decided to try this guy and he has been a big help. Set is pretty standart: Draco Meteor nukes stuff, HP Fire hits steels, Psyshock hits special walls and Defog clears the field. Handles Fighting/Water for Ttar, Electric for Gyarados; Fire for Forretress and Poison for Sylveon.

Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Def / 12 Spd
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Protect
- Wish
- Heal Bell

I played for a while without a cleric but Burns and Paralysis started to render attackers useless so I decided to add one. It's the standart cleric set. She gives other team members another chance, hits decently and help me wishstall some threats. Handles Darks for Latios and Fightings for Ttar.

This team looks very good indeed! I like the concept of baton passing on scolipede to sweep with tyranitar! Have you tried testing protect > rock slide on scolipede, purely because if your opponent leads with ttar and hits you with a stone edge which gets you down to 1%, scoli will die to sandstorm which could be an issue, not sure how often this would pop up though.

I am confused by the EVs on your Sylveon, why the 12 SDef Evs? I suggest using only 4 EVs in Sdef and the full 252 in HP unless the 12 SDef is allowing it to survive anything in particular (nothing i can think of!)

Other than that there is great synergy and potential in this team!

Thanks for the reply. Residual damage and occasional flamethrower burns are REAL problems for Scolipede but Rock Slide has an amazing suprise factor and lets me start the game 6-5 against certain pokes.
There was a mistake with that Ev spread, I have fixed it. 12 Speed EVs are there to outspeed Ttar.

Oh that's for speed? I thought you meant Special Defence n_n that makes sense. Glad I could help in some way!

In my experience in using mega tyranitar i can tell you that running fire punch over earthquake can stop scizors, genesect(he's going to be banned but hey, he's here for now) and other things that don't appreciate fire moves.
