Scotch Woodcock (OU)

This is my second RMT. Ive been with smogon for just over a month. My first RMT got some good advice but still simply sucked so i dumped it 3 weeks ago. Ever since ive been using this team. I tweaked it around for the first couple weeks and Ive been using it as it is for about a week and it works very well. Its not stall or all out offensive. It actually has a little bit of both. So anyway here is my team:

By the way, Scotch Woodcock is buttered toast spread with anchovy paste with creamy soft-scrambled eggs on top. LOL

Major Edit: My team is now stall. I made the complete switch over because I love Hippowodon and I want him to do as good as possible.

Changes in Bold

Foretress@ Shed Shell
Ability: Sturdy
EVs:252HP/252Def/6SpD
Ralaxed Nature (+Def -Spe)
-Spikes
-Toxic Spikes
-Rapid Spin
-Gyro Ball

My Lead. Provides Spikes and Toxic Spikes support for my team, and also rapid spin support. Basically a good lead and a excellent support pokemon. Comes in on physical threats and sets up.

Beats out lead Areodactly by first gyroballing and then Rapid Spinning.

>> used to be a great lead Metagross before I went all-out Stall

Celebi.jpg

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Evs: 252HP/252Def/6Spe
Bold Nature (+Def -Atk)
-Grass Know
-Recover
-Stealth Rock
-Thunder Wave

From Celebi I get some much needed Stealth Rock Support on my team and some much needed Thunder Wave support on my team. Stealth Rock because this is now a stall team and Thunker Wave to slow down faster threats such as Gyarados.

Recover for Recovery and Grass Know for consistant STAB.

>>Used to be a mixed Life Orb Azelf

Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Evs: 252HP/148Def/110SpD
Bold Nature (+Def -Atk)
-Hydro Pump
-Shadow Ball
-Trick
-Will-o-Wisp

This Pokemon can do some quick revenge killing early on, it can also block rapid spin atempts early and late game. After, it can trick its Scarf onto a wall, thus crippling it and it can also cripple physical threats with Will-o-Wisp.

>>Used to be CB Tyranitar

Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Evs: 252HP/148Def/110SpD
Bold Nature (+Def - Atk)
-Ice Beam
-Surf
-Rest
-Sleep Talk

This deals with pokemon such as Heatran, Infernape, and Salemence. Ice Beam and Surf provide good coverage. Rest and Sleep Talk for Recovery and status protection.

>>Used to be Gyarados

>>Before Gyarados is used to be Shaymin

hippowdon.png

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
Evs: 176HP/84Def/248SpD
Impish Nature (+Def -SAtk)
-Earthquake
-Slack Off
-Stockpile
-Roar

If I can get SE up and can keep this free from status it becomes an absolure beast. I have won many a battle simply because the opponent cannot budge Hippowodon, or people get frustrated and forfeit.

The way this works is that I switch in on a physical threat who Hippowodon counters, then I eill ussually use stockpile. I can usually get to 3 Stockpiles easily with Slack Off. Then I proceed to Earthquake through the opponets team as they can not even scratch me. Powerful special attackers cant even 3KO. When a flyer or levitate comes in, I simply roar it away buildin up the SR damage. That is why SE it essential for Hippowdon.

I feel a little cheap using this sometimes because once I use prediction to set up, there is nothing the opponent can to since no attack will do past 40% on this guy exect maybe a Coice Specs Mense Draco Meteor but even that will do no where near more than half. So i can just Slack Off or roar.

Blissey @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Evs: 138SpD/252Def/120HP
Bold Nature (+Def -Atk)
-Softboiled
-IceBeam
-Seismic Toss
-Aromatherapy

My team is very physically defensive so a special beast like blissey is called for. It soks up Special threats and switches in against many special based pokemon. Attracts many Physical attackers, specifically fighers, who are countered and ussually set up upon my Hippowdon.

Ice Beam is great for coverage and hits celebi and other grassers for decent damage.

Seismic Toss is a nessesity on Blissey out of Ubers in my opinion bacause it hits so many pokemon that Blissey needs to be able to hit and it generally a good move even when a switch is expected bacause coverage doesnt matter (exept against ghosts obiously).

Toxic is the only staus move on my team and prevents me from being statusless. Toxic and Softboiled can stally many opponets out of their minds. Toxic also attracts scizor who my Hippowdon can switch into and set up. Raplaced toxic with Aromatherapy with the absence of Shaymin this is needed. Not sure if Toxic was the best move to get rid of but im pretty confident.

Things being considered:

>>New pokemon so Im not to sure about the Evs or movesets so im looking to maybe change stuff up if nessisary

Thanks for reading about my team, now all there is left to do is rate. So please, go ahead:

(The shortening for Stealth Rock is SR, not SE.)

Some things first:
#1: Remove the HP EVs on Azelf. You can go max Speed actually, since you might find yourself in the position where winning a Speed tie will win you the battle. Put the rest in Special Attack. Explosion will already do enough damage with 125 Base Atk and Life Orb.
#2: Give Tyranitar 252 Attack and 176 HP. Keep the Speed EVs.
#3: Shaymins signature move is Seed Flare. Use that over Grass Knot, that's basically what makes Shaymin so special. 120 Base Power and 40% chance to lower SpDef.
#4: Use 252 HP on Hippowdon. Also, Curse > Stockpile, IMO. If you switch, use Careful and 252 SpDef EVs. Then, also, switch Roar for Ice Fang or Stone Edge. SE gives more power, IF superior coverage.
#5: Blissey doesn't need HP EVs. Put them in SpDef.

Apart from that, a lot of very standard Pokémon. Infernape and Scizor will play football together with this team, especially if Azelf is down, which isn't hard to do.
A thing you can do is to remove Shaymin, and add a Gyarados. If you want to keep Aromatherapy, you can always put it on Blissey. Gyarados will give you a lot of needed resistances (Ground, Fight and Fire), and is a great Poké alltogether. I will reccommend the defensive set, since that seems to be your theme, and that is

Gyarados@Leftovers
[Impish]
252 HP, 216 Defense, 40 SpDef
- Waterfall
- Dragon Dance
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
this Gyarados can take a hell of a beating before it is taken down. A lot of teams also have issues bringing this one down, meaning you can often pull off a sweep after som DDs, especially if Tyranitar has killed Rotom or Zapdos previously. All in all, it will serve your team better than Shaymin, while you don't lose much by removing the Grass Fairy, as Blissey can do its job.

(EEEK feel so dum thanks alot)

Orion

I took your advice and changed up the EVs on Azelf, Blissey and Tyranitar.

I also added your Gyarados set and removed Shaymin, it was kinda a week point anyway.

I stll wanted Aromatherapy, so replaced toxic on Blissey with Aromatherapy.

As for Hippowdon, Curse is very good and so is 252 HP Evs but I really like Hippowdon the way he is. I've completely walled entire teams with Stockpile, something you cant do with Curse. Curse does have advantages though, like the offense bost, but I prefer the defensive boost as is evident in my team. Actually, Hippowdon is like the highlight of my team so i'm liking it right now. Thanks anyway.

Overall thanks for the help.

Anybody Else???

Okay, I think that with that Hippowdon set, you need to be running a pure stall team. It could benefit greatly from a solid defense coupled with entry hazards.

I would keep Blissey as is, though the SAtk evs are pointless; shift them to either HP or SDef.

I would substitute Gyarados for a Restalk Suicune with 252 HP, 148 Def, 110 SDef, Bold, with Rest, Sleep Talk, Ice Beam, and Surf This deals with pokemon such as Heatran, Infernape (though it takes a lot from a NP Grass Knot), and can be switched fairly easily into most Salamence sets.

I would substitute Tyranitar with Rotom-W, with 252 HP 98 Spd 160 SDef, with the moveset Hydro Pump, Shadow Ball, Trick, and Will o Wisp- it can block opposing Rapid Spins, Trick a choice item onto a wall or a setup pokemon, and even do some revengekilling while being bulky. Also outspeeds and KOs Infernape, and keeps Heatran from switching in easily.

I would replace Azelf with Celebi, with 252 HP, 252 Def, 6 Speed. While I would advocate HP Fire on most Celebi movesets, you need Stealth Rock, to support the team, and Thunder Wave, to prevent Life Orb Dragon Dance Gyarados from beating you.

Finally, the lead become Forretress, with 252 HP and 252 Defense, carrying Shed Shell, with Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Rapid Spin, and Gyro Ball. This can set up Spikes on physical sweepers, while maximizing the damage done when you get Hippowdon set up. Furthermore, it shuts down Aerodactyl leads, by Gyro Balling it to 1 HP, then Rapid Spinning it's attempt to lay down Stealth Rock.

Thank you very much Ancien Regime.

I basically did exactally what you told me :P

>>I moves th Satk Evs from Blissey into HP

>>Gyarados is gone and your Suicune is in

>>Tyranitar is out and your rotom-w is in

>>Azelf is out and Celebi is in

>>Gross is out Foretress is in

My team is now a stall team and I am liking it a lot more than I was before. Awsome!! Thank you again!

Anyone else wanna rate???
