With access to both Reflect and Light Screen, in addition to a fantastic ability in Prankster, Grimmsnarl is a great option on offensive Dark teams. Prankster allows Grimmsnarl to set up priority Reflect and Light Screen so its teammates can set up more easily. Grimmsnarl also has access to priority Taunt, which stops Defoggers, entry hazard setters, and setup sweepers such as Noivern, Galvantula, and Cloyster, respectively. Spirit Break allows Grimmsnarl to hit Mandibuzz, which is able to Defog away both Reflect and Light Screen, as it is immune to Prankster Taunt. Grimmsnarl should be used early- to mid-game, setting up screens to support its teammates as frequently as possible. Maximum HP and Special Defense investment improve Grimmsnarl's bulk, allowing it to set up screens multiple times throughout the match.
All of Grimmsnarl's teammates appreciate dual screens halving the damage taken. Setup sweepers such as Swords Dance Bisharp, Nasty Plot Hydreigon, and Dragon Dance Tyranitar all appreciate Grimmsnarl providing dual screens for them, as it allows them to set up more easily. Bisharp appreciates Grimmsnarl's ability to weaken foes such as Mandibuzz for it. Choice Scarf Drapion is able to set up Toxic Spikes for the team and can threaten Fairy teams. Other niche setup sweepers such as Swords Dance Crawdaunt and Swords Dance Weavile both appreciate dual screens support from Grimmsnarl. Mandibuzz is able to take attacks from the likes of Duraludon and Excadrill that threaten Grimmsnarl and provide Defog and U-turn support to get rid of entry hazards and safely bring in teammates.
