Screw Dragonite.

Hi all, i havent really posted in here for a while, but i brought you a new team that works really well with a few underrated threats and sets. It is a dual trapping team with Magnezone and Dugtrio to take out steels and other key threats so that Scarf Moxie Salamence can clean up lategame. It includes a physically defensive mew to take on many common threats such as Tyranitar, Terrakion, and Dragonite with Will-O-Wisp, and Specs Rotom-W to provide momentum while still packing a punch. Finally, i included a specially defensive jirachi to be able to wall the special side of dragons, including Specs Latios and CM latias, as well as a few other pokemon like reuniclus and Specs Tornadus. I first started this team with my tutor when we both decided to build new teams and battle to test my team building and prediction skills, and through my own testing and some useful sets from IdiotFromMars, this is what the team looks like now! I hope you enjoy my team, and be sure to leave a good rating, and try it out if you like:

Mew @ Leftovers
Trait: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 224 Def / 32 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Roost
- Ice Beam
Mew is really underrated in terms of usage. I was glad to see that it got increased usage, but mainly should be used more because of the great base 100 stats, and a near endless movepool. Mine is physically defensive, easily taking on the likes of Terrakion, Tyranitar, and Dragonite, and proceeding to Will-O-Wisp and roost off the damage, or Ice Beam threats such as Gliscor and Dragonite. Stalling Gliscor is the bane of this team, so Ice Beam is a must as the filler move. Mew is also amazing because it can prevent pokemon from setting up entry hazards or boosting their stats with Taunt. Roost is for recovery and to make sure my mew stays around for all of the physical threats that this generation has. Bold is to get my Defensive stat higher to take on non resisted attacks, mainly dragons.

Innie (Rotom-W) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Trick
Choice Specs Rotom-Wash is very underrated as well. Specs Hydro Pumps, even when resisted, do over 50% damage to any type of Rotom just to showcase the power. It also helps me get enough extra damage on pokemon that would normally be able to take Volt Switches and Hydro Pumps, and helps weaken pokemon so Salamence can clean up late game. The EV's are pretty standard to gain the most damage out of my Rotom. Modest nature provides me with even more power, pumping up my special attack to over 500 with the choice specs bonus. The moveset is pretty stsandard as well. Volt Switch and Hydro Pump are an amazing combo for STAB, and Hidden Power Fire is to be able to catch pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Breloom for surprise. Trick is to cripple walls that i predict switching in, or when i am about to faint just to cripple the pokemon.

Angel (Jirachi) @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 224 SDef / 32 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Iron Head
- Thunder Wave
- Wish
- Protect
Jirachi is very important to my team so that i dont get blown to bits by Lati@s. He is also very good at cripping faster pokemon with Thunder Wave, and walling special attacks in general. He also provides wish support for my team, which is invaluble at moments in a battle. Serene Grace really helps me Para-Flinch my opponents to death and really saved me a few times in battles. The EVs are pretty standard, pumping a lot into HP and Special Defense to be able to tank the Lati's and other special hits. The speed lets me outspeed most standard gliscor. Careful Nature pumps even more points into my special defense. Iron Head is the main move here, allowing me to get off a STAB attack, and a chance for a flinch, which is doubled by Serene Grace. Thunder Wave adds to the hax, allowing me to get a chance of Paralyze as well as a flinch. Wish and protect are there to heal myself, and other pokemon on my team. Protect is also used to scout a bit as well if i need it.

MenceMeat (Salamence) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Fang
Salamence is way underrated. Just because Dragonite gets Multiscale doesnt mean anything. Choice Scarf MoxieMence really is a threat. Adamant nature and max attack EVs let Salamence hit 404 attack unboosted, which is amazing, especially with a 120 base STAB attack at his disposal as well. Neutral speed nature with max speed EVs and a choice scarf let him hit 448 speed as well, outspeeding Scarfed Rotom-Wash and bulky +1 Dragonite. Outrage is the main attack for sweeping lategame, but i will normally go with Dragon Claw if it is early game and i don't want to get locked in right away. Earthquake and Fire Fang really are just fillers and situational. After every kill i get +1 attack, which really makes him a much more effective late game sweeper.

Magnezone @ Leftovers
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Flash Cannon
Magnezone is the best at what he does. He is able to trap steel types really easily, and own them with STAB Thunderbolt, and hidden power fire's. He is mainly here for skarmory and Ferrothorn, since Dugtrio can kill the other two common steel types, Heatran and Jirachi. Modest nature and max special attack lets magnezone hit 393 Special Attack. Max speed also lets him hit 218, which may not seem good, but it lets him outspeed things such as defensive politoed and standard tyranitar. Substitute is there so that Magnezone can block leech seeds and other status moves from Ferrothorn, and so that magnezone can get a free attack off after killing the steel type he trapped. Hidden Power Fire and Thunderbolt are the main attacking moves, Thunderbolt being STAB, and Hidden Power Fire being super effective against all steel types bar heatran. Flash cannon is for filler, and it's stab, so why not. Magnezone is also a great pivot with many great resistances.

Dugtrio (F) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Substitute
- Earthquake
- Reversal
Dugtrio is a monster in the current metagame. Moving all the way up from NU to OU is no small feat [Skrew you Gastrodon] and scoring KO's on many key pokemon such as Heatran, Jirachi, Tyranitar, Ninetales, and more. Focus Sash usually lets me KO a pokemon and set up stealth rocks, or it lets me get off a reversal, which reaches 250 base power when i hit 1 HP. Max Attack and Speed are obvious choices, so that i can gain the most out of Dugtrio's subpar attack stat and amazing speed stat, outspeeding everything in the metagame bar scarfers. Stealth Rock is so that i can get up entry hazards which really cripple the likes of dragonite, salamence, and volcarona. Substitute is for when i scout, or when something may be locked on an electric attack and i can easily set up on it. Earthquake is STAB, and is really good at taking out the aforementioned pokemon since its stab and super effective. Reversal is there as a last ditch effort when my focus sash is gone, and does a lot of damage to pokemon that try to revenge kill it.

I have a modification to recommend to Dugtrio: Scrap Substitute. Yes, it lets Dugtrio take one extra attack, but Focus Sash would have done that already, and now you've broken it. Consider switching it out for Stone Edge (for EdgeQuake coverage if you're in a tight spot) or Sucker Punch (for use against scarfers, Trick Room Reuniclus, etc). If you're really intent on setting up on helpless foes, perhaps you could run Hone Claws instead and boost to +6 at your leisure.

Also, the highest BP that Reversal can achieve is 200, not 250.

Hope I've helped!

Oh ok. I was thinking of putting endeavor there for when I think it could do more damage than reversal or reversal. Thanks.

Don't do that. Substitute is great for when you are staring down a stubborn Tyranitar that won't attack. If you run the right IVs + EVs (21 HP IVs and 0 HP EVs) you have 201 HP, each Sub has a value of 50 HP so if you use Substitute 4 times it's the same thing as getting knocked down to a Focus Sash.

He's kind of a noob I guess.

A well-played Gastrodon is real trouble...it completely walls Rotom-W, Magnezone, and Jirachi - your best bet is to stall it out with Mew but a well-timed Toxic on the switch and you're done for. It also appears that you have trouble with a simple Scizor + Rotom-W Volt-Turn core. So, I'd like to see you try a specially defensive Bulk Up Breloom; not only is it one of the top sweepers in the metagame, it also counters Gastrodon with ease and is one of the more reliable stops to Volt-Turn. As an added bonus, it really helps beat down Drizzle stall teams. Run a Careful nature, with an EV spread of 232 HP / 216 SpDef / 60 Spe, and a moveset of Spore | Bulk Up | Seed Bomb | Drain Punch. To make room, I would drop Salamence; running a choice user that's weak to Stealth Rock without the support of a Rapid Spinner is generally not a good idea, and therefore Mence seems to be the weak link of the team, although I agree that Scarf MoxieMence is a solid mon in general.

If this idea doesn't appeal to you, at least try HP Grass on Rotom-W to make Gastrodon less of a problem.. The loss of HP Fire is no big deal; you don't need to hit Ferrothorn / Scizor, just Volt Switch out of them and trap with Magnezone (not to mention, the latter also takes a ton of damage from Specs Hydro Pump).

Alright, i'll give it a try. I ran a Bulk Up Breloom on one of my rain teams before, and its really good.

Nice Team, The only thing I want to say is to Probably Scrap Fire Fang on 'Mence. Fire Blast does a Lot more to Skarmory and Forretress, and Is just a better situational move then Fire Fang

What? Excuse me, but that's dumb. If you're staring down a Tyranitar that won't attack, just use Earthquake. Besides, you can't put up a new Sub if the old one is still there- which is exactly what would happen with your hypothetical pacifist T-Tar.
