PU Scyther (QC 2/2) (GP 1/1)

[OVERVIEW]
:ss/scyther:
Scyther is a decent pivot in PU due to its decent Speed tier and high Attack. Scyther also possesses a resistance to Fighting and semi-decent bulk, granting it some defensive utility. In addition, Scyther can easily apply offensive pressure due to its Technician-boosted Dual Wingbeat and Knock Off. However, Scyther has a mediocre defensive typing with a weakness to Flying- and Rock-types, both of which are common in the tier. Scyther also has difficulty checking Fighting-types, as many of them carry either Knock Off or Stone Edge. Furthermore, Scyther has difficulty breaking through common walls even with a boost, and while it has a decent Speed tier, it is still outsped by common threats such as Archeops, Talonflame, Heliolisk, and Virizion. Finally, Scyther faces stiff competition from Archeops and Talonflame, as they provide more utility and power to a team.

[SET COMMENTS]
Scyther is an excellent momentum grabber due to its offensive presence. Knock Off cripples common switch-ins such as Regirock and Talonflame, making them easier to pressure. Roost is an option to extend Scyther's longevity while also taking advantage of its natural ability to force switches and passive Pokemon such as Palossand.

Scyther fits nicely on VoltTurn teams due to its pivoting abilities. Lanturn works well with Scyther, as Lanturn can bring it in via a slow Volt Switch and cure its status with Heal Bell while checking Pokemon such as Talonflame that it has a hard time against. Other Volt Switch users such as Heliolisk and Vikavolt also pair nicely with Scyther, as they handle each other’s weaknesses while forming a VoltTurn core. Virizion and Passimian appreciate Scyther bringing them in via U-turn against Pokemon Scyther struggles to break through, such as Regirock and Silvally-Steel.

[OVERVIEW]

Scyther is a decent pivot in the PU metagame due to its great speed tier and strong U-turns and Technician-boosted Dual Wingbeats. Scyther also possesses a resistance to Fighting, one of the most common types in the tier and semi-decent bulk, granting it some defensive attributes utility? presence? it's only a singular attribute. However, Scyther is cursed with a 4x weakness to Rock and many other weaknesses to Fire, Ice, and Electric plus it can't take on dark types or other knock users due to needing boots, probably worth a mention. Scyther has difficulty breaking through common defensive Pokemon such as Gigalith, Sivally-Steel, and Weezing without a boost more like even with boosts tbh, and while its aforementioned speed tier is decent enough, it is still outsped by common? top? something like that threats such as Archeops, Talonflame, Heliolisk, and Virizion. Finally, Scyther faces mild not really mild, pretty major competition really competition from other Flying-types like Archeops and Talonflame as they provide more utility or power to a team, but Technician is enough to grant it relevance it's less technician and more a combo a bunch of factors that all give it a niche, idk how to sum it up but it shouldn't be just on tech.

As mentioned above, Scyther is an excellent momentum grabber due to its offensive presence. Swords Dance allows Scyther to act as a wincon once its checks are either weakened or removed it's really more of a way to break things, I'd never expect Scyther to sweep but at +2 you can break a half health weezing or something. Knock Off cripples common switchins such as Regirock and Talonflame, making them easier to deal. Roost is an option to extend Scyther’s longevity while also taking advantage of Scyther’s natural ability to force switches.

Scyther fits nicely on offensive-oriented teams due to Dual Wingbeat’s power and ability to pivot easily. Rock-types such as Gigalth and Regirock are recommended due to providing valuable defensive support for Scyther while taking care of Fire- and Flying-types. Similarly, Grass-types like Ferroseed and Virizion can weaken said Rock-types enough for Scyther to come in and break through them. Volt Switch users such as Heliolisk and Vikavolt also pair nicely with Scyther, as both handle each other’s weaknesses while forming a VoltTurn core. need to mention mons to help hit phys def stuff that sits on Scyther, it really needs breaking help

Scyther is a decent pivot in the PU metagame due to its great speed tier and strong U-turns and Technician-boosted Dual Wingbeats. Scyther also possesses a resistance to Fighting, one of the most common types in the tier and semi-decent bulk, granting it some defensive utility. i really think the first two sentences could be merged into smth much shorter However, Scyther is cursed with a 4x weakness to Rock it run boots though and many other weaknesses to Fire, Ice, and Electric, are those relevant weaknesses though? like, u beat all fires bar talonflame and the ice mons are slower, meaning neither are big issues. mentioning the flying weakness or the rock one would make more sense as there's stuff like archeops n lycanroc as well as being unable to properly check Dark-types i think u mean fighting-types? but regardless koff is not even the biggest issue - they p much all have coverage for it due to fearing Knock Off. Scyther has difficulty breaking through common defensive Pokemon such as Gigalith, Sivally-Steel, and Weezing even with a boost, and while its aforementioned speed tier is decent enough, it is still outsped by common threats such as Archeops, Talonflame, Heliolisk, and Virizion. the info here is all good but i think this should be made much shorter. for example u can talk abt the common faster threats it's forced out by while mentioning its typing

As mentioned above, Scyther is an excellent momentum grabber due to its offensive presence. Swords Dance allows Scyther break through walls such as Palossand and Aromatisse after enough boosts. Knock Off cripples common switchins such as Regirock and Talonflame, making them easier to deal pressure. Roost is an option to extend Scyther’s longevity while also taking advantage of Scyther’s natural ability to force switches. it mainly allows u to use passive mons like palo as setup fodder

Scyther fits nicely on offensive-oriented teams due to Dual Wingbeat’s power (i mean, it's not necessarily because of that? like, technician dwb is a big part of what makes it good, sure, but i wouldnt frame it as the reason as to why it's mostly good on offense, especially not when the first partners u mention are defensive ones. i'd just get rid of this sentence as it doesnt add anything) and ability to pivot easily. Rock-types such as Gigalth and Regirock are recommended due to providing valuable defensive support for Scyther while taking care of Fire- and Flying-types. (this point shouldnt be solely abt rock-types - u could mention other partners like lanturn too. those rock-types really dont do much for scyther outside of that, at least lanturn can bring it in via volt switch and cure it of status with heal bell. but also since u're gonna mention lanturn just merge this point with the volt switch mons) Similarly, Grass-types like Ferroseed (ferro is cringe and it's not really gonna weaken those steels directly. i'd also write this point differently; smth like "attackers like virizion and passimian appreciate scyther bringing them in against pokemon it struggles to break through such as silvally-steel and regirock". n yeah just make this point more general and not just abt grass-types) and Virizion can weaken said Rock-types enough for Scyther to come in and break through them. (i kinda dislike this wording because realistically no one is keeping their rock-type in against a grass mon) Volt Switch users such as Heliolisk and Vikavolt also pair nicely with Scyther, as both handle each other’s weaknesses while forming a VoltTurn core. Pokemon that can deal with physically defensive walls that Scyther struggles with, such as Passimian and Basculin are also greatly appreciated. (move the voltturn partners higher up - it's the main archetype scyther works on)
