Earth Eater lets Iron Hands set up safely versus Great Tusk, Swampert, and the Landorus formes as well as check Roaring Moon. Substitute gives Iron Hands a way to set up freely on walls like Corviknight, Skarmory, and Iron Treads while preventing threats like Deoxys-S and Choice Band Zamazenta from coming in and forcing Iron Hands out. 60 HP and 252 Special Defense EVs let the Substitute withstand two hits from Pecharunt's Malignant Chain, protecting Iron Hands from being poisoned.

Iron Hands is best suited for balance and bulky offense team structures that appreciate its defensive prowess and ability to sweep opposing teams. Scream Tail is a significant threat to Iron Hands, as it outspeeds and OHKOes Iron Hands with Boomburst whether its a behind a Substitute or not, so checks to Scream Tail like Iron Treads, Manaphy, and Swampert are important. Without a Substitute, Iron Hands is susceptible to strong attackers like Deoxys-S, Latios, and Azelf, so partners that can switch into these threats like the aforementioned Iron Treads, Manaphy, and Swampert are valuable; in return, they appreciate Iron Hands for its ability to check Roaring Moon, Great Tusk, and Kingambit. Iron Hands struggles to deal with Pecharunt, so offensive checks to it like Gholdengo and Roaring Moon are quite helpful.

Also its main job isnt rly being a switchin, ee lets it flip the mu the things that would ruin its sweep / gives it setup opportunities. Also lets it beat eq moon Substitute gives Iron Hands a way to set up freely on walls like Corviknight, Skarmory, and Iron Treads. Although u do set up sub on the walls, its to stop stuff like deos coming in and forcing u out 60 HP and 252 Special Defense EVs let Iron Hands take the Substitute withstand two hits from Pecharunt's Malignant Chain im not sure if its completely right grammatically but this is more concise and smoother to read ,protecting Iron Hands from a potential poison. before Iron Hands's Substitute breaks while the rest of the EVs are dumped into Attack to make it stronger.
