XY Doubles Second Impressions

Hello, it's Benja299 here, with both my first post as a Doubles driver and my 135! This is not a coincidence... I had planned to RMT this yesterday, but my 135 approached way too fast (love to shitpost I guess). But then yesterday when I was at 133 posts, someone nominated me for Driver. The coincidence was too perfect; it was like divine intervention brought this together. Don't skip to the end. Enough with the 135, now on to the team!

This team ended up being basically just generally Level 51 things on a team together, not even using any new Pokemon. While all of the members of the team interplay rather nicely, there is little specialization and the team is very adaptable to different scenarios. In the future I'd like to build teams that are a little more generic, but this serves as a good outro from the best metagame

The Team

such counter (Gliscor) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 32 HP / 252 Atk / 224 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- U-turn
Gliscor is pretty much a better Landoge. Hyper Cutter is a better ability than intimidate, because you don't get affected by intimidate! Also, it learns all the same moves, so I don't see why other people don't use it. Gliscor beats landoge 1v1, because of stone edge misses. Also, you can bluff poison heal, so people won't toxic your gliscor. I usually lead gliscor + hypno for u-turn and trick room.

much lamp (Lanturn) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Discharge
- Heal Bell
- Protect
Lanturn is pretty much the MVP of the team (the team relies on parafullpara from discharge to win). It's much better than rotom, because it gets access to discharge, which happens to be one of the luckynbaddest best moves in doubles! scald is there for burning physical attackers. Scald is better than WoW, because it also does damage, and never misses! I put heal bell because discharge paralyzes lanturn's partner almost 100% of the time (I think that's a game mechanic, but don't quote me on that), and I need to get rid of annoying paralysis. The only downside to this is that sometimes it heals flareon's status, which means no more guts boost.

upload_2014-10-27_23-20-13.png
many power (Durant) @ Wide Lens
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spe
Jolly Nature
- X-Scissor
- Iron Head
- Facade
- Protect
I was originally considering mega scizor in this slot, but then the prospect of using durant was brought to my attention by the PS! room user Joeys Raticate (god bless him). Durant is faster than scizor, and gets hustle, which is effectively a choice band with 0 downsides! Also, I put facade, in case people think they can status this monster, and for lanturn's annoying ass discharge.

upload_2014-10-27_23-21-26.png
wow (Hypno) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Insomnia
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 30 SpA / 30 SpD / null Spe
- Trick Room
- Psychic
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Protect
Hypno is my "semi TR setter" (quote from a PS! room user who will remain anonymous), and he does his job extremely well. I have air balloon, because I need a mon for gliscor to safely EQ beside. For some reason, his hidden power is flying in battles instead of ground, so I think illuminati's been messing with my teams. I hate people who hack the game (these people are also the people solely responsible for any of my losses in battles), but besides that minor flaw, hypno is perfect!

upload_2014-10-27_23-21-8.png
so sleep (Gloom) @ Eviolite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP / 192 Def / 64 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Sleep Powder
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Protect
Gloom is my TR sleep spammer. He is way better than amoonguss, because due to his inability to learn rage powder, he can run dual STABs! sludge bomb sometimes 3HKOs ludicolo, but I don't actually know because I didn't calc it. also, gloom beats amoonguss 1v1. I was originally going to EV it to live some notable moves like tflame brave bird, but since I'm RMTing this team, I figured other people would just do my EVs for me! Gloom is also my sun counter, because it has chlorophyll!

upload_2014-10-27_23-21-56.png
very kill (Flareon) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Superpower
- Facade
- Protect
Flareon's coming for yo bitches. This monster is so hawt, he'll roast your whole team under TR! I was originally going to use heatran in this slot, but then I realized that when I did /ds fire type, flash fire, flareon was there! Flareon has singlehandedly won games for the team, and he is the MVP in most matches.

Replays (pwnemon didn't have these for some reason, probably because he never won)
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogondoubles-177496678
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogondoubles-177898323
Every other game I played with this team was a bg that I got haxd in, so no other worthwhile replays.

As I said, this team is perfect. Here are 0 problems I've noticed with it:
-Trouble with Fires. Especially ones that set up. Two of the biggest threats to my team are Charizard X and Volcarona; once they've set up, there's basically nothing that can take them down short of a sac and some major opponent misplays.
-Lower ladder gimmicks that involve boosting your defenses. These beat me every time because my team can't output enough damage to stop them.

Thanks for reading, happy battling, merry 135 to me, don't delete please!

ALL RIGHT TIME FOR SHOUTOUTS:
shoutouts (open)

Hey Benja299! I know this was prolly meant to be a joke rmt, but i actually quite like some of the concepts (typical Level 51 style .__.). I think this team could actually work, so, uh, yeah. Here we go.

Gliscor: Change Knock Off --> Ice Fang. This lets you ACTUALLY beat Landorus-Therian 1-on-1.
252+ Atk Gliscor Ice Fang vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Landorus-T: 276-328 (86.5 - 102.8%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
well kinda.

Lanturn: pls. If you're going to use the best Water/Electric type in the format at least use it for the reason it's the best Water/Electric type in the format. I strongly suggest changing your moveset to Scald / Thunderbolt / Ion Deluge / Protect. I'm not kidding, in case you were wondering. Also, change your EV Spread to 104 HP / 168 Def / 84 SpA / 152 SpD with a Calm Nature. This EV spread survives Timid Shaymin-S's Seed Flare and Adamant Landorus-T's Earthquake (assuming spread damage weaken).

Durant: Durant is a cool Pokemon, props on that. Your team seems a little weak to Mega Kangaskhan at the moment, I suggest changing Facade --> Superpower.

Hypno: this is actually pretty cool. I suggest changing Insomnia --> Inner Focus so that you can set up TR even in front of nasty Pokemon like Mega Kangaskhan. Maybe EV it a bit more defensively too, since it's not like Hypno can do much damage.

Gloom: use a spread of 248 HP / 156 Def / 104 SpD with a Bold Nature instead. This survives Adamant LO Talonflame's Brave Bird, LO Latios' Psyshock, and Timid Mega Gardevoir's Psychic and Psyshock. You also have a 7/16 chance of surviving Timid Mega Charizard Heat Wave in the Sun.

Flareon: Change your spread to 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 Def to survive Adamant LO Talonflame's Brave Bird and Azumarill's Aqua Jet. I also suggest using a Brave Nature on Flareon with 0 Speed IVs so you can underspeed more stuff so that you can kill more stuff under TR. The beauty of this new set is that even though not much has changed, you can have it sit next to Lanturn and go for a Facade + Ion Deluge combination on the Water- and Flying-types that try to get in your way:
252+ Atk Guts Flareon Facade (140 BP) (Electric-type) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Politoed: 434-512 (113 - 133.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Guts Flareon Facade (140 BP) (Electric-type) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Togekiss: 374-442 (100 - 118.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Guts Flareon Facade (140 BP) (Electric-type) vs. 164 HP / 0 Def Azumarill: 604-712 (158.1 - 186.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
-1 252+ Atk Guts Flareon Facade (140 BP) (Electric-type) vs. 252 HP / 208+ Def Gyarados: 588-692 (149.2 - 175.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Guts Flareon Facade (140 BP) (Electric-type) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 548-646 (169.6 - 200%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Guts Flareon Facade (140 BP) (Electric-type) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Talonflame: 662-780 (222.8 - 262.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO -- you don't even need Ion Deluge for this one lmao!
252+ Atk Guts Flareon Facade (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Suicune: 446-526 (110.3 - 130.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

very strong team, wide lens Durant with 100% accurate attacks is a great meta call to compensate for hustle. It would really cool if you added fittywuns adjustments and made a serious team out of this but good job
