Under rain, Seismitoad can outspeed a good portion of the metagame, including Zacian-C, Eternatus, and Modest Shell Smash Polteageist. In addition, it has an interesting niche in being one of the few offensive Water-types to learn Stealth Rock and have an immunity to Electric-type moves. When rain is active, Hydro Pump is Seismitoad's main STAB of choice, which 2HKOes a good portion of the metagame, including Gothitelle, Galarian Corsola, and Corviknight after Stealth Rock damage, to name a few examples. In addition, it notably OHKOes Quagsire that may try to cripple or set up on it. Earth Power can actually OHKO Toxapex, Zacian-C, and Life Orb Eternatus, after Stealth Rock damage. Focus Blast is essential for countering Ferrothorn, but try to see if it has Power Whip first; it can also be used to take down Hydreigon after Stealth Rock damage and to potentially 2HKO Lapras. Alternatively, you can opt to run Sludge Wave, which can better and more accurately deal with foes such as Hatterene, Zacian, and Clefable, but be careful, as this makes Seismitoad unable to deal with Ferrothorn as effectively. Seismitoad also works well at setting Stealth Rock effectively, since it can scare away Tyranitar, Torkoal, and Hippowdon on a switch to set up its own entry hazards. It can also have a chance to OHKO Corviknight after Stealth Rock damage should it try to remove entry hazards with Defog. Life Orb goes in tandem with a Modest nature and respective EV spread to help ensure Seismitoad is hitting as hard as possible while giving it flexibility while attacking. It should be noted that Seismitoad has good Dynamax potential as well; it can freely set up rain without relying on Pelipper and, if running Sludge Wave, can get a Special Attack boost from Max Ooze.
Because rain plays such a major role in Seismitoad's ability to perform well, Pelipper is a critical teammate to have; it is able to set up rain on a switch in and bring Seismitoad in via a slow U-turn after the weather change. Alternatively, since Seismitoad can struggle against other Water-type Pokemon such as Gyarados and Rotom-W, Ferrothorn makes for a good teammate, as it is able to tank opposing rain-boosted attacks and offer Spikes support to boot. Gyarados itself can make for a deadly setup sweeper under rain along with Seismitoad and can get an added boost with Moxie. Corviknight can also make for a good teammate, as it can not only pivot Seismitoad in and effectively go up against Zacian on a switch, but can also offer Defog support to further help keep Seismitoad healthy.
