SS Doubles OU Self Weakness in Doubles OU

After watching VGC on youtube for a little, I searched up some sample teams and saw self weakness teams. If you don't know the concept, its basically like this. You lead with 2 pokemon, use one to trigger weakness policy, do damage. Its pretty OP, and one of the most common thing is Bulldoze Dusclops+Rhyperior. Its a deadly duo and I decided to bring it to Doubles OU!

Now enjoy the team!
wartortle.gif

Wartortle @ Eviolite
Ability: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Flip Turn
- Follow Me
- Ice Punch
- Rapid Spin
I haven't seen many teams with hazards but this is decent at getting rid of hazards. I'm not sure what else to say. I would like a better replacement so I'd like some help on that. Its also able to provide redirection and able to pivot out if needs be. Rain Dish is to try to leech onto some benefits from rain teams because those are actually dangerous.
metagross.gif

Metagross @ Choice Band
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Self-Destruct
- Bullet Punch
- Hammer Arm
- Meteor Mash
This is to weaken opponents and it can go boom haha. Because none of my team resists normal types, I just went for self destruct. Its a trade. It can actually do some damage with band. This is just here because I have no idea what else to put on this slot. It can also absorb damage to ensure a safe switch in for anybody. If they have a huge boost, I sack this one right here.
porygon2.gif

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Psyshock
- Tri Attack
- Recover
Bulk. Not sure what else to say. Its possible to run Psych Up but its kinda difficult to get the psych up off because every mon is targeting it after Moltres gains a +2 boost. I could, but it hasn't proved succesfull. Electroweb is a good move but during 2v2 situations, it doesn't do enough damage so Tri Attack was used instead. Psychock is just there because its a good move and gains boost from Lele
tapulele.gif

Tapu Lele @ Choice Specs
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Psyshock
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
No priority for everybody but moltres. There is no way to prevent priority sooo this thing just here to weaken opponents so Moltres has a path to a clean clean sweep. Psyshock in case of assault vest anything with a decent SPDef stat. It can successfuly do some damage to Chansey and Blissey as well. The other moves are just for more coverage. Specs Lele is a hard hitter.
moltres-galar.gif

Moltres-Galar @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Berserk
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fiery Wrath
- Hyper Voice
- Shadow Ball
- Air Slash
The one who gains the boost. Its commonly used in vgc i think. Fiery Wrath is a great move with 90 BP and hitting both opponents. The 20% flinch chance is also amazing. If luck likes you, it'll literally win you the game. Hyper Voice as well to hit fairy, dark, and fighting type pokemon Shadow Ball for coverage and Air Slash for further STAB.
comfey.gif

Comfey @ Leftovers
Ability: Triage
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draining Kiss
- Ally Switch
- Floral Healing
- Toxic
Comfey triggers the weakness policy. Triage increases Draining Kiss' priority to frikin +3. Thats the same priority as fake out( i think) and protect(I think too). Ally Switch to help absorb hits, and Floral Healing to heal moltres. Toxic wears them down. Also, Moltres has a neat ability called beserk so when you heal them and hey do damage, they increase the SPA stat even further, causing more desctruction.

Threats that I think are threats.

Trick Room.

Trick Room teams are relatively effective when used properly. With all the Pokémon not meant to be in trick room, it can wreck me. Porygon2 and Metagross can do something as Porygon2 is commonly used in trick room and Metagross carries Hammer Arm, allowing it to outspeed a lot of mons in Trick Room. Wartortle doesn't have decent speed tier so I guess that counts?

Weather

Sand Rush, Swift Swim, Chlorophyll, and the rare Slush Rush. These outspeed my team massively as none of my Pokémon have a good speed tier. The fastest is comfey with a 317 speed I think. This can wreck me so the most you can do is just pull in Wartortle/Porygon and Metagross to try to put in range of Lele or Porygon2/Wartortle to finish off

Didn't frogot pokepaste lol
Not the Pokepaste
With that, this concludes this team. I'm not sure how effective this is, but one thing I do know is that it can be massively improved and has a lot of potential. If possible, I ask you to please leave a comment/tip in the comments(duh) to help me improve this.

Hi! I see your team is built around activating Galar Moltres's Weakness Policy with priority Draining Kiss from Comfey and supporting it with Floral Healing and Ally Switch. I'm not sure how is fares in the VGC metagame, but the strategy is not very viable in Doubles OU. If you look at the recently updated SS Doubles OU Viability Rankings, you'll see that the duo struggles against many common threats. The two best Pokemon in the tier, Kyurem-Black and Tapu Fini, blow up the entire strategy. Life Orb Ice Beam kills more often than not (offensive set will always out-speed as well), and Assault Vest / Misty Seed sets take <50% from boosted Fiery Wrath while Ice Beam is still a clean 2HKO. Tapu Fini 2HKOs with zero investment Moonblast and can boost up with Calm Mind to counteract the Weakness Policy and/or Berserk boosts while taking very little from Fiery Wrath and being able to handle Air Slashes. Faster Fake Out from Mew (the whole point of Comfey is its ability so you really shouldn't be running Speed) disrupts the combination and can set Tailwind to allow its partner to outspeed and do big damage to Galar Moltres. Even slow Fake out from Incineroar can be used on Galar Moltres and let its teammate kill it. Special shoutout to Nihilego who outspeeds and OHKOs both Galar Moltres and Comfey as well as Diancie who takes 0 damage from the bird and can set Trick Room or easily 2HKO. The strategy is also extremely obvious so experienced players will always see it coming and be able to play around it.

TL;DR: Galar Moltres + Comfey is not viable in DOU because it struggles against a lot of common threats and is also easy to see coming and let your opponent play against it.

While I wouldn't run those two to begin with, your last four are definitely not strong partners to the duo. There is no reason to run Wartortle over Blastoise who doesn't have to run Eviolite and doesn't fear Knock Off as much. I think Metagross is a little underrated, but I'm not a fan of Choice Band Self-Destruct. You also have no Protect or Ghost-types to boom next to. Porygon2 is a strong Pokemon, but not the 252+ Special Attacking variant and SemiRoom doesn't really fit with Galar Moltres + Comfey. Specs Tapu Lele isn't the worst option, but it doesn't even protect Galar Moltres from priority.

TL;DR: I wouldn't run Galar Moltres + Comfey in general, but especially not with your current other four.

If I were to run those two, I would probably use these sets:
Moltres-Galar @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Berserk
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fiery Wrath
- Hurricane
- Nasty Plot
- Protect

Comfey @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Triage
EVs: 252 HP / 180 Def / 76 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draining Kiss
- Ally Switch
- Floral Healing
- Tailwind
I choose Hurricane over Air Slash for the extra damage. The whole point of Galar Moltres is to hit as hard as possible and I think I would risk the accuracy for the extra power, but Air Slash also probably works. Shadow Ball and Hyper Voice offer zero coverage or any reason to really click so I replaced it with Protect and Nasty Plot. Protect is the best move in Doubles and I would say is mandatory on Galar Moltres to avoid Fake Out and let Comfey support it with Tailwind. I chose Nasty Plot as the last slot (it doesn't have any actually solid options) but Substitute is also an option. Like I mentioned earlier, Comfey's ability makes running Speed not needed. I replaced Toxic with Tailwind for speed control and the EVs let it survive 2 4 Atk Miracle Seed Kartana Leaf Blade with Sitrus Berry (it doesn't run Steel Stab). Another benchmark probably works but this was the first one I found.

Let me know if you want help filling out a team around these two. Again, I don't think it's particularly good but I would still be happy to help regardless. You can respond here or message me on Discord at emma ❤#4133.

Good luck and feel free to reach out!
