Semi Stall Showers: A Semi Stall Rain Team
Hello Hello, My name is Prince of Persian and I'm bringing out another RMT. This by far is one of my favorite teams to use and features a play style that is reminiscent of Gen 5, rain semi stall. Even with the rain nerf, Gen 6 did give rain semi stall some cool pokes to use and those will be featured in this RMT. So...on to the team!

The Team
Politoed @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Toxic
- Hypnosis
- Encore
Politoed's main job is to set up rain, period. Scald is a must-have for pretty much every bulky Water-type, and Politoed's rain makes it even stronger. Toxic is a crippling status for most Politoed switch-ins like Vaporeon and Lati. Encore is used to foil attempts of using Politoed as setup bait while also giving teammates switch-in opportunities. Hypnosis cripples a single Pokemon for the majority, if not the entirety, of the battle; however, its low accuracy and the change in sleep mechanics are setbacks.
Goodra @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 252 HP / 148 Def / 108 SpD
Bold Nature
- Rain Dance
- Infestation
- Muddy Water
- Rest
Goodra is my special defensive rain setter. Ev's are pretty standard as I have max HP and some defense investment to take as much hits as possible. What makes this set so scurry is Rain Dance in conjunction with Rest. This gives Goodra a decent recovery option especially because most people expect an Assault Vest. With this, Goodra can take on threats like Thundurus and Mega Manetric, that would be hazardous to this team, and then Rest off the damage. THE TWO OTHER MOVES ARE CHANGEABLE. The only reason I run infestation and Muddy Water is because it really can annoy some people by trapping them with Infestation and proceeding to attack with a rain boosted Muddy Water and possibly drop their accuracy. This makes Goodra really hard to take down.
Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Defog
- Roost
- Counter
Skarmory is fantastic in the rain allowing it to take some Fire Type attacks. In the rain, Skarmory can wall threats like Fire Blast Garchomp, Fire Blast T-Tar, and Fire Fang Mawile. I feel that this set is pretty self explanatory. Counter destroys those physical attackers that feel fresh and ready. Defog to removes entry hazards. Stealth Rocks, though i feel Skarm isn't the best at it, is to set up those ever important hazards. Roost is for recovery.
Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- King's Shield
- Iron Head
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball

Sassy Nature
- King's Shield

- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
Specially Defensive Aegislash does a fantastic job of tanking shit in the rain. It can take fire type attacks from Mega Manetric and Clefable and throw out a meaningful Shadow Ball and Iron Head respectively. King's Shield allows Aegislash to scout, get more Leftovers recovery, and most importantly, change back to its Shield forme. It also allows it to lower the physicalAttack of anything that hits it with a contact move. Substitute allows me get behind a sub and wall thing's like Ferrothorn and Mega Venusaur as they can't hit me with leech seed.
Heracross @ Heracronite
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spe

Heracross @ Heracronite
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Pin Missile
- Rock Blast
- Earthquake
Ah Heracross...you my friend are a monster. Close Combat reaches jaw dropping power coming off Mega Heracross's massive Attack stat, and there's very little that can stomach it easily. It's also its best option for dealing with bulky Steel-types such as Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Air Balloon Heatran. Pin Missile is also an extremely powerful STAB move, cutting through Psychic-types such as Latias and Latios, as well as Dark-types such as Greninja and Tyranitar. In general, Pin Missile is Mega Heracross's most reliable option against Pokemon that don't take super effective damage from any of its coverage moves, such as Rotom-W or Hippowdon, both of whom are 2HKOed after Stealth Rock. Rock Blast provides important coverage against Togekiss, Gengar, Gyarados, and Dragonite, which would wall this set otherwise. It's also useful for hitting Talonflame and Mega Pinsir on the switch. Earthquake is the best option in the last slot to hit Aegislash, who resists all of its coverage moves and threatens to completely wall Heracross without it.
Manaphy @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 20 Spe
Bold Nature

- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Rest

Manaphy @ Leftovers

This set aims to take a more patient approach to sweeping once the opponent's Pokemon are weakened and most powerful attackers are gone. Calm Mind allows Manaphy to boost its Special Attack and Special Defense, simultaneously increasing its already decent bulk and attacking power, but the real terror of this set lies in its ability: Hydration. Using Rest while rain is up fully recovers Manaphy's health and then cures the sleep at the end of the turn. Hydration also protects Manaphy from status. Unfortunately, the price of this recovery is having to manually set up rain every five turns. Scald is the best STAB move to use, as adding burn damage to the opponent can be useful to allow Manaphy to set up easier, while essentially increasing its effective physical bulk.
Replays
Kyurem B tryna to kill me
Drag Mag ain't got shit on Rain Stall
No Sir Screen and Sweep, No Sir
Sweeperella don't like the rain
Threats
I really have to play around this and kill with CC from Hera
Hope that Scald will burn and set up with Manaphy.
If it's Mixed I can stall with Goodra but SD varation can sweep my life.
Set-up sweepers in general are a pain, especially this bitch Clefable.
Bolt beam is also a bitch.
Conclusion
Thank you for reading and I ask that your kind when rating. Thanks! Hope you enjoyed!
