Semi-Stall team 1800s

Hello everyone! This is my first RMT of this generation. I really like this team a lot and have a lot of fun playing with it. I wanted to come here and see how it could be improved.

I started the team wanted to use hippowdown because I was reading the OU viability thread and I had yet to try him in this generation.

I intended on trying specially defensive hippowdon, because of this I wanted something else that has great mixed bulk. I chose clefable because I have seen it do some incredible things and I also have not given it a try this generation.

At this point I decided that I wanted this to be a semi stall team. I have really liked zapdos lately and in order to do well as a semi stall team I would need some hazard control. Zapdos does a great job at this and can take the super strong special attacks that clefable and hippodon cannot handle.

To round out the defensive core I want another phazer and something that can stop talopnflame and other hard hitting fire types. I chose heatran because his ability to wall a plethora of attckers, its ability to lay down stealth rock.

To round out this team I want some wall breakers to get past stall and defensive cores in general. I really like keldeo this gen because it hits like a truck with zero set up. It also can easily take out the pink blobs which generally give this team a lot of trouble.

Last, I didn’t really know what to put here in this last slot. I wanted to try bisharp because of all the hype this season and being a psudo defog blocker.

I didn’t really feel like bisharp was fitting well on this team. I was having trouble with mega venusaur rotom-w and other random physically defensive threats. I decided to try kyurem black out to deal with those threats.

The team:
450.png
@ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
IVs: 0 SAtk
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Slack Off
- Whirlwind

Hippowdon does an amazing job at taking hits from both sides of the spectrum. It takes hits from strong special attackers such at Thundurus who threaten clefable and zapdos. The sand helps with slowly withering away all kinds of pokemon while also doing well at checking charizard-y (who generally causes problems for this team). Hippo also deals with aegislash very well with its slow earth quake and amazing mixed bulk.

647-regular.png
@ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def / 30 SDef
- Secret Sword
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power [Bug]
- Icy Wind

Keldeo adds a lot of sheer power to this team. Its hydro pump can wither down most walls and secret sword really helps the team deal with the pink blobs and other strong special walls. Icy wind is to surprise latios and other fater ice weak pokemon and then outspeeding them the next turn or predicting the switch. It also hits 4x weak pokemon very hard, generally OHKOing non-dragonites. Hidden power bug is there becase…… celebi I guess keldeo dones’t actually need that last slot and I might as well use something to lure in one of its counters.[/color]

@ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Lava Plume
- Stealth Rock
- Protect
- Roar

Heatran Is my hazard setter for the team. Heatran can take a plethora of hits from the special side and because of its amazing number of resistances it can also take a hefty number of physical attacks from the likes of talonflame bisharp and others. Heatran also adds a second phazer to the team to stop set ups and to spread around stealth rock damage.

@ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Wish
- Protect

Having never used clefable before using this team, I did not really know what to expect. What I found is that clefable is a god. It takes physical hits like a champ and can often set up in the face of many special attackers. Clefable often is just used as a wish passing pivot after coming in on some sort of set up sweeper or a dragon type that cannot threaten her. This wish support helps the team stay healthy through stealth rock.
145.png
@ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 240 SDef / 16 Spd
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Heat Wave
- Roost
- Defog

Zapdos takes many special hits from Very hard hitting special attacksers (very often specs latios) and then roosts off the damage. Zapdos keeps momentum with volt switch which prevents itself from being set up on. Heatwave allows zapdos to threaten steel types such as scizor and ferrothorn or anything else that resists volt-switch.

My last teammate, Cube, patches a few holes in this team and really helps bring it all together. Cube can break many of the pokemon that give the rest of the team trouble. Rotom-W and mega venusaur are two of the most important. Though his main job is to take out those two pokemon if they rear their ugly heads, Cube hits like a truck in most situations and is generally useful in every battle.

I am going to rank the threat level of each pokemon on s scale of 1 to 10 (1 being no threat, 10 being I lose instantly). I know that there is an OU threat list but I feel that using the OU viability thread instead will show what is more relevant of a threat. Those with question marks are those that I have not seen or have not seen enough of to know how much of a threat that they pose and my rating of them is an estimate.

Hey man nice team you got here. I recommend going physically defensive on Zapdos, just because you already have so much special bulk between Heatran and Hippowdon, and Zapdos' typing lends itself more to taking physical attacks. Physical defense allows you to tank hits from Azumarill, Breloom, and Staraptor, all pokemon you listed as high level threats. It also helps with Exdadrill, Mega Gyarados, and Pinsir which is crucial as Zapdos is 2HKOd by unboosted Return after rocks, and the rest of your team is 2HKOd or OHKOd easily.

Rotom-w, Greninja, and Keldeo are all difficult to switch into for this team. WoW from Rotom-w is gonna ruin Kyurem-b pretty quickly, and nothing else can come in at all. Try running a mild nature, leftovers, and 56 HP EVs on Kyurem-b. This allows you to better check those threats and just gives a lot more longevity. Also, Stealth Rock over Whirlwind on Hippowdon, and WoW on Heatran over Stealth Rock allows you to greatly deter those Pokemon from switching in, and if they should they will be severely crippled by either Toxic from Hippowdon or WoW from Heatran.

Just some minor suggestions for an already solid team. Good luck dude.
