Set up the pins, then knock 'em down. (looking to improve!)

Hey! I've been playing with this team for a while and have worked out a few kinks, but am still not getting the full results I want. The aim of the team is to stall as much as possible and then sweep them at the end. I have met moderate success (and pissed off many competitors), reaching about 1650 on Pokemon Showdown. I like the strategy and the mons, but want to improve it as much as possible. So without further ado, let's take a look!

Gimpy
Sableye@Leftovers | Prankster
Careful | 252 HP / 120 DEF / 136 SPD
Will-o-wisp
Recover
Taunt
Foul Play

I mainly use Gimpy to counter other leads as well as spinblocking and prevent sweepers from setting up. His typing and use of Foul Play have also been great for getting rid of psychic types and others that normally prove difficult while also preventing him from being completely crippled by taunt. He's also always been a personal favorite from Gen III And I'm happy to have found a use for him!

598.png

Barb
Ferrothorn@leftovers | Iron Barbs
Relaxed | 252 HP / 88 DEF / SPD 168
Leech Seed
Stealth Rock
Protect
Power Whip

Chose Leech Seed and Stealth Rock for some extra recovery and a more reliable entry hazard (I tried spikes, and it never worked as well). I chose power whip over gyro ball for the type coverage. Considering giving a little more speed, but I've been happy with the nature so far. I've considered using a Forrettress instead, but Barb has been great so far!

472.png

Scorpio
Gliscor@Toxic Orb | Poison Heal
Impish | 252 HP / 185 DEF / 72 SPE
Substitute
Protect
Earthquake
Toxic

This used to be a Volcorona and a Heatran, but I decided to give up coverage for more stalling and I haven't regretted it since! Scorpio has been amazing for the stalling aspect on the team, especially when I get rid of the water and ice types. I already have a Tentacruel with Toxic Spikes, but Toxic here has been a great "just in case" move. I'm also considering using this in a mono-ground team I'm working on.

073.png

Ursula
Tentacruel@Black Sludge | Rain Dish
Bold | 252 HP / 240 DEF / 16 SPE
Scald
Toxic Spikes
Protect
Rapid Spin

Another great defensive substitution. Ursula used to be a Jellicent, but I realized that Ursula's resistances were more useful than the Jellicent's immunities. I've been considering ditching Rain Dish for Liquid Ooze, but I honestly have no idea. Scald is more for burning Steel types than for damage, while Toxic Spikes gets just about everything else. Rapid Spin is just a great addition to the things that are already helpful. :)

639.png

Brutus
Terrakion@Choice Scarf | Justified
Jolly | 252 ATK / 252 SPE / 4 SPD
Close Combat
Stone Edge
X-Scissor
Rock Slide

Now we get to the sweepers! I normally don't use legendaries, but Brutus did everything I wanted a physical sweeper to do. I love the coverage and the power that comes with him. However, I wanted more speed, so I scarfed him up. And by god, has this been bad ass. I chose to use Rock Slide for the extra flinch hax and increased accuracy over Stone Edge.

135.png

Comet
Jolteon@Life Orb | Volt Absorb
Timid | 252 SPE / 252 SPA / 4 DEF
Thunderbolt
Hidden Power Ice
Shadow Ball
Volt Switch

...and my special sweeper. Comet's speed and coverage has made him invaluable and Volt Absorb allows for much easier switch-in. I have had Comet on my OU teams for as far back as I can remember and I can't think of any pokemon doing his job better, but I am open to suggestions.
~~~~~
And that's the team! If anyone can tell me how to take this team to the next level, I'd really appreciate it.
Hello Uberhorse753! Nice team you got here, the only thing that I would consider changing is Jolteon to Agility Thundurus-T:
642-therian.gif
Thundurus-Therian @ Life Orb
Trait: Volt Absorb
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Modest Nature
- Agility
- Thunderbolt / Thunder
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast
This set really adds to the wallbreaking power your team needs, and can easily dispatch of the horrid Steel Types. It also serves a check to Electric-Types through Volt Absorb, and is the arguably better Volt Absorber. Agility Bolsters it's speeds to threatening levels, and Life Orb and Modest/252 will dent anything in it's way. In my opinion, Thundurus-T is the far better special sweeper. Thunder should be used if you take in my next suggestion.
Another suggestion I might add is fitting Politoed on your team somewhere, maybe in place of Sableye?
186.gif
Fo' Drizzle (Politoed) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Drizzle
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 240 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam
- Psychic
Politoed adds Rain, which lowers the Fire Weakness of Ferrothorn, adds extra recovery to Tentacruel, and allows Thundurus-T/Jolteon to use Thunder instead of Thunderbolt. Your team just screams it with the exception of Gliscor on it, which is normally found on Sand teams. Seriously, Politoed would help your team out. ALOT. Sableye to me looks like your weak link.
Hope you like my suggestions!
I would suggest a defensive Politoed for a stall team:
Politoed @Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
Evs: 252hp 252def 4spatk (Bold +def -atk)
Scald
Toxic
Perish Song
Protect
This Politoed will be a much better wall than the specs Politoed being able to switch moves and spread status. He has better synergy sith your team being a defensive supporter than an offensive specs user. As for adding thundurus t to the team I think Jolteon does the job just fine. He comes in blazing fast already without set up and with Politoed you can use thunder coming off a stab, life orb, and 100% accuracy in the rain will be great for revenge killing. As for who to replace Politoed with is up to you.
Thank you so much! I've been trying to survive without rain, but I guess it is inevitable... I'll give it a shot and let you know!
I looked over your team, and I must say it is really good. However I have a few suggestions that I feel are worth looking into.
There is nothing that stall teams love more than stacking hazards. You already have Rocks and Toxic Spikes. Ferrothorn has the natural bulk to set up spikes, especially if you add Politoed. IMO, you should put stealth rocks on your Gliscor and give Ferro Spikes. You already have a spinblocker in Sableye, so there is no reason not to run as many hazards as possible.
You don't have to take my suggestion and I completely understand if you don't.
I second the defensive Politoed, as what you basically have here, is a rain stall team without the rain! I run this set however, and it works out quite good, at least for me:
Politoed@Leftovers
Ability: Drizzle
EVs:252 HP 200 Def 56 SpAtk
Scald
Ice Beam/ Protect
Encore/ Toxic/ Protect
Perish Song
The third move is largely your preference, if you choose to run this set. You already have Toxic Spikes, so Toxic is largely a wasted move slot. Protect helps with Lefties and is really a good move, although Encore helps to lock your opponent into a move like Stealth Rocks so you can set up your other Pokes. If you really want Toxic then you can run Protect over Ice Beam, although the coverage Ice Beam provides makes it an equally valuable option.
You should also note that Scald and Toxic conflict with each other do to Scald's burn chance.
Anyway good luck with the team, and I hope I helped! :D
The reason I suggest Offensive Politoed, is because even though your team is a stall team, I think you should just add that little extra unf and use it to break the walls you can't. But, if you want to use DefenseiveToad, I understand.
