XY NU Shadynasty Balance - Peaked around 1450

Howdy. This is a cool balance(I think?) team I made the other day around Choice Scarf Jynx. It's been doing pretty well, though it struggles with stall a little bit, as well as bulky psychics like Uxie and Musharna. Anywho, I guess it's time to jump into the team.

Shadynasty (Jynx) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: null Atk
- Trick
- Ice Beam
- Psychic
- Focus Blast

Standard.scarfjynx. Not much to say about it. Hits like a truck and outspeeds common scarfers such as Sawk and Rotom. I don't see a lot of Foul Play in NU and to be fair Jynx probably isn't living it regardless but still 0 Attack IVs on the off chance it could live. I run Trick over Lovely Kiss because I'd rather cripple something annoying like Audino or Lickylicky than rely on shaky accuracy to put something to sleep.

Hans Moleman (Sandslash) @ Earth Plate
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin

Now, if there's one thing Jynx hates it's entry hazards. That's where this guy comes in. One of my favorite mons from R/B/Y and perhaps the most reliable spinner in the tier. I'd assume this is pretty standard for Sandslash, outside of mine having Earth Plate over Lefties for more power. Knock Off is there over Stone Edge to more reliably beat common spinblockers like Rotom, Mismagius, and Golurk. May or may not start running speed on this, not sure yet, or how much I should run if I decide to.

Precious (Hariyama) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Thick Fat
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Bullet Punch
- Heavy Slam

Here I started to notice I was Typhlosion weak so I added the NU staple AV Thick Fat Hariyama. I really don't feel like I need to elaborate too much on this set because it's basically standard. I do run Heavy Slam which I don't see too much anymore because its nice for Slurpuff who try to set up in its face, as well as catching Granbull on the switch. Close Combat and Knock Off are necessities, and Bullet Punch is nice priority.

Otto Mann (Samurott) @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Taunt
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot

After adding Yama I decided I wanted another special attacker, and I'd never used Samurott before, plus it can Taunt to prevent the entry hazards none of my other mons appreciate. The set is nothing new. I had HP Grass originally just because I forgot it could use Grass Knot. Each has their advantages, but I feel Grass Knot is better in NU simply because it kills Seismitoad whereas HP Grass only does 90% max.

Cool Guy (Weezing) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Sludge Bomb
- Fire Blast
- Pain Split

Here I noticed I was extremely weak to Sawk, Primape, and any other fast fighting type, so I added another favorite from first gen, Weezing. Looks cool and hard counters fighting spam as well as checks Belly Drum Slurpuff if it's not weakened. I'm running Fire Blast over Flamethrower because even though Weezing is defensive I prefer the extra power.

Mantis Toboggan (Audino) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Knock Off
- Heal Bell

This was originally a Pawniard as I noticed I was very Psychic weak between Weezing and Hariyama, but after a few games I noticed my team was getting worn down very quickly and I decided a cleric would be better, so in came Dr. Mantis Toboggan himself, Audino. I beat an entire team I would have lost to yesterday simply because I was able to keep my Hariyama healthy with this guy. Knock Off is there instead of like Double Edge or something because nothing is immune to dark, and plus Audino is very weak, so removing an item is better than trying to deal damage IMO.

In conclusion, I feel this team is pretty good and will likely be the last XY NU team I build, though if you have any suggestions for replacing a mon or changing EVs/Sets/etc., let me know. I'll put an importable version of the whole team below. Thanks for checking it out, and see you around.

I'd add pictures to make the whole thing look a lot better but I tried that with my last RMT and it didn't work, like it would just show the image you'd get if you couldn't load the picture, so if you wanna help with that it'd be cool but I'm not worried about it.

Hey pastanator this actually looks like a pretty solid balance team, you have covered a ton of threats with your core; however, your team lacks a solid wincon vs stall. I see no way to beat a solid stall team with your current setup, Samurott is nice for stall because of Taunt but there will be an answer to that and it will get worn down rather quickly. Therefore I am going to suggest a rather common wincon vs stall and say you should go Sub CM Uxie > Samurott. Samurott is a really nice mon but it looks to be the most replaceable Pokemon on your team, replacing it with Sub CM Uxie will give you a wincon vs stall and occasionally offense as well. My other minor change is to suggest Toxic Spikes > Fire Blast on Weezing, it means that you can no longer hit any Steel-types of which there are few, but what it does mean is that you can easily wear down offensive teams and get the win a lot more quickly.

Uxie @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 188 HP / 60 Def / 36 SpA / 224 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psyshock
- Giga Drain
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
Just gonna quote myself cause it makes it easier lol, "188 HP EVs and 60 Defense EVs let Uxie's Substitute take a Knock Off from Audino without breaking, while also providing a Leftovers number. 224 Speed EVs with a Timid nature let Uxie outspeed max Speed Rotom and other base 90 Speed Pokemon. 36 Special Attack EVs give Uxie a chance to 2HKO Feraligatr with Giga Drain."

Hope this helped ^.^

Hi Pastanator, your team looks quite solid but i have a few suggestions to help you improve it. Montsegur's suggestion of using another stallbreaker such as Uxie over Samurott is actually quite valid as, while you pretty much cover every threat in one way or another i can really see you struggle against stall teams as your only ways of beating it are a well timed Trick with Jynx (which can really make a difference) and a well played Samurott. Other Pokemon you could try over the aforementioned Samurott are Calm Mind Xatu and Musharna who both cover Uxie's role while also helping you a bit more in some matchup thanks to the support they can provide with Heal Bell and Magic Bounce and reliable recovery in Roost. My personal suggestion would go to Xatu as with access to Magic Bounce it lets you free up a slot for something over Sandslash to fix the other problem that your team has: Fire-types.
Xatu @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 248 HP / 180 Def / 80 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Heat Wave
- Roost
They can be very annoying for your team if you make this change (even if you don't to be honest) however are Fire-types. While Hariyama is definitely a good answer to Typhlosion it can really get worn down by repeated Eruptions or simply other special attackers you might want to switch it in against, especially if the opposing team also has a way of pressuring Audino (which is not rare), eventually having you to sack a mon every time Typhlosion comes in to force it out with Jynx. Ninetales is also a pain for your team as it pretty much destroys Hariyama with Psychock and cleanly sweeps you if you lose Jynx. The besto solution is probably to replace Sandslash with Camerupt. Camerupt is able to deal with the Fire-types in the tier (including Ninetales, a rare quality) quite well, especially with Audino's Wish support and, much like Sandslash, it is able to reliably set up Stealth Rock. It also gives you a stronger check to Electric-types such as Rotom than Sandslash who is easily worn down by Shadow Ball especially without Leftovers. It leaves you with a worse switch in to the likes of Rhydon but you already have weezing for that. You also still have a reliable way of keeping hazards stacking in check thanks to Xatu's Magic Bounce
Camerupt @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Lava Plume
- Roar
Finally i wanted to suggest you to run Psyshock over Psychic on Jynx as it lets it 2HKO the most common Ice resist in the tier in Hariyama making it very hard to switch in for balanced teams.

Good Luck with your team!
