ORAS OU Sharp Metal Team

Hey all,

I wanted to make a team built around Bisharp as I had actually never used one on a team since I began battling more competitively. This was the first draft of the team I came up with and it has faired well on the mid-ladder as of now. I was hoping some people would be able to spot some of the biggest flaws with this team and give me some suggestions as to how to improve! Obviously one big issue with this team so far is the lack of hazard control, although outside of Volcanion not many members of the team seem to affected by it.

Smack Em (Bisharp) @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 52 SpD / 204 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit

As I've said, this is the focal point of the team. I went with a general Black Glasses set so that I could use Bisharp to weaken as much of the opponent's team as I can to sweep through with some of my other Pokemon.

Keld'e'Huh? (Jellicent) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Taunt
- Scald
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover

I knew going into the team building that any Keldeo was the biggest threat to my Bisharp and needed a counter to any variety. Rather than just going with a bulky water type, I chose to go with a complete counter in a more unusual way. This Jellicent allows me to switch into Keldeo at any point, and fire off a will-o-wisp on anything trying to come in afterwards. I did toss Taunt on here as well, which is only slightly hindered by the slower speed tier that Jellicent hits in OU. However, it lets me shut down slower threats such as Ferrothorn and Clefable.

Hot Fire (Volcanion) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power
- Steam Eruption
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Bomb

Specs Volcanion was put here to sweep through teams once it's main threats have been weakened by Bisharp. It also allows me to switch in on a Keldeo locked into a water type attack, and hit another counter hard.

Dat Latiaaas (Latias) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Healing Wish
- Draco Meteor
- Roost
- Psyshock

I wanted a good ground immunity to help ease the pressure on Bisharp and Volcanion, and Latias allowed me that as well as a way to bring my strongest member back from the brink of death with the Healing Wish when needed.

Betagross (Metagross-Mega) @ Metagrossite
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Ice Punch
- Rock Polish

I wanted a strong mega that could help patch up a glaring fairy weakness, and MegaGross was an obvious fit. I chose to go with a Rock Polish set to allow me to set up and sweep once it's main counters were dealt with. Ice punch allows me to deal with threats such as Landorus and Gliscor who could otherwise run rampant.

Afrodog (Landorus-Therian) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Stone Edge

Another ground immunity and my stealth rocker. Stone Edge to deal with Talonflame, and Rocky Helmet to allow physical threats to weaken themselves for MegaGross and Volcanion.

There it is! What sets might do me more good? Different mons that might serve their purpose better? Let me know!

hi nice team, looks like a solid megagross offense with an underrated mon in jellicent, but i have some suggestions for you.

the first thing i would do is change metagross from rock polish to pursuit. rock polish metagross is really ineffective in the metagame right now, while pursuit provides well needed support to volcanion, this also frees pursuit off of bisharp, because pursuit bisharp is a very bad choice as it cannot threaten teams as well as sd variants do. so since i removed pursuit, use sd on bisharp instead. sd puts a ton of pressure of teams and allows bisharp to be one of the best wincons in the tier. i would consider making lando-t scarf over the bulky offensive set you currently have, scarf helps cover your teams speed problem, giving a better revenge killer against the likes of mega lopunny. i also don't think jellicent is needed on this team as you eventually put volcanion and latias on the build which covers keldeo really well, so jellicent is kinda unnecessary now. so with that, you can use heatran > jellicent. heatran brings a stallbreaker to the team and a reliable mega scizor answer which is needed considering how much it can pressure this build. it also frees up using scarf on lando since you need the extra speed. and finally my last change would be splash plate/leftovers with toxic > sludge wave on volcanion, this gives you a way to cripple common switchins like reflect type mega latias or gastrodon and still hitting very hard with no choice lock which can help play around fire/water resists etc.

*you can also use air balloon if you don't like the triple ground weakness and want to alleviate it a little, but i think the team should be fine.
