Sharpedo's Speed Boost, good coverage, and nice offensive stats and typing make it a threatening late-game cleaner that Choice Scarf users are often unable to revenge kill. Close Combat covers threats such as Zarude, Cobalion, and Registeel. Protect is needed to activate Speed Boost safely. It also foils attempts by Golisopod to KO Sharpedo with First Impression. Waterfall is preferred over Liquidation, because Liquidation does not achieve any notable KOs that Waterfall doesn't, and the flinch chance is largely more useful than Liquidation's chance to drop Defense given Sharpedo's need to avoid taking damage at all costs. A Life Orb is required to give Sharpedo maximum damage output while still allowing it to switch moves. An Adamant nature also helps Sharpedo hit as hard as possible, but it does mean that +1 Sharpedo is outrun by Choice Scarf Heracross and Choice Scarf Xurkitree, so these threats should be accounted for before committing to a Sharpedo sweep.

Sharpedo is best utilized with entry hazard stacking offense or hyper offense teams that can chip down the opposition as much as possible before Sharpedo attempts a sweep. Sharpedo's extreme frailty means that it should ideally OHKO everything it faces, lest it get OHKOed in return. Stealth Rock setters such as Metagross, Rhyperior, and Cobalion are good partners as a result. Spikes is also quite useful for accumulating even more chip damage, so setters such as Klefki, Roserade, and Golisopod work well with Sharpedo. Knock Off support can remove Heavy-Duty Boots from annoying Pokemon such as Zarude and Togekiss, letting them get chipped into Sharpedo KO range. Employing users of the move, such as Thundurus, Mienshao, and Incineroar can work wonders as a result. Completely removing users of strong priority that revenge kills Sharpedo, such as Zygarde-10%, is mandatory. Sharpedo can work on hyper offense teams to apply a ton of offensive pressure in conjunction with other powerful teammates. Options such as Necrozma, Mimikyu, Polteageist, and Toxtricity are all nice choices for hyper offense teams looking to keep the pressure on. Pivoting teammates such as Mienshao, Toxtricity, and Zarude can use their pivoting moves to get Sharpedo in safely, which is important given its extreme frailty.

Special Attack investment and powerful moves such as Hydro Pump enable mixed Sharpedo to get past a few notable threats with much greater ease than it would if running a fully physical set. Galarian Slowbro, Togekiss, Seismitoad, Chople Berry Cobalion, bulky Metagross, Steelix, Galarian Weezing, and Doublade are all examples of Pokemon that mixed Sharpedo matches up significantly better against. Dark Pulse is preferred to guarantee OHKOs onto the likes of Galarian Slowbro, Metagross, and Doublade. It also has a chance to put Golisopod into Emergency Exit range. Crunch can be used, however, as it hits Assault Vest Reuniclus harder. Close Combat is necessary to hit Zarude and Registeel hard, though both must be chipped down before they are outright KOed by the move. Protect allows Sharpedo to accrue Speed boosts, therefore making it easier for it to sweep, while also preventing Golisopod from revenge killing it with First Impression. Ice Beam can be used to OHKO Noivern and 2HKO Togekiss without having to rely on the inaccurate Hydro Pump, but it is hard to fit on the moveset. Maximum Special Attack EVs are preferred for the best KO odds on Galarian Weezing, Togekiss, and Doublade.

Sharpedo can be employed on entry hazard stacking offense and hyper offense teams that are in need of a late-game option. Sharpedo needs to have the opposition chipped down before it attempts to sweep, so Stealth Rock and Spikes setters are fantastic teammates. Stealth Rock can be set by partners such as Metagross, Cobalion, and Seismitoad, while Spikes from the likes of Klefki and Roserade is important. Mixed Sharpedo doesn't match up quite as well against a few common threats, most notably Zarude but also Registeel and Umbreon. Employing methods of chipping these threats down specifically is recommended. Knock Off from the likes of Thundurus, Seismitoad, and Heracross is crippling, especially to the former two, and hazards can help wear these threats down, therefore giving Sharpedo an easier time busting past them. Pivoting Fighting-types, most notably Mienshao, can force these threats to switch around constantly, therefore also keeping up the pressure and wearing them down into Sharpedo KO range. Knock Off is also generally nice to have on your side, as it makes wearing down threats such as Togekiss and Noivern much easier.

Sharpedo's access to Speed Boost, good coverage, and nice offensive stats and typing make it a threatening late-game cleaner in the RU metagame. Sharpedo's decent speed tier and ability to use Protect to accrue Speed Boosts makes revenge killing it via Choice Scarf users very difficult and often not a viable option. (add in how it helps vs first impression from goli). Close Combat gives Sharpedo good coverage onto against threats such as Zarude, Cobalion, and Registeel. Protect is needed to give Sharpedo a way to get at least one Speed Boost safely should it need to. (v weird seeing protect talked about in 2 different sections, try to merge the explanations together). Liquidation could be used over Waterfall for a slight Damage boost, but the flinch chance is largely more useful given Sharpedo's need to avoid taking damage at all costs. A Life Orb is required to give Sharpedo maximum damage output while still allowing it to switch moves. An Adamant Nature also helps Sharpedo hit as hard as possible, as the extra speed a Jolly nature provides is usually not that notable if Sharpedo can safely accrue two Speed Boosts, which is not very difficult to achieve with proper play. (in most scenarios, the difference in nature wont come into play and ud be able to get 2 speed boosts, either (a) u kill a slower threat and tect the next turn, or (b) u tect on smth not scarfed thats normally faster and outspeed the next turn to kill, or (c) they double into smth scarfed that is faster, ur tect fails and u tect again. u wldnt send sharpedo in to tect if u know the opp wld still be faster after ur speed boost. instead id rather u rework it to mention the relevant threats u have to play careful against cuz ure not running jolly, namely scarf xurkitree and scarf hera cuz u dont outspeed those after 1 boost with ada but u wld with jolly)

Sharpedo is best utilized with hazard stacking bulky offense or hyper offense teams that can chip down the opposition as much as possible before Sharpedo attempts a sweep. (bulky offense sharpedo is cursed, probs mention it as hazard stacking balance teams ig). Sharpedo's extreme frailty means that it should ideally OHKO everything in front of it, lest it gets OHKOd in return and has its sweep cut short. It is advisable to not commit to a Sharpedo sweep once you are sure that every Pokemon on the opposing team has been worn down enough to let Sharpedo sweep cleanly. Entry hazard stacking is therefore useful. Stealth Rock setters such as Metagross, Rhyperior, and Cobalion are good partners as a result. Spikes are also quite useful for accumulating even more chip damage, so Spike setters such as Klefki, Roserade, and Golisopod work well with Sharpedo. Knock Off support can also be used to remove Heavy-Duty Boots from annoying Pokemon such as Zarude and Togekiss, therefore letting them get chipped into Sharpedo range. Employing users of the move, such as Thundurus, Mienshao, and Incineroar can work wonders as a result. Completely removing users of strong priority, such as Zygarde-10%, is mandatory, as Sharpedo will get revenge killed by them. Sharpedo can work on Hyper Offense teams to apply a ton of offensive pressure in conjunction with other high powered teammates. Options such as Necrozma, Mimikyu, Polteageist, and Toxtricity are all nice choices for Hyper Offense hyper offense teams looking to keep the pressure on.

Galarian Slowbro, Togekiss, Seismitoad, Chople Berry Cobalion, Bulky Metagross, Steelix, Galarian Weezing, and Doublade are all examples of Pokemon that Mixed Sharpedo matches up significantly better against. Dark Pulse is preferred to confirm OHKOs onto the likes of Galarian Slowbro, Metagross, and Doublade. (also mention how dark pulse has a chance to knock golis into emergency exit, which is nice in the rare case you ever have to bring in sharpedo mid game to revenge smth). Crunch can be used, however, as it hits Assault Vest variants of Galarian Slowbro and Reuniclus harder. Close Combat is necessary to hit Zarude and Registeel hard, however both must be chipped down before they are outright KOd by the move. Protect allows Sharpedo to accrue free Speed Boosts, therefore making it easier for it to sweep. (similar to above, talk about how it helps you block first impression from golis). Ice Beam can be used to OHKO Noivern and 2HKO Togekiss without having to rely on the inaccurate Hydro Pump, however it is hard to fit on the moveset. Maximum Special Attack EVs are preferred for the best rolls on Galarian Weezing, Togekiss, and Doublade. A Life Orb gives Sharpedo a needed power boost while also allowing it to switch moves.

Sharpedo can be employed on Bulky and Hyper Offense teams that are in need of a late-game option. (once again, sharpedo bulky offense is cursed, so probs mention hazard stacking balance, and then change Hyper Offense to hyper offense). Sharpedo needs to have the opposition chipped down before it attempts to sweep, so Stealth Rock and Spikes setters are all fantastic teammates. Stealth Rock can be set by partners such as Metagross, Cobalion, and Seismitoad, while Spikes from the likes of Klefki and Roserade is important. Sharpedo doesn't match up quite as well against a few common threats when running a Mixed Spread, most notably Zarude but also Registeel and Umbreon. Employing methods of chipping these threats down specifically is recommended. Knock Off from the likes of Thundurus, Seismitoad, and Reuniclus Heracross is crippling, especially to the former two, and hazards can help wear these threats down, therefore giving Sharpedo an easier time busting past them. (av reun + sharpedo? weird. more likely to be paired with smth like heracross). (if there's no notable OHKOes or 2HKOes Liquidation achieves, just say that instead and maybe mention the 20% flinch chance as a pinch bonus.) A Life Orb is required to give Sharpedo maximum damage output while still allowing it to switch moves. An Adamant Nature also helps Sharpedo hit as hard as possible, however it does mean that unboosted Sharpedo is outrun by Scarf Heracross and Scarf Xurkitree at +1, meaning these threats should be accounted for before committing to a Sharpedo sweep.
