Sheer Cold (OU RMT)

Hail seems to be the least popular weathers. For one good reason in my opinion. It does not give any boosts to anything besides the 100% Blizzard means that many people want a weather that will better improve their team, rather than a single move.

This is basically the reason I built this team, to try out Hail. And to be honest I know why it hasn't been too successful in BW OU.

EDIT: No longer a Hail team, but I kept the name ;)

Analysis

Forretress (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SDef
Relaxed Nature
- Toxic Spikes
- Spikes
- Gyro Ball
- Rapid Spin

Forretress replaces Weavile as my go to lead. His incredible Defenses let him take a plethora of hits from the likes of almost any physical sweeper. I decided on Forretress for the good Defenses and for Toxic Spikes and a Rapid Spinner. Forretress fills all of these roles and was hands down the best choice for this team. Both Spikes are for set-up, which I can usually get 2 layers of Toxic down, sometimes a few on regular spikes. Gyro Ball is for something that can actually hit the opponent. And the final move slot, one of the most important to me on the team, Rapid Spin. Lets me get rid of hazards and seeds which is very important to do in this day and age. His EVs are set up to take heaps of Physical punishment without losing on some Special Defenses too.

Chansey (F) @ Eviolite Trait: Natural Cure

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Heal Bell
- Softboiled
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave

CHAN-SEY!!! Eviolite Chansey replaces Pringles man and for good reason. Jelli was good at stopping physical stuff, but had more weaknesses than this. Chansey with Eviolite can absolutely stop anything that tries to attack it (except for that damned ConkleDURP). I needed a Heal Bell user due to the sheer amount of status that is inflicted to the Pokemon on my team. Any good Blissey/Chansey (as pointed out to me), needs a good healing move and I choose Softboiled. Softboiled allows me to get instant heals without Protect. Though the Wish utility is gone I still like this set. Seismic Toss lets me hit something and Thunder Wave helps, as suggested, to slow down enemies so my sweepers can kick in.

Horseshoe (Latios) (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Surf
- Trick

My Specs Latios. This thing is a monster against anything that isn't prepared for it. A Specs boosted Draco Meteor can easily KO common threats in the metagame. Hidden Power Fire is for the coverage and Surf is also for great coverage. I usually Trick more bulky or stall oriented pokemon, such as Blissey, Ferrothorn, or Skarmory. Not much else to say about this guy.

642.gif

Thundurus (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Taunt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Nasty Plot

Thundurus. The amazing Lightning Genie. This thing rips through stuff like you wouldn't imagine. He replaced Chancey (Chancey replaced Blissey) because I have a SDef wall in Jelli and a Defensive wall in Forrty. Thunderbolt is for the STAB. Taunt for any walls that I come across. HP Ice for the coverage against Dragons. And U-Turn so I can make a quick escape. Timid is for max Speed for U-Turn mostly.

485.gif

Heatran (M) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 Spd
Hardy Nature
- Earth Power
- Flamethrower
- Toxic
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

Good ole' Heatran. This thing is a beast with its balloon and can dish out some hard hits. Earth Power for a good Ground move, Flamethrower for a RELIABLE STAB. Fire Blast would just be to much of a risk to me. Toxic for another status inducer and I can usually get one off safely on the switch. Hidden Power Fighting for coverage.

286.gif

Breloom (M) @ Toxic Orb Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Seed Bomb
- Spore

Lol. This thing annoys people most of the time with SubPunch combo. If I am faster than them (which is usually the case) I'll Spore so they'll probably switch out for my free sub. After I Sub I can either hit with a hard hard Focus Punch or a Seed Bomb for things like Swampert and Vaporeon. Jolly Nature is to maximize Speed.

listen, it sounds like this isnt a weather team at all, rather a team with a useless link to bring the hail to stop other weather teams. That sounds like an aweful idea, personally i would switch abamosnow to a much better pokemon capable of learning hail, preferably one with bulk (i've used jellicent here), and then you can use hail after the opposing weather inducer is killed and then after 5 turns youre battling in clear skies

It is pretty solid for a Hail team. I would recommend Chansey as it can take physical hits a lot better, but it cannot use Lefties. It's your choice, to be honest.

i just realized that your blissey lacks a recovery move. With both softboiled and wish, there is absolutly no way to justify Blissey lacking recovery, that is what she does.

raiders is right, Blissey NEEDS a recovery move. This can be Wish+Protect, or Softboiled. Also, the 4 Atk EVs (even though they mean little), shouldn't be in Atk. Seismic Toss does damage equal to your level (in this case, 100 every time).

He's also right in saying that the only way to call this a Hail team is because Abomasnow is on there. If you hate it so much, scrap it for something else.

You should switch Night Slash for Ice Punch on Wevile, since Ice shard can't K.O Gliscor/Donphan/Flygon/Salamence.

the only reason to actually use hail is to use stall. up in the higher ranked areas where i play, peeps dont use hail just cos. y post an rmt if u know it's not good anyway? whats the point?
also, if ur countering weather (u sure about this?) try a cool set on abomasnow i created:

460.gif

Lipid (Abomasnow) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 Speed / 200 Attack / 56 Special Attack
Nature: Naive
- Blizzard
- Wood Hammer
- Rock Slide
- Substitute

good offencive lead, and ohkos every weather inducing pokemon, and also scouts with sub. still, try a hail stall team, or ur better off with sandstorm

I dropped the Hail.

I tried out Chansey, and I liked it a lot. However I slowly switched over to Jelli and Forrty as my walls.

Removed Blissey/Chancey completely.

Dropped Blissey/Chancey. Oh and I did for Jelli.

Removed Weavile.

Although I like that set I dropped Abomasnow. Thanks anyways. :D

Did a complete overhaul on the team! Go check it out!

Probably a mis-typing or overlook, but give Forry Relaxed or Sassy nature for the extra defense boost, and 0 Spe IVs for max damage Gyro Ball.

If using U-turn on Thundurus, I would give it a Naive nature so that U-turn can actually hit decently off 115 base attack. You woulnt be keeping Thundy to take hits, so the SDef drop is non consequential. Or, you can use a Nasty Plot set and tear through even more stuff. Just drop UTurn for NP in that case.

hey again, glad to see you made some much needed changes to your team, it looks very good now. Just a thought, i would replace u-turn on thundurus with thunder wave for several reasons.
1. It gets priority through prankster
2. although still good, his attack stat isnt great compared to his SP attack stat, and considering u-turn isnt STAB it wont be hitting too hard
3. this is the most important, none of your team members really have blistering speed (thundurus's is fine), breloom and heatran, and to an extent latios, really love to have opponents paralyzed. This helps heatran attack twice against a ground pokemon before it can KO with earthqueake (turn 1 to break balloon), and breloom hates nothing more than to be hit before it can spore. Even latios appreciates the easy speed advantage, helping it hit other dragons (except the banned garchomp) before they can hit him.

Yeah it was an overlook. Sorry about that. Dropped UTurn for NP :P

I decided to just put Twave on my Chansey.

Edited in the Importable list for easy import to Pokemon Online. Also replaced Jellicent with Chansey.
