[OVERVIEW]
A high Attack stat and the combination of Sheer Force, Life Orb, and STAB Liquidation make Kingler one of the most powerful wallbreakers in PU without needing a boost. This makes it an ideal user of Agility, allowing Kingler to function as a wallbreaker or cleaner depending on what the matchup requires. Its high Defense is a bonus, as it can be difficult for physical attackers such as Archeops and Choice Scarf Passimian to effectively revenge kill Kingler after it obtains a KO or prevent it from setting up. However, Kingler's Special Defense is extremely low and it hits at an awkward Speed tier, meaning that, if it cannot set up with Agility, it is easily revenge killed by special attackers such as Mesprit and Rotom. As PU has many common Water immunities, including Heliolisk, Toxicroak, and Vaporeon, this can force Kingler into frequent guessing games on whether to use Liquidation or its much weaker coverage options. Furthermore, Kingler struggles to fit all the coverage it needs to hit Water-resistant and -immune Pokemon, forcing it into awkward tradeoffs in the teambuilder. Finally, Kingler faces competition from Basculin, which has higher Speed and access to Flip Turn and Aqua Jet,(AC) and Omastar, which has more resistances and the ability to boost both offensive stats and Speed with Shell Smash.

name: Agility
move 1: Agility
move 2: Liquidation
move 3: Body Slam / Superpower / High Horsepower
move 4: Knock Off / Swords Dance
item: Life Orb
ability: Sheer Force
nature: Adamant / Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
After an Agility, Kingler is able to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame and most Choice Scarf users, outspeeding Choice Scarf Togedemaru after a boost even if Kingler's running an Adamant nature. Jolly nature can be run to outspeed Pokemon such as Jolly Tsareena and Modest Vanilluxe before an Agility and the rare Choice Scarf Heliolisk after an Agility, but in general Adamant is preferred for the higher damage output. Body Slam provides solid neutral coverage that covers nearly every Water-immune and -resistant Pokemon in PU,(AC) which makes it Kingler's safest all-around option, albeit weaker and less specialized than other coverage moves. Superpower covers Guzzlord and Arctovish while being Kingler's strongest way to hit a few other Pokemon like Vaporeon and Virizion. High Horsepower covers Toxicroak and Lanturn better and doesn't decrease Kingler's Attack, but it isn't useful for covering Grass-types. Knock Off is Kingler's best way to hit Jellicent while also being able to cripple item-reliant counters such as Tangela. Swords Dance allows Kingler to break through the few walls that can tank its unboosted hits, such as Vaporeon, but it forces Kingler to give up a coverage slot. Since bulky Water-types like Vaporeon and Jellicent are something Kingler struggles greatly against, Pokemon that can handle these such as Heliolisk and Virizion make for good teammates. Heliolisk also has the benefit of luring Pokemon such as Gigalith and Claydol in, which Kingler can use as a chance to set up. Spikes and Toxic Spikes from partners such as Alolan Sandslash and Garbodor can help soften up counters like Vaporeon and Druddigon.
