Shell Smash Dragonite team

Before introducing the team, i will explain a thing about me: i'm a noob. i started only a few weeks ago with competitive pokemon battling on pokemon showdown. And i perfectly know i'm a noob (but you will also understand this when you will see the team). I had this idea, this is strategy that i love, but it's difficult to make it work. i hope you will help me. Now the Explanaition

the core

Dragonite @ Shell Bell
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Modest Nature
- Surf
- Thunder
- Hurricane
- Roost

Yeah, he's the man. I started this team around dragonite. He's the sweeper. Of course he's a rain sweeper. I give him only spatk, because... well he has no physical attack. Hurricane is a must. Thunder kill the nasty power type. Surf for a water move. Acqua Tail exists, but why giving him only a physical attack when there's surf? Last one is roost, the return 100% health and activate Multiscale again. Multiscale is awesome: dragonite will almost never be 1HKO. And this is the reason why i picked shell bell over leftrovers. Shell bell is less reliable but faster. imagine this situation: Dragonite enters and take an ice beam. dragonite survive with 70% health. Dragonite kill a pokemon, then another and recover al his health. I think this dragonite is almost perfect, the problem is with the support. Because i'm ambitious and i don't only want a rain sweeper, but i want o baton pass a shell smash bonus to him ;)

The Support

Politoed @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
Shiny: YesEVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 Spd
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Protect
- Toxic
- Ice Beam

The rain man. He enters, then rain. i let him wall someone, use some toxic and protect, then die. Good fire counter. I'm happy with this frog

Huntail @ White Herb
Trait: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 HP / 230 Spd / 26 SDef
Careful Nature
- Baton Pass
- Shell Smash
- Sucker Punch
- Waterfall

And now come the problems. First of all, yeah, i know Drizzle+Swift Swim is banned in OU. That's why i need help. After the rain i send huntail, shell smash+baton pass and... POW! Unstoppable dragonite! I tried this team without drizzle but with raind dance. It sucked. Rain dance is too short: i need drizzle. And... without swift swim huntail sucks. he has pathetic speed and will always be 2HKO. do you think I should give the evs to def and spdef? Or huntail is too bad and cannot be saved?

The Other pokemons...

erhm... now you will understand that i'm a real noob. I chose this pokemon almost random.

Conkeldurr @ Shell Bell
Trait: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Payback

Conkeldurr subpuncher. He is strong. Is he the pokemon my team's need? I don't know. He is strong. He fear only psychic pokemon, and (almost) not even them if he can use payback protected by a substitute. I preferred shell bell over leftrovers because i think leftrovers are too slow. I'm pretty happy with conkeldurr.

Metagross @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Atk / 160 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Zen Headbutt
- Meteor Mash
- Stealth Rock

Usually the lead. He puts the rocks. Also very good against psychic pokemons. I find him a little lackluster regarding offensive power. Again, i chose this pokemon without a clear purpose in my mind

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Night Slash
- Thunder Fang

Again another almost random pokemon. Night slash is for psychic types, thunder fang for waters/flying, earthquake is a stab and toxic for stalls. Evs are really bad, but i don't want too make him too defensive.

So... please help me :D i know there's a lot of work to do. i hope my rain+smashpass+dragonite strategy can be saved, because i really like it.

This team is good; solid and on the point. Though, there are a few things that should be fixed.

-Replace Shell Bell with Leftovers. As you said, it's less reliable, and you don't want to take the risk. Leftovers is very reliable, heals you every turn, regardless of being attacked, and can help heal off damage Dragonite has already taken.

-Replace Huntail with Cloyster. Cloyster overall outclasses Huntail in every aspect, besides Sucker Punch. Cloyster. has more power, and overall better stats. It has access to Skill Link to break Focus Sashes, amazing defenses to wall (Def, not Sp.Def) and a grea offensive typing. Be wary of Stealth Rock. Here is the recommended set:

Cloyster @ White Herb
Trait: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SAtk
Naughty Nature
- Shell Smash
- Icicle Spear
- Rock Blast
- Hydro Pump / Razor Shell

You may use Razor Shell over Hydro Pump if you fancy the Defense Drop, but Hydro Pump's power may win you over. This Pokemon completely outclasses Huntail; it's NU for a reason, just as Cloyster is OU.

-The Conkeldurr set needs some fixing around as well. Replace Shell Bell with Leftovers. (Same reasons as listed for Dragonite). Also, with Iron Fist, you should have a Bulk Up Set. 624 Atk stat and 339 Defense from Bulk Up is definitely something you should consider. Here is the set I recommend:

534.gif

Conkeldurr @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 120 HP / 136 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch / Payback
- Mach Punch

The Sp.Def investment gives Conkeldurr resistance to Sp.Atk moves, since Bulk Up only raises its Defense, and Conkeldurr isn't very hot in it's Sp.Def category. Ice Punch if you want to handle Dragons easier, such as Salamence or Garchomp, while Payback handles those pesky Psychics, like Alakazam. Though, Conkeldurr often gets KO'd easily by Psychic attacks, hence why Ice Beam is a better choice.

-Finally, Replace Thunder Fang with Ice Fang on Gliscor. Dragon types will be more of a threat to your team, and Gliscor benefits more from Ice Fang; Gliscor shouldn't even be out against a Water type anyways, it usually never lives through it.

Make sure you add descriptions, and Speed is represented as "Spe" not "Spd".
The order of your EV's are in the wrong order as well, it should be
-HP
-Attack
-Defense
-Sp. Attack
-Sp. Defense
-Speed

Good luck, and welcome to Smogon! :)

His team is supposed to be base on SmashPass, and by removing his SmashPasser, you basically changed his whole theme. It's better to keep the strategy intact rather than changing it. And OP, you cannot in any way, shape or form use Drizzle with Swift Swim, as they are banned. Also, Gorebyss outclasses Huntail as a Baton Passer, so change that as well.

Oh. I didn't see the Smash-Passing. My apologies. ^^;

I'm locking this thread. You're using Drizzle+Swift Swim which is a banned combination in OU. Furthermore, most of your descriptions are shorter than three lines, breaking the RMT rule 3. PM me an updated version of the thread that respects the rules and Smogon's OU Banlist and I'll unlock this thread.
