Shellder @ Eviolite
Ability: Skill Link
Level: 5
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 36 HP / 236 Atk / 36 Def / 196 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Icicle Spear
- Rock Blast
- Ice Shard
Shellder is a terrifying presence in the Little Cup metagame thanks to Skill Link turning Icicle Spear and Rock Blast into guaranteed multi-hit attacks, while Ice Shard gives it priority to beat Sucker Punch from Alolan Diglett and Stunky in addition to sets like Endure Vullaby. Its strong physical bulk lets it set up more often than all other sweepers in the tier. With an Adamant nature and Shell Smash, Shellder becomes absurdly strong while still outspeeding every relevant Choice Scarf user at +2 Speed. Tera Ghost allows Shellder to freely set up on Fake Out and High Jump Kick from Mienfoo, along with resisting Sludge Bomb from Mareanie. However, Shellder’s poor special bulk means it must be positioned carefully to find safe setup opportunities. Shellder slots easily onto most teams and loves support from Mienfoo and Vullaby to remove Eviolite from bulky checks such as opposing Mienfoo and Mareanie while also pivoting it in safely with U-turn. Stealth Rock and Spikes from Mudbray, Glimmet, and Toedscool help wear down its checks, letting Shellder break through bulky foes once it gets going.
