Pretty basic team idea here. I wanted to build a team around Volcarona and Mega Gallade, as I find they compliment each other fairly well. Also, naming them after the Shinto Gods totally suits them. Well, here it is. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Amaterasu (Volcarona) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Fiery Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Giga Drain
Ok so this set is meant to set-up and sweep. Max Speed and Special Attack helps Volcarona do it's job as a special sweeper very well, especially after a QD or two. Fiery Dance is Volcarona's main STAB move, and chosen over the other possible Fire moves 1). It's awesome, and 2). Because of the added chance to raise Volcarona's attack even higher.
Bug Buzz is the second move of choice, of course is Bug Buzz. Able to hit many types for Super Effective damage, and acting as an alternative to Fiery Dance. The final choice of move is Giga Drain. Not every Volcarona runs this, some run Roost instead, but Giga Drain rounds out Volcarona's coverage nicely, and can help recover lost HP, as well as hit threats like Azumarill who switch in and try to end a sweep (or predict a set-up).
Susano'o (Gallade-Mega) @ Galladite
Ability: Inner Focus
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Drain Punch
- Psycho Cut
- Ice Punch
The second main member of the team, Mega Gallade is a powerful sweeper that pairs well with Volcarona as it can get rid of Rock-types that completely wall Volcarona. A second Set-up sweeper, this time a Physical one, with Swords Dance the set-up move of choice. This increases Gallade's already massive attack to insane levels, and with a good STAB combination, really makes Gallade pack a punch.
I run Drain Punch over Close Combat because Gallade doesn't really appreciate the drop in defenses, and the ability to deal massive damage AND get HP back is great. I run over Psycho Cut over Zen Headbutt because, despite being slightly weaker, it is more accurate, and Zen Heabutt has a bad habit of missing when you need it to hit the most. Finally, Ice Punch is the coverage move of choice, hitting Pokemon like Gliscor, and Landorus.
AntiTalonflame (Rotom-Wash) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hydro Pump
Finishing up the core of this team is a Pokemon that counters a type that both of my sweepers share, that being Flying types. Rotom-W is a great defensive wall to use in this case, able to check what is probably the most threatening Flying type in the game right now, Talonflame, resisting both of it's STAB move. Now, this is a standered leftovers set, with Will-O crippling any non Fire Physical Attacker.
Rotom's low speed allows it to be a nice pivot with Volt Switch, allowing it to get out of situations, and allowing me some switch initiative. Thunderbolt is the main electric STAB though, threatening a lot of Water types that give Volcarona a hard time, while lastly Hydro Pump is there for everything else, including Rock types, which once again really threaten Volcarona.
Togekiss (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Air Slash
- Roost
- Defog
- Heal Bell
Now this is NOT FlinchKiss (Thank Arceus). This is a specially defensive cleric/Defogger set, something I don't think is not seen too often. With max investment in HP and Special Defense, Togekiss is not easy to take down. Combine that with Roost to heal back up HP and Heal Bell to heal any status Togekiss, or any of it's comrades are suffering from, and this will be a Pokemon that will cause you trouble. Lastly, just for some damage input, Air Slash was the STAB of choice, hitting a decent amount of Pokemon, and a nice chance to flinch thanks to Serene Grace.
WishMaker (Jirachi) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Iron Head
- Fire Punch
- Body Slam
Jirachi is a very nice Scarfer, with access to a nice variety of moves. U-Turn allows it to act as a scout and pivot, pairing nicely with Rotom and it's Volt Switch. Iron Head is the main STAB of choice, taking down Fairy types with ease, and threaten other types that can threaten the team. Fire Punch provides nice coverage against a variety of types and threats, including Mega Metagross, which is walled my Jirachi unless it is running EQ. Finally, Body Slam is the last move of choice. While it doesn't hit anything for SE damage, the chance to Paralyze is nice, which can help slow down threats for Volcarona and Gallade.
Memories (Weavile) (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ice Shard
- Knock Off
- Low Kick
- Icicle Crash
Fun Fact: Sneasel and Weavile will always hold a special place in my heart because Sneasel was the first Shiny I ever caught, back in gen 4 ^^
Alright, now on to the set. Weavile is powerful, but incredibly frail, and needs to live at least one hit to be really useful. For this, I have equipped it with a Focus Sash. Max Speed and Attack make Weavile very threatening, and it's moveset takes full advantage of that.
Ice Shard provides nice priority, and can take out Pokemon like Garchomp and Lando (Before an Intimidate), while also being able to pick off weakened threats. Knock Off is the Dark STAB of choice, and is insanely good this Gen, able to get Scarfs off of Pokemon, or other threatening items.
Low Kick provides a nice way to deal with Pokemon like Bisharp and Heatran, while Icicle Crash is the main damage dealing Ice STAB of choice.
