Should I keep this Gyarados?

I was looking for a good Gyarados yesterday, and with my Adamant Synchronizer I eventually came across this:

Nature: Adamant
HP: 24/25 (certainly acceptable imo)
Attack: 26/27 (not perfection, but very good)
Defense: 2/3 (terrible)
Speed: 14/15 (can only top 244 at best I think)
Sp Atk: Why does it matter?
Sp Def: 22/23 (good)
Caught at, if you care: Sendoff Spring (near the Turnback Cave)

As you can see, the only DV that is horrible is its Defense. It can only hit 244 Speed at highest, which is enough to outrun Jolly Garchomp but not enough for +Speed 120ers/Weavile. I would have aimed for a higher Speed DV, but I thought this one had a really good Attack DV, it was late on a Friday night and I just wanted to get it done.

I already taught it Waterfall, so even with the somewhat mediocre Speed and the terrible Defense...good enough to merit usage?

It honestly depends on how fussy you were. If it were me and I were planning on using it for a competitive team, then I would breed for 31 IV in attack/speed and maybe HP, but I'm like that :s

Also, I wouldn't worry about outspeeding Weavile. It really can't harm a fairly bulky Gyarados much.

No breed for one. Its gyarados .-. Thats like the easiest thing and most fun thing to breed because it hatches so fast

I don't want to have like five Level 1 Magikarps and then go through trouble leveling them up just to have to check their DVs because at Level 1 it's technically impossible to check a Magikarp's DVs (or any Pokemon's, for that matter).

And totally random, but if Gyarados wasn't the evolution of Magikarp i'm sure it'd take 10,240+ steps to hatch.

um it takes 1,280 and minus half or 1/3(dont remember which) if you have a slugma ect.

Use the wifi battles to check for is or just get 19 rare candies somehow(emerald if you have that) and just save level up one, write down ivs on notepad reset level up next one ect

storm-I know Magikarp eggs take 1280 steps to hatch, but I just wanted to say that.

Or I could just put them in the Daycare and wait until they reach Level 19 or get close to it, instead of wasting a bunch of Rare Candies. That's what I did with my Garchomp when it was a Gible. Still, for a bunch of Magikarp I think that's a lot of work.

Yeah if you want to waste soo much time and lose alot of money in the process.

I would seriously recommend doing one of the above but meh you do what you want

i think you should keep it. it will wreak in-game havoc so leveling up is not a problem.

P.S. I just caught a perfect IV Golbat in FireRed (should I say wtf that was lucky, O_o, or XD?)

Nice, but pretty bad speed.

I would personally keep it since as long as I have the right nature, and it's IV's aren't next to nothing in whatever stats I want, I'm happy. :P

Don't sell yourself short on such an easy thing to breed. That 3 in the Def IV will set you back 28 points, something that could really affect the outcome of the battle. I bred this one after only a few days of trying:

Magikarp, Adamant:
HP: 30
Att: 31
Def: 31
Sp Att: 19
Sp Def: 31
Spd: 31

I tried for a long time on emerald and got one not half as good as that >_>
But i don't remember his IVs...

I'd just breed one. Its not that bad and they're pretty easy to breed.

I really wish people would stop responding to threads that obviously break the rules and belong in one of our obvious places like "Look at what I bred" or "Ask a simple question, get a simple answer".

In the future, place questions like this in one of those two places.
