Hello Ubers UU Community!
The metagame has shifted significantly since we first began in November and before that, and the pokemon at the forefront of the metagame have shifted as well. Palkia-Origin is no longer the omnipresent, undisputed wallbreaker of the tier, and has fallen to 22nd in usage and B rank in viability. However, the branding of Ubers UU and its purple/red color scheme has become iconic. Is it time to change? You decide!

In this thread, you can nominate pokemon you'd like to be considered for a runoff vote to be mascot, after which we'll switch our branding! This is also a chance to discuss which pokemon you think are most iconic to the scene, or best represent the "Too good for OU, too bad for ubers" spirit of the tier. You may discuss in this thread or nominate individual pokemon, and reactions to each post will act as the first round. Get enough votes relative to the field, and you'll be in the runoff.

I will link on this top thread to the first comment that nominates any individual pokemon, so you know where to vote. The nomination round will continue until Sunday, August 11, at 11:59pm EDT

Nominating Palkia-Origin

Palkia-Origin has been the mascot of Ubers UU since October 12th, 2023 and has held the position with pride. It sees minimal use in Ubers, is obviously too powerful for OU, and to me is one of the common Ubers that suffer from "I am a weak legendary form that is gimped by holding an item". It is still a powerful threat, and has a legacy as the Ruler of this UUbers Space. We already have great artwork featuring the pokemon, which is a minor detail but an important one nonetheless. The color scheme is sick.

Nominating Zacian

Zacian has been the top dog of the metagame ever since its inception, and has shared a top 3 spot right next to magearna and the UUBL pokemon of the week. It is the face of speed control, breaking, and its fairy typing goes great into the many dragons of the tier. Once again, it's another outclassed legendary, being the weaker form of an Ubers threat. It is very much the canonical idea of "Ubers but weaker" that makes the tier so fun. Unlike previous months, I'm no longer worried about zacian being banworthy, which increases its case as a mascot with staying power. I also think a blue/red or blue/pink color scheme could be sick.
 
Nominating Deoxys (Base)
Deoxys has the legacy of being underpowered in ubers ever since its inception; It's older brother Deo-A has always made 150 offensive stats look pathetic. You show someone Deoxys and they'll immediately understand what the tier is all about, and to me is almost iconic as lugia (which could be nominated if y'all want) in terms of how weak it is. Deoxys is also at a good power level, being clearly useful and powerful, but not overly-centralizing or overused like magearna, zacian, or some of the stronger arceus forms.
 
Just a few thoughts of other pokes if anyone wants to nominate them: Chi-yu, Landorus-Incarnate, Lugia or Terapagos might also be nice choices.
 
Nominating Terapagos

Unlike some of the other options here, Terapagos is all about Generation 9, being the mascot legendary for the final phase of Pokemon SV, and fully utilizing the main generational mechanic. It's also an extremely threatening mon in SV Ubers UU, offering both utility in Rapid Spin, tanking hits with Tera Shield, and of course a dangerous calm mind sweeper once it gets going with Tera Starstorm. It also is banned in OU and has little relevance in Ubers. I think it is the perfect choice.
 
Nominating Landorus-I, it’s something that I think fits very well within Ubers UU and despite not being an undisputed #1 mon, i think it represents it as a concept. It’s a mon that got entirely overshadowed in Ubers by its counterpart and is given a time to shine in Ubers UU (or was bc lando-T is here now but I still think it fits)
 
Nominating Magearna

Vote for this or youre wrong. Nobody is out here like oh man I gotta play uubers, the deoxys tier, they think of fucking magearna. Like Finchely already made a server icon because everyone in staff chat was like "dude why the fuck isnt it magearna" and shes artistic like that. Do I really have to explain to you what it does in the metagame? No. You already know. 70% ladder usage, probably higher in tours, I should've checked before I wrote this, but I committed. It clicks spikes, gangstalks chien-pao, and volt switches.

Just to clarify, the "react to vote" will be based on reactions to Portobello's post, just since it happened first.
 
Nominating Magearna

I know its been said like 4 times and no one gives a darn about my opinion but here it is anyways. Mag is and always has been a fact of the tier. Every serious team has a mag, and the only reason several mons are unbanned in this tier is because mag is around to handle them. My only potential objection is that mag is closer to OUBL than Ubers but thats not a real argument.
 
Nominating :palafin-hero:

Palafin has been consistently good in the tier since like Day 1, and in my opinion is a valid showcase of Ubers UU. It's a mon that was released this gen that was too strong for OU, but since around the time home dropped, has sat in the D tier of the Ubers VR since then. But in Ubers UU, it found new life in being a robust priority user thanks to Banded Jet Punches and can use its strong flip turns to bail out of threatening situations. On a side tangent that still supports my nomination, Palafin is essentially the Pokémon equivalent of a shonen protagonist, and is used in a lot of marketing in Paldea.
 
Nominating Arceus Dark
This mon has been really good in the tier since its creation. It is an arceus form that hasnt seen much use up in regular ubers but would obviously be broken if released into ou. It is a mon that Is so prolific in the tier that an entire set of is so previlent that everyone who plays the tier knows what set is being refered to when "The Set" is stated.
 
I nominate Arceus-Poison, it's a really solid pokemon in ubers uu that can be ran as a sweeper or be used for utility
 
Alr here are some of my thoughts on the stuff I didn't vote for:
Mag->Doesn't need my help, will probably end up winning,in no small part to finchley's fire artwork
Palafin->I'm too worried about people trying to drop it to OU
Arceus Poison/Dark->IDK i feel like sometimes the public gets sick of arceus running all over ubers uu
Giratina->Big Stall Energy, sorry not sorry

Also I'm going to sleep but will update top post in the morning; reminder that only the first nomination of any 'mon matters for voting

And still incredibly controversial! Also is the major culprit of many people's complaints around tera's impact on the tier rn so while it's good (and round (very important for a logo) ) out of all the top tiers it's the most likely to have problems going forward
