[SET COMMENTS]

Silvally-Poison cements a niche in the ZU metagame as a decent mixed set up sweeper or breaker with Work Up, with a a solid movepool to back it up. Multi Attack is Silvally-Poison’s strongest STAB option, letting it hit Grass and Fairy-type Pokemon such as Appletun, Alcremie and Clefairy. Flamethrower gives Silvally-Poison a way to hit Pokemon that can take its physical hits, mainly Tangela. Flame Charge is a viable alternative, however, since it allows Silvally-Poison to boost its Speed and become more threatening. Surf grants additional coverage to Silvally-Poison, letting it hit physically defensive Pokemon such as Rhydon and Coalossal effectively. Grass Pledge is an effective alternative, being able to hit bulky waters such as Wishiwashi, Pyukumuku and Qwilfish more effectively, albeit losing out on nailing Coalossal as hard.

Pokemon that like seeing Tangela gone, such as Sawk and Kangaskhan, make for good team mates, as they can supply coverage for Pokemon that can handle Silvally-Poison, such as Uxie and Persian-Alola. Silvally-Poison generally likes having hazard support on its side, meaning Pokemon such as Piloswine can work as offensive Spikers. Silvally-Poison also likes having hazards removed, meaning Pokemon such as Articuno make for good partners.

Other Options
=============

Silvally-Poison is able to pull off a more defensively oriented Defog set, with access to Parting Shot and U-Turn to operate as a defensive pivot as well, due to it being able to absorb Toxic Spikes. Because of this, it may offer good role compression against some threats. However, this set faces great competition from more reliable Poison-type defensive Pokemon such as Garbodor, which provides the same utility with the added benefit of recovery. Silvally-Poison can also run a Swords Dance set, making it even more powerful physically, as at +2, even extremely physically bulky Pokemon such as Tangela dislike taking its coverage. However, this set has a worse match up against Pokemon such as Garbodor and Coalossal, making it generally less efficient than the mixed Work Up set.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Psychic-types**: Silvally-Poison’s typing grants it a weakness to Psychic, meaning that Psychic-types generally do well against it. Uxie soaks up most of Silvally’s hits even after a Work Up, and can take it out after two Psychics. Rapidash-Galar outspeeds Silvally-Poison and can use High Horsepower to take it out after some chip. However, it has to be careful switching in, as it is fainted by a +1 Multi Attack.

**Bulky Water-types**: If Silvally-Poison forgoes Grass Pledge, it is left susceptible to bulky Water-types walling it. Qwilfish takes little from Silvally-Poison’s hits, and in return, can either attempt a burn with Scald, or set up Spikes on it. Pyukumuku can recover most damage done to it by Silvally-Poison and stall it out.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Coalossal is capable of walling Silvally-Poison if it forgos Surf for Grass Pledge. Cofagrigus can handle all of Silvally-Poison’s hits at +1, and can chip it down with Pain Split and Shadow Ball.
