Team at a glance:
I wanted to be unique, and I wanted a rain dance team, So i did both.
Team building process:
I wanted to be very unique, so I decided on a very special lead, Sizor. Scizor has great defenses so I maxed them out and gave him a Damp rock. He can usually set up the rain and take a hit.
I needed another dancer, And i know how deadly kingdra is in the rain, so I chose him. Kingdra can set up the rain if scizor fails and proceed to sweep
I wanted to play it safe and have 3 dancers and Rotom came to mind, he can abuse thunder's 100% rain accuracy, and set up rain himself.
So now I have my 3 dancers, now it's time for some pure power, and one thing comes to mind, scarfdos. He has amazing special attack and is descently bulky, and is pretty fast with a scarf.
I wanted another dragon that can dish out some serious power, so I found salamence perfect for the job[dragonite if mence gets banned]
I have been wanting an agiligross on a team, so I used him, he has good synergy with the team, and is a beast.
Scizor was getting taunted too much so I chose a faster lead that can set up the rain and rocks as well as abuse thunder.
Metagross wasnt getting the job done because he couldnt utilize the rain, so I decided on a kabutops. I originally ran life orb/swords dance, but i found a choice band set to be more effective
Azelf was a little too frail so I decided on jirachi, he is bulkier, still fastish and can still abuse thunder.
Team details
Jirachi @ Damp Rock
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP/176 Spd/80 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Rain Dance
- Thunder
- U-turn
- Wish
I'm using jirachi as a lead because I can basically set rain up for free. Jirachi is commonly a trickscarf lead so i can expect my opponent to switch and let me set up rain for free, get a wish up, and uturn out to a sweeper. Thunder for spam and parahax.
How Jirachi does against top ten leads
Kingdra (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk/16 Spd/240 SAtk
Naughty nature (+Atk, -SDef)
- Ice Beam
- Draco Meteor
- Waterfall
- Rain Dance
Standard mixed rain dance set. He is very deadly rain sweeper, and if the rain goes away, he can set it up again. He has great synergy with my team having only one weakness, and i have 2 other pokes that resist that weakness. I added Ice beam because I needed a more reliable dragon killer and i rarely used hydro pump.
Rotom-w @ Damp Rock
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 110 HP/200 Spd/200 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunder
- Rain Dance
- Hydro Pump
- Shadow Ball
This is sort of a gimmicky sweeper set. Rain dance to set up if it isnt raining already, and then spam thunder/hydropump. Shadow ball is there for other rotoms. Rotom doesnt have great synergy with my team, and i'm thinking about replacing him.
Zapdos @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunder
- Air cutter
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Ominous Wind
Zapdos is here for one reason and one reason only, spamming thunder. Thunder is extremely deadly especially with rain boosting its accuracy and stab. Hp grass for ttar and swampert. Ominous wind for pesky ghosts and psychics such as gengar and azelf. I replaced heat wave with air cutter for stab and i needed another breloom killer. High crithax ratio isn't bad either. He has good synergy absorbing ground attacks, and I have plenty of rock/ice resisters.
Scizor (M) @ Damp Rock
Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 HP/252 Def/252 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Rain Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
Same EV spread as when he was a lead, But i tweaked the moveset. I took roost out and added swords dance because if I can set up I have another sweeper/tank. Bullet punch for the obvious stab, Uturn to escape, rain support. Pretty much has the same job as before, but Swords dance i find more effective that roost.
Kabutops (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 72 HP/252 Atk/186 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Return
Kabutops is a very deadly OU rain sweeper, With rain I dont have to settle for aqua jet. Stab rain boosted banded waterfall does a helluva lot to anything that doesnt resist it. Stone edge for stab and those pesky flying types, and return cause i have nothing better to put there, any suggestions?
