Hello. This is my OU team, for Shoddy and the cartridge game. The team utilizes a combination not unlike SkarmBliss, except 100% worse: Empoleon and Gliscor.
Azelf @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Stealth Rock
- Psychic
- Taunt
- Explosion
Simple Azelf lead. Gets the job done. Starts with Taunt usually, then sets up Stealth Rock, pretty much guaranteed. Psychic hits hard with Azelf's 125 base SAtk and full EV's. After I'm dead and gone, Explosion takes out whatever gets in its way.
--
Empoleon (M) @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 12 HP/12 Def/232 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Surf
- Grass Knot
- Ice Beam
- Substitute
SubPetaya Empoleon with a twist. I mentioned previously that the Gliscor/Empoleon combo has few weaknesses? This takes advantage of that. Gliscor gets a Rock Polish or two, passes to Empoleon when he's threatened, Empoleon can survive the hit. Substitutes straight away. Has the speed to Roar away any potential phazers, and will go on a rampage once Torrent and Petaya Berry activate.
--
Gliscor (M) @ Yache Berry
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 HP/196 SDef/60 Spd
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Taunt
- Rock Polish
- Swords Dance
- Baton Pass
Hi Skarmory! This lad always forces switches from Empoleon, allowing for a SD. Passes Swords Dance/Rock Polish to Scizor, which is the typical plan, and Rock Polish to Empoleon. This guy is perfect because if he's unthreatened, he can Rock Polish, Swords Dance (maybe twice) and pass to Scizor. If he is threatened, he can Rock Polish and pass to Empoleon, as Empoleon covers his weaknesses.

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 244 HP/252 Atk/12 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Brick Break
- Pursuit
This guy here has one purpose - killing things. And he does it brilliantly. Designed to deal massive damage, and not much else. He can OHKO lots of things, and Pursuit is always handy. Fire moves are redirected to Lanturn, and Ground moves are sent to Gliscor, where I can hopefully get another SD :-) Most games I play, Gliscor comes in a wall, gets 2/3 SD's.
Wow, I didn't have to change the description much :-) I replaced Superpower with Brick Break. The base power difference isn't a big deal considering he's got a SD or two, and it's nice to not lose stats.

Lanturn @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 40 HP/136 SAtk/252 SDef/80 Spd
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
So, Empoleon has a few weaknesses, OK. BoltBeam crushes my SkarmBliss. Meet the best BoltBeam counter in the game. This guy, with his excellent typing and fantastic ability Volt Absorb, will stop that pesky Jolteon in its tracks.

Rotom-h @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 6 HP/252 Speed/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Shadow Ball
- Trick
Revenge killing Rotom. Overheat gets a handy OHKO on Steels like Lucario and Scizor. Thunderbolt gets rid of Gyarados, and Shadow Ball is nice for coverage. Trick is brilliant for screwing up a wall.
This team aims to be a bit balanced. I'm used to running Offensive teams, as playing defensive simply bores the crap out of me. I compromised a bit with this team, which is awesome, because I can play offensively and still take hits. So far I've had mostly success, which is good. One Pokemon that I've had a bit of a weakness to is Heatran for some reason, but that's probably poor management on my part.
Every set here was stolen from the respective Smogon analysis. I'm not really experienced enough yet to come up with my own EV spreads. I tried to come up with my own movesets, then had a look at the sets provided and kinda went "...yeah, that'd work better". Once again, any team building tips are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
