Skarm's burning twin: Torkoal discussion

Hi Guys I'm here to introduce the wall name TORKOAL


Do you want your walls to be unique and surprising? try Torkoal. The only thing that makes it skarm's shadow is the typing , lack of recovery move and bonus from sandstorm.

Notable attack moves:

Earthquake
Gyro ball (works with its 20 base speed)
Flail(I don't think that it will be usable because of its low speed)
Rapid Spin(Yay, wall and spinner in 1)
Explosion(the suicidal comeback)
Body Slam ( no T wave so this will have to do.)
Will o' Wisp (cripple sweepers.)

Notable BUFF moves

Curse(does Skarm have that? Able to actually sweep while walling O_o)
Amnesia/Iron Defence (Beef up defences but inferior to curse)
Withdraw ( do I even care about this)

Notable Special moves(I would advise using this because it will not utilize the buff from curse.)
Eruption(i doubt it will do max power as torkoal will get damaged as it has very low speed.)
Flamethrower
Sludge bomb
Solar beam

Healing technique
Rest

Ability
White smoke(This ability separates this form other walls)

Imagine if a Magnezone would metal sound your wall (like blissey)
It would be open to its special attacks and be helpless.

As you can see, It has a big potential in OU play( that only thing that Dusknoir fears) and a Massive threat in UU.

This set is similar of curelax but has the ability to utilize curse very well with Gyro ball and has rapid spin. A 2 in 1 package.

torkoal is cool i suppose, but his sr weakness barely makes him bl. he does have some cool tricks, like gyro ball and explosion. btw, skarm can know curse and swords dance, and is an overall better sweeper, which you said torkoal was.
 
I think the idea of a Torkoal discussion is good, and you make it sound useful, but it looks like just listed movepools...

One of many reasons that Torkoal isn't used too much is it's weakness to Stealth Rock. That really sucks, with your wall losing 25% every turn it switches into the omnipresent Stealth Rocks. People complain about Fire's typing, and although it has some terrible weaknesses, it also resists some attacks. Still, it's typing fails to Skarmory's. Then there's the rest thing, but it does get some nice advantages:

Will-o-wisp can make it so that not even Earthquakes hurt too much, Rapid Spin helps with team support, and Gyro Ball from 20 speed would hurt only slightly less than Bronzong's STAB'd balls, having base 150 power against anything with 132 speed or more (if my calcs are correct, btw 132 speed is around no speed Bliss, IIRC). Yeah, just 13 base speed (from Bronzong's base speed) can make a huge difference in Gyro Ball's power, which is why 0 speed is so important on those guys. Explosion is also nice. Ultimately, the question is, are these advantages worth it?
