This is my current team. As of now I am ranked in the 1780s 56 won 21 lost. I am nightshiftworker at Pokemon Showdown.
Sorry if my English isn't flawless, I am not a native speaker.
Metang @ Eviolite
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Meteor Mash
- Toxic
- Zen Headbutt
I use it mainly to wall psychic types, I switch it in against Gardevoir, Musharna etc.
It is also good for resisting normal and flying pokemon which often have the boosted facade, the bullet punch lets you get one last hit.
Its attack isnt that strong, but often the fast pokemon with great attacks are very frail.
some rock types like cradily and armaldo do get hurt a lot by meteor smash
It checks jynx if it doesnt get put to sleep
Zen headbutt takes over 50% of the hp of fighting types and Roselia.
With the exception of Bastiodon and probopass it can use toxic on the pokemon that wall it like Alomomola.
Miltank (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Careful Nature
- Body Slam
- Earthquake
- Milk Drink
- Punishment
Punishment to not be useless against Haunter and Misdreavus. Occasionally it gets a chance to surprise the psychic types that boost themselves with calm mind like Musharna and Swoobat.
252 attack so it has some offensive power, thick fat 252 special defense because I switch it in against fire pokemon and ice pokemon like Charizard and Glaceon. Body slam for stab and paralyzing. Earthquake for electric, poison, rock and steel pokemon.
Vileplume @ Black Sludge
Trait: Effect Spore
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Aromatherapy
- Giga Drain
- Sleep Powder
- Sludge Bomb
I use it against Golurk, who generally uses fighting type attacks and gets super effective damage from Giga Drain, and against fighting types. Also because of effect spore every times some pokemon punches Vileplume there is a 30% chance of getting paral/sleep/poison. It is also good against pure grass pokemon like Tangrowth because of stab sludge bomb, and water pokemon, thou Vileplume is slow and they usually have Ice beam.
Its attacks are only worthless against steel types, I use it mainly for spreading statuses through its ability, sleep powder, sludge bomb.
I think effect spore is very underrated because Breelom has two even better abilities. It is a great ability.
Aromatherapy for healing.
Marowak @ Thick Club
Trait: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Bonemerang
- Double-Edge
- Earthquake
- ThunderPunch
I use it for massive damage against anything that doesn't levitate or fly, it is usually the pokemon that finishes off Bastiodon and Probopass. It needs a lot of timing because its special defense is very weak.
Thunderpunch instead of a rock type attack because it has 100% accuracy and is enough to faint with one strike all bird pokemon and drifblim. If you predict your opponent thinks you will use earthquake and switch in a flying type, you can surprise him with thunderpunch.
Sometimes you can surprise water types too, the opponent thinks you will switch out the marowak, uses a boosting move, and you hit it with thunderpunch. It has 252 defense so it can resist one boosted facade.
To be sincere I almost never get a chance to use bonemerang.
Weezing @ Black Sludge
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 Def
Modest Nature
- Flamethrower
- Sludge Bomb
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp
Modest because along with Vileplume it is the only special attacker I have.
It is very useful for crippling with w-o-w, it can also spread status with sludge bomb.
It is a very safe pokemon since it is only weak againt psychic types. It has flamethrower to be able to do some damage to steel types (you can often bring them down through the combined damage of w-o-w and flamethrower) and to be able to do some damage to poison types and ghosts.
Very good against fighting types except Sawk with earthquake.
Before flamethrower I had clear smog and I don't miss it. Pain Split is great.
Relicanth @ Expert Belt
Trait: Rock Head
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Head Smash
- Stealth Rock
- Waterfall
Self explainable, stealth rock, head smash is my most or second most powerful attack, 252 special defense because I want it to resist special attacks like Psychic. Its defense is already very high and can resist boosted facade.
My biggest problem.
I always lose to rain teams. Luckily they are not that common.
The 2 pokemon that give me the most problem
Exeggutor with harvest. The two pokemon with super effective poison attacks are weak to psychic, it is often a nightmare when it uses substitute, leech seed and gets it hp refilled by the berry.
Alomomola
I can only beat it with Vileplume, Weezing (though it is very hard, I have to use a combination of well timed sludge bomb, poison or burned status, + will o wisp) or to toxic it with Metang hoping that none of the other pokemons of the opponent have heal bell or aromatherapy.
Sometimes I have more pokemons "alive" than my opponent, but I have to tell him, bye, I will forfeit, because I have no special attacker ot metang with toxic to deal with Alomomola.
