Well, here we are again; it's always such a pleasure. I once again consult the RMT forums for advice regarding my OU team. If you remember my last RMT, this team is slightly similar to that one, but I've edited it a lot since then, obviously making it slower and bulkier. Tell me what you think, and as usual, PLEASE be constructive with your criticism and don't bother submitting any essay rants (or at least have the half-decency to put a tl;dr at the end.)
Penisaur (Venusaur) (M) @ Venusaurite | Ability: Chlorophyll ---> Thick Fat
EVs: 248 HP / 72 Def / 188 SDef | Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Synthesis
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Leech Seed
Good ol' Mega-Venusaur. Easily the most dedicated mixed wall in the entire OU meta. And boy, does he do his job! Mega-Venusaur is a special case, a case in which it almost has it all: reliable recovery, great defenses on both sides, and a stellar defensive ability all add up to one mean green walling machine. With only 2 weaknesses in Flying and Psychic by virtue of Thick Fat, MVenu can be quite a tough nut to crack. Synthesis is for getting HP up quick, Giga Drain is for hitting things while regaining a little HP, Sludge Bomb is for hitting other Grass-types that can't really do jack shit to MVenu, and Leech Seed is for more residual recovery so I don't have to rely on Synthesis and Giga Drain all the time. (It can also provide some healing to my other team members as a bonus!)
Sexcadrill (Excadrill) (M) @ Choice Scarf | Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 Def | Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin
- Iron Head
Which OU threat do I want to revenge kill today? Yup, Scarf Excadrill is at it again! Excadrill essentially plays a double role on my team: a revenge killer and a hazard remover. Earthquake spam might seem like a horrendous idea, but it's more forgivable thanks to Excadrill's ability, Mold Breaker, which lets it hit levitating Mons with EQ, like the Lati twins and Rotom-Wash. Rock Slide is so Excadrill can hit Flying-types harder, namely Talonflame, which would otherwise survive an Iron Head and KO with a Flare Blitz in return. Rapin Spin is for hazard removal, which isn't too terribly important since I only have one SR-weak Pokemon on the whole team, but it certainly couldn't hurt to have. Iron Head is the icing on this delicious cake; an icing that hates Fairy- and Ice-types.
Heatranny (Heatran) (M) @ Leftovers | Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SDef / 8 SAtk | Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Lava Plume
- Will-O-Wisp
- Roar
- Stealth Rock
Mmm, delicious fire... Heatran can take basically any special hit thrown at it and spit some nice juicy lava at the foe in return... how cute. It can also absorb those stray flares from passing Talonflame or Charizard to power up its STAB moves. STAB Lava Plume coming off of 130 base Sp. Atk. is no laughing matter, even uninvested. Will-O-Wisp can easily be used to cripple a physical sweeper or two and also does a good job at giving Heatran's lower defense a boost. Roar can be used to phaze out any potential checks or counters and even rack up some SR damage. Heatran's incredible special bulk lends itself quite nicely to setting up Stealth Rocks for some chip damage, which is much appreciated by the entire team.
Tyranitap (Tyranitar) (M) @ Assault Vest | Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 176 Def / 84 Atk / 248 HP | Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Pursuit
Oh boy, now THIS beast can take a hit! Tyranitar is basically the textbook definition of a tank. Its defense is great, its attack is stupidly high, and its special defense is boosted by Sand Stream and Assault Vest! What more could you want? Well, maybe not a 4x Fighting- weakness, but that's beside the point. Stone Edge can be used to nail almost any Bug-, Fire-, Flying-, and Ice-type in the tier and is also a VERY strong STAB move. Crunch and Pursuit can work together to play some insane mindgames with the opponent; they may want to switch into their T-Tar counter, or they may predict a Pursuit and choose to stay in only to be hit by Crunch or one of T-Tar's other coverage moves. Finally, there's Earthquake, which is pretty much for hitting any Rock- or Steel-type for massive damage. And Heatran.
Fagsire (Quagsire) (M) @ Leftovers | Ability: Unaware
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef | Relaxed Nature
- Toxic
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Recover
And you thought Klefki was annoying... say hello to Quagsire, the bane of everyone's existence. Quagsire is a simple Pokemon; you take a hit, and then you spread some status around in the form of Toxic and Scald. It also appreciates having its lower defense boosted by Sandstorm from T-Tar. Toxic will deal more damage and is more reliable than Scald for spreading status, but Scald can alternatively be used to burn anything that's immune to Toxic, such as Heatran and Bisharp. EQ can be used to rack up a little damage on the side after the opponent has already been statused and Recover is used to gain back what little damage you may have taken. Simple Pokemon, simple description.
Kyurem-Bitch (Kyurem-Black) @ Life Orb | Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 56 HP / 252 Spd / 200 SAtk | Mild Nature
- Roost
- Fusion Bolt
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
If there's anyone on my team who can dish out a LOT of damage, it's this guy right here. Kyurem-B has fantastic offenses on both sides of the spectrum, ESPECIALLY physically. When you slap a LO on this thing, you get what is known by some as "a wallbreaker" and by others as "a metagame destroying monster." I prefer to think of it as the latter. Roost is for healing back HP (mostly from LO recoil), Fusion Bolt is for hitting things with ludicrous power coming off of its stronger attack stat, Ice Beam is for coverage against too many things to count, including other Dragons and MVenu. (Thanks, Teravolt!) Earth Power is for hitting anything that resists the other two attacking moves, like Steel-types and Rotom-Wash. (again, thanks Teravolt!)
