Slowking excels as a specially defensive pivot for Water teams with its access to Teleport and its ability Regenerator. Teleport bolsters its capabilities as a bulky pivot as it allows Slowking to move last while switching, thus bringing teammates such as Keldeo and Primarina safely. Future Sight allows Slowking to chip opposing Pokemon, while also forcing out switches in matchups such as Dragon and Poison occasionally. Scald is used to spread burn on foes like Ferrothorn, Toxapex, and Hatterene to block their passive recovery and cripple offensive Pokemon such as Jirachi. Slack Off allows Slowking to remain healthy for the remainder of the battle. Regenerator further enhances Slowking as a pivot, as it complements excellently with Teleport and Slowking's good natural bulk, allowing it to restore its lost HP with the switch. Heavy-Duty Boots compliments Teleport, as it allows Slowking to negate the damage from entry hazards thus making Slowking a much more effective pivot. A spread in maximized special bulk along with a Calm Nature is used to benefit best from Slowking as a specially defensive pivot.
Toxapex makes up an excellent teammate for Slowking, with its many qualities; its ability in Regenerator and good physical bulk allows the duo to act as a solid defensive backbone for Water teams, its access to Toxic allows Slowking to force out Pokemon more easily with the help of Future Sight, and the type synergy they share allows them to switch into each other's checks as Toxapex can handle Bug- and Grass-type attacks while Slowking can switch into powerful Psychic-type Pokemon in Indeedee-M, Alakazam, and Gardevoir. Seismitoad is a good partner with its part-Ground typing to absorb Electric-type attacks. Furthermore, Seismitoad provides Stealth Rock for the team. Pelipper is another good teammate that appreciates the slow pivoting with Teleport, as this allows Pelipper to get up Drizzle safely without getting hit. With its U-turn, Pelipper can also act as a fast pivot against slower Pokemon in Hatterene and opposing Toxapex and with Defog it can remove Slowking's reliability on Heavy-Duty Boots by removing the entry hazards. Offensive teammates such as Keldeo, Primarina, Dracovish, and Crawdaunt also appreciate the slow pivoting of Teleport, as they don't have to worry about the chip damage and negative effects such as Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave.
