Nasty Plot

- Water/Psychic is a very good defensive typing, having over 6 resistances, with one notable one being Fighting.
- 95/110 special bulk is extremely good, letting it take on special attackers fairly well.
- An extremely wide movepool offensively and defensively means Slowking can avert passivity issues and can support its team in many ways.
- Although Water/Psychic is a great defensive typing, it also carries some serious weaknesses to common attacking types in Dark, Grass, Electric, and Ghost.
- Its physical bulk is also terrible and as such leaves it vulnerable to being overwhelmed by physical attackers like Single-Strike Urshifu, Bisharp, Knock Off Conkeldurr, Aegislash, and Scizor.
- Even with its good special bulk, it can still be pressured and forced out by the likes of Hydreigon, Kyurem and Magearna due to its weaknesses.

Potential Movesets:
Long Live the King
Slowking @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Def
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Teleport
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Ice Beam

This set tries to accomplish the same thing Slowbro does; be a Defensive Pivot, albeit specially. The role of a Special Pivot is more niche than a Physical Pivot, as currently physical attackers are more threatening than special attackers. Still, Slowking can still function perfectly fine for this role, as its traits make it good defensively and decent offensively. Scald is here to inflict burns and do some damage, Ice Beam is to hit dragons like Hydreigon. Teleport is also in this set to give safe switch-ins to its teammates, and Slack Off recovers HP. What else can I say?

Literally almost everything about Slowking can be applied to Slowbro as well, since it has mostly the same movepool, typing and abilities. The only thing that distinguishes it from Slowbro is that it's specially defensive instead of physically, which also ends up making it worse than Slowbro. Still, it does haves its uses, don't get me wrong, such as coming in on certain special attackers like Alakazam, unboosted Volcarona or Togekiss, but these aren't as many as Slowbro's physical tanking. Sorry, Slowking. You'll get your chance one day...in a lower tier, probably. Also you could try to run Nasty Plot but Slowbro got it this gen so that's one less trait unique to Slowking

Slowbro is definitely better overall but I do see Slowking having a small niche, as it can come in on Pokemon like Alakazam and Magearna and cripple them with Thunder Wave, while threatening incoming physical attackers with a Scald burn. Its solid special bulk even allows it to take hits like +1 Bug Buzz from Volcarona in a pinch: +1 252 SpA Volcarona Bug Buzz vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Slowking: 306-362 (77.6 - 91.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
FWIW, 252 / 200 + Slowking accomplishes the same as 252 /252 + in regards to slowbro. It still avoids the +1 volc bug buzz, and avoids the +2 Zam shadow ball OHKO.
+1 252 SpA Volcarona Bug Buzz vs. 252 HP / 200+ SpD Slowking: 320-378 (81.2 - 95.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 SpA Life Orb Alakazam Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 200+ SpD Slowking: 328-387 (83.2 - 98.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
The leftovers EV's aren't particularly important, but the physical MU can be improved a bit if one so desires.
