[OVERVIEW]

  • Mandibuzz is an excellent choice for its incredible defensive typing, good stats and good movepool that lets it check many threats such as Metagross and Mega Sceptile.
  • Mandibuzz's ability Overcoat dissuades many Pokemon from running powder type moves, such as Roserade running Sleep Powder.
  • With Toxic, Knock Off and Taunt, Mandibuzz can make progress against both offensive and defensive teams.
  • A somewhat wide movepool gives Mandibuzz and element of unpredictability.
  • With its Stealth Rock weakness Mandibuzz can struggle with switching in and staying healthy, unlike the tiers other defensive stallwarts like Slowbro.
  • Mandibuzz often has to choose between physical and special defence leaving it somewhat vulnerable to whichever it didn't choose.

Moves
=============
  • Knock Off is the primary STAB as it removes items and can make Mandibuzz, aswell as hitting Steel-types like Metagross and Registeel better.
  • The combination of Toxic and Taunt makes Mandibuzz a nuisance for defensive Pokemon. Its able to spread poison whilst preventing them healing with Taunt.
  • Taunt is good even when used without Toxic. It allows Mandibuzz to 1v1 Registeel, aswell as preventing Stealth Rocks. (maybe a sentence about mindgames w diancie w taunt)
  • Brave Bird hits Golisopod, Araquanid and Fighting-types like Virizion and Passimian.
  • Foul Play is an option to discourage Pokemon, like Slurpuff and Toxicroak, boosting their attack stat against Mandibuzz. However Knock Off is usually preferred for its utility and ability to cripple Registeel. Foul Play does compress Dark STAB and a way to hit boosting Fighting-types, however the popularity of Fighting-types that don't need to boost like Passiman makes this less reliable.
Set details
=============

  • The given speed outspeeds Adamant Tyrantrum and Metagross.
  • HP is to take less damage from Stealth Rocks.
  • The remaining EVs are dumped into Special Defence to better check Pokemon like Mega Sceptile.
  • You can put remaining EVs into Defence if your team values the physical defence more.

Moves
=============
  • Defog Mandibuzz is good role compression because Mandibuzz only needs Roost and an attack to serve as a useful defensive Pokemon.
  • Knock Off removes Leftovers from Diancie, Registeel and Rhyperior meaning they are worn down more and Mandibuzz can potentially outlast them throughout the game.
  • It struggles with common Stealth Rock setters such as Diancie and Mandibuzz.
  • It has a good match-up against Stealth Rock setters Metagross and, with Taunt, Registeel.
  • Toxic lets Mandibuzz outlast Diancie and Rhyperior aswell as being generally difficult to switch into. It also gives Mandibuzz a way to hit Blastoise. However, it means Registeel is much harder to deal with as it can freely use Toxic and cripple Mandibuzz.
Set details
=============
  • The given speed outspeeds Adamant Tyrantrum and Metagross.
  • Defensive investment lets Mandibuzz better deal with Metagross, however Special Defence can be used instead to do better vs Roserade, Sceptile and Stealth Rocks Necrozma.
  • Special Investment means that Mandibuzz does better against Nidoqueen, however Nidoqueen can use Taunt or Toxic to beat Mandibuzz, and if Stealth Rocks are on the field Ice Beam always 2HKOs and Sludge Wave has a chance to.

Other Options
=============

List some options for the Pokemon user that are plausible but not always recommended due to being either not consistent enough or too outclassed by other Pokemon in the metagame.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Diancie**: Diancie switches in on Mandibuzz and threatens it out with a Super-effective STAB Moonblast aswell as threatening to set Stealth Rocks. If it is carrying Heal Bell it can also shrug off Toxic. Mandibuzz however can remove its Leftovers. Mandibuzz can also Taunt on Stealth Rock or Heal Bell and pivot out safely, but this runs the risk of getting hit by Moonblast.
