Manaphy @ Waterium Z
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 252 HP / 184 SpA / 72 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Surf
- Ice Beam / Psychic
- Rest
- Tail Glow

Don't be fooled by its cute appearance—Manaphy is one of the most threatening wallbreakers in SM OU. Manaphy shines on rain teams, using its solid bulk and Rest + Hydration to gain ample setup opportunities by exploiting the presence of defensive Pokemon like Chansey and Toxapex. Tail Glow and its rain-boosted Hydro Vortex let it effortlessly break past even some of the most stalwart Water-resistant foes in the tier, including Toxapex, Tapu Fini, and Ferrothorn. However, a coverage move makes its job easier by minimizing prediction and conserving its Z-Move. While Ice Beam is most often used to hit Mega Latias, Tapu Bulu, and Tangrowth for super effective damage, Psychic can deal with Toxapex without using its Z-Move. Common teammates on rain, like Mega Swampert and Ash Greninja, love Manaphy efficiently removing their aforementioned checks and clearing the way for an easy clean-up with their Water-type moves. Manaphy's only real weak point is its Speed—but Tornadus-T and Ferrothorn can stop faster revenge killers like Kartana, Serperior, and Tapu Koko while pivoting back into Manaphy on common defensive switch-ins like Heatran and Toxapex.

Don't be fooled by its cute appearance - Manaphy is one of the most threatening wallbreakers in USUM OU thanks to its fantastic bulk, ability Hydration, and, most importantly, its signature move Tail Glow. Manaphy shines on rain teams, where it can use its solid bulk and Rest in tandem with Hydration to gain ample setup opportunities in rain by abusing the presence of defensive Pokemon like Chansey and Toxapex that try to check it with status. The combination of Tail Glow and Waterium Z lets it effortlessly break past through even some of the most stalwart Water resists in the tier with rain up, including Toxapex, Tapu Fini, and Ferrothorn. For perspective, its Tail Glow-boosted Hydro Vortex is capable of OHKOing all of these Pokemon in rain. However, it can also run coverage moves to make its job easier by minimizing prediction and conserving its Z-Move. While Ice Beam is most often used to hit Mega Latias, Tapu Bulu, and Tangrowth for super effective damage, Psychic can deal with Toxapex without using its Z-Move. Common teammates on rain, like Mega Swampert and Ash Greninja, love Manaphy's ability to efficiently remove their aforementioned checks and clear the way for an easy clean-up with their Water moves. Would give mention to Manaphy's defensive holes and proness to being revenged due to its mediocre speed tier, like its vulnerability to Kartana, Serperior, and Tapu Koko, along with the rain teammates that aid against them.
If its too over the word limit tag on discord and we can shorten the starting introduction a little, but other than that, QC 1/1
