Week 19: Seismitoad
:sm/seismitoad:
Seismitoad has been recently seeing a lot of use in SPL thanks to its good defensive typing and utility movepool that lets it effectively compress roles and be a good switch-in to various common threats.
Your goal this week is to post creative and viable movesets for Seismitoad that are NOT listed as sample sets in its SmogDex entry. You have 7 days from now to post sets, after which the voting phase will begin.
Deadline: 1st May 2024 11:30PM, GMT + 5:30.

Seismitoad @ Groundium Z
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Infestation
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
infestation is a really cool tech that plays on toxapex's tendency to stay in to grab a toxic/tspike against seismi, and just removing it straight up. groundium is also useful to KO MMaw in a pinch and Tapu Lele switching in

Seismitoad @ Leftovers
Ability: Poison Touch
EVs: 244 HP / 36 Def / 216 SpD / 12 Spe
Careful Nature
- Substitute
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Knock Off

what does this do? setup in front of non whip ferro and smack them with scald burns, subs to annoy the crap out of them and just spread poison with knock off who also distrubts the item flow of opponents and stops smth like rotom-w, mega latias, tang, bulu from stalling it out or taking advantage of it

to bad i subbed it to late

Week 20: Bisharp
:sm/bisharp:
Bisharp is a staple on Sticky Web hyper offense thanks to being a very effective detterent for Defog and being a very dangerous sweeper with Swords Dance + Sucker Punch. However, it is rarely seen as Sticky Web is a very inconsistent playstyle and it doesn't have much of niche outside of it.
Your goal this week is to post creative and viable movesets for Bisharp that are NOT listed as sample sets in its SmogDex entry. You have 7 days from now to post sets, after which the voting phase will begin.
Deadline: 11th July 2024 11:30PM, GMT + 5:30.

Bisharp @ Assault Vest
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Pursuit
- Knock Off

AV bisharp is slightly diff from other bisharp in that it prioritizes utility on more balance teams. This allows it to trap stuff like mega zam, mega latias, and be able to take special hits a lot better with it like lele moonblast, greninja hydro pump, koko tbolt, and torn-t heat wave for ex

Bisharp @ Choice Band
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 24 HP / 240 Atk / 244 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Knock Off
- Pursuit
- Sucker Punch

In a metagame where Tyranitar-Mega and Weavile are the main pursuit users, Bisharp with Choice Band takes advantage from the fact that the majority of the people will expect Swords Dance set. Not only it catch people off-guard with the damage output, the combination of an expected Sucker Punch and the surprising Pursuit often create a lot of opportunity where you can trap some key threats such as Alakazam-Mega or Medicham-Mega. Finally, Bisharp does not suffer from a weakness to Stealth Rock and it is immune to Toxic Spikes.

Bisharp @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Brick Break
- Rock polish

Giving bisharp rock polish with a jolly nature can compensate for its low speed tier, rock polish would allow to outspeed threats such as tapu lele, mega alakazam(even though sucker punch kills) and more. Giving it fightinoum Z allows it to 2hko heatran and ferrothorn.
Basically it is suggested to use rock polish Z bisharp as a late game sweeper.
Jolly bisharp after rock polish boost also outspeeds scarf kartana and ohkos w Z brick break after rocks.

how i came up with this set was just inspiration taken from mega ampharos set in gen 7 randbat

Stealth Rock Lead

Bisharp @ Focus Sash
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch / Taunt / Rock Tomb
- Iron Head / Taunt / Rock Tomb

This Bisharp set aims to get up Stealth Rock and acts as an anti-lead against other hazard leads like Mew, Excadrill, and Mega Diancie. Knock Off is mandatory to remove leftovers from Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Toxic Orb from Gliscor if the Toxic Orb hasn't yet activated, Damp Rock from Pelipper, and help capitalize on the boost gained from Defiant vs Landorus-T. Knock Off also hits Excadrill harder than Low Kick. Sucker Punch helps pick off Excadrill if it has taken some prior chip damage from Knock Off in addition to chipping Landorus-T or anyone else attempting to finish it off. Finally, Iron Head threatens a One-Hit KO on Mega Diancie while also threatening other Fairy types like Tapu Lele, Clefable, and Tapu Bulu. This set shines best on hyper offense builds utilizing Taunt and Defog support from Serperior to ensure that hazards stay off the field, enabling Pokemon like Volcarona and Mega Charizard X to clean up later in the game.

As for the other move options, Taunt is a good option to prevent the opponent from setting up their hazards or setting up stat boosts while Rock Tomb is another option to mess with Tornadus-T.

Week 21: Jirachi
:sm/jirachi:
Jirachi has a good defensive typing and good bulk that lets it be a decent check to Magearna, Alakazam and Tapu Lele. It also provides some speed control with Choice Scarf and can give setup sweepers a second wind with Healing Wish. Defensive sets with Wish + Protect are also used occasionaly on specific defensive teams.
Your goal this week is to post creative and viable movesets for Jirachi that are NOT listed as sample sets in its SmogDex entry. You have 7 days from now to post sets, after which the voting phase will begin.
Deadline: 28th July 2024 11:30PM, GMT + 5:30.

DOOM DESIRE

Jirachi @ Steelium Z
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Doom Desire
- Thunder
- Healing Wish
- U-turn

Doom desire functions similarly to future sight (hitting a mon after 2 turns).
Jirachi can take advantage of Doom desires 140 power w stab, having u-turn with it can be beneficial as jirachi can pivot after that expecting landoT , gliscor and other stuff which can be deemed as threats. With the doom desire activated this would eventually be able to create some pressure on the opposing team.
Jirachi’s ability Serena grace allows jirachi to take advantage of thunder having a 60 percent chance to get paralysis and hit mons like skarm and celesteela.

Healing wish can be beneficial as it could give a second life to mons that can be deemed as threats for the opposing team such as
Char X , tapu bulu , mega maw , ash gren are deemed as good partners for jirachi.

Finally jirachi runs max speed to speed draw with other 328 mons like volcarona , Zard Y and X and other base 100 mons.

Jirachi calcs:-
252 SpA Jirachi Corkscrew Crash (200 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 328-387 (85.8 - 101.3%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 240 HP / 104 Def / 56 SpD / 108 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Thunder
- Calm Mind
- Skill Swap / Protect / Wish

Some idiotic set. Jirachi can be a decent user of Calm Mind since it has obviously a good bulk and it is immune to Toxic. Psyshock to bypass Chansey and Thunder to either hit some steels (such as Skarmory or Heatran) or punish certain checks (after or before the set was fully revealed) such as Latias-Mega or Ferrothorn. For the last move, raw Wish or Protect helps to improve Jirachi's staying power. Otherwise, I think Skill Swap is a convenient tech on Jirachi in general: the main idea is that it helps Jirachi to punish certain hard abusers such as Gliscor or Heatran.

For the ev spread:

-108 speed : outspeed Jolly Bisharp

-240 HP + 104 Def Bold :
0 Atk Gliscor Earthquake vs. 240 HP / 104+ Def Jirachi: 168-200 (41.8 - 49.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

-240 HP + 56 SpD:
252 SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Hidden Power Fire vs. 240 HP / 56 SpD Jirachi: 186-220 (46.3 - 54.8%) -- 9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
