SMASHING: A Tyrantrum RMT

Tyrantrum is probably my favorite fossil pokemon I used it on my first ever playthrough of a Pokemon game, Pokemon X and it was a valuable member of my team. Due to my sentimental attachment to Tyrantrum I was always thinking of building a team around it and in this quest to build around Tyrantrum I have found that Tyrantrum with the proper support is a devestating threat that OU community is sleeping on. Now you may ask “Mercupty why is Tyrantrum a pokemon in the NU tier rn so devestating in Ou“ and the answer is simple Choice Band Head Smash, Tyrantrums banded Head Smash, CB Head Smash is fucking ridiculous it cleanly two hit kos some of the best defensive mons in the tier and one shots almost every thing else. And it takes no recoil from Head Smash due to Rock Head. With this Dino as the star I have built a team that can devastate the OU tier and today I’m here show that team

Adamant Nature
- Head Smash

This thing is ridiculous when I said in the intro that CB head smash can two hit ko many relevant defensive mons I wasn’t exageratting
Here some spicy calcs to prove Tyrantrums sheer power.
252+ Atk Choice Band Tyrantrum Head Smash vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Corviknight: 267-315 (66.9 - 78.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Tyrantrum Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex: 204-241 (67.1 - 79.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
-1 252+ Atk Choice Band Tyrantrum Head Smash vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Landorus-Therian: 279-328 (87.4 - 102.8%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Tyrantrum Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn: 244-288 (69.3 - 81.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Yeah Tyrantrum is a monster, its head smash is lethal and with the support system I have built around it, It gets many opportunities to wreak havoc on opposing teams, with that being said Tyrantrum is a glass cannon and provides little utility on the defense but its sheer offensive power makes up for its lack of defensive utility.

Weavile @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Triple Axel
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
Now when Tyrantrum done annihilating enemy teams there needs to be somebody that can reliably take care of what few pokemon remain after Tyrantrums rampage, Fortunately Weavile‘s fits that job description perfectly, It’s fast speed tier and good priority in Ice Shard allow it two clean up the enemy team rather efficently, Additonaly it pairs well with Tapu Koko who can u turn on ground types to bring in Weavile freely and it also pairs well with Slowbro’s future sight as it helps it deal with Toxapex. It also helps Tyrantrum eliminate shared checks like Ferrothorn. Overall Weavile provides a speedy attacking presence that this team needs.

It’s access to defog allows for reliable hazard removal and knock off allows it to cripple opposing pokemon by removing its item. Torn also has a good speed tier being able to outspeed and check many common pokemon, Overall Torn provides some much needed ulitity to this team

Koko also is very fast and outspeeds a majority of the tier, It’s speed along with Weavile and up for Tyrantrums lacking speed stat and provides a speedy trio that few pokemon outspeed.
