This thread will discuss all things related to the 2010 Smogon Fantasy Hockey season. (You're welcome Adam!)

12 team H2H league. Auction draft with 3 (?) keepers for the coming seasons. Each season after this will be a standard snake draft based on finish (12th picks first, etc). There is a 4 move limit per week and a 50 move limit for the season. Unlimited trades. 2 divisions with each division winner receiving a first round playoff bye. Remaining 4 best teams after that make playoffs.

Roster Positions: C, C, LW, LW, RW, RW, D, D, D, D, G, G, BN, BN, BN, BN, IR
Forwards/Defensemen Stat Categories: Goals (G), Assists (A), Plus/Minus (+/-), Powerplay Points (PPP), Shots on Goal (SOG), Hits (HIT)
Goaltenders Stat Categories: Wins (W), Goals Against Average (GAA), Save Percentage (SV%)

Draft is set for Sunday October 3rd.. looking like 10PM EST.

Any gripes before the draft.. speak now or shut the fuck up! lol
 
In to express surprise at the fact there's a trade request themed team that isnt paul

Don't think I'm gonna be able to draft an Islander this year, now that Streit and Okposo are out. I could go for Tavares, but I feel since we're going to a keeper he'll be going for higher than I'd like.

Maybe I could go for comedy DiPietro 3rd goalie...
 
A lot of the everything nhl thread was tying in real nhl moves and valuing them in fantasy terms, at least from what I can remember from the last couple of seasons. Its not really a bad thing to move this thread over here but I think what will happen is the everything nhl thread is going to become very inactive because more and more as the season goes on, fantasy is what gets important to the most active people on that board.

In any case it doesn't matter, fantasy draft is on Sunday, going to be a big fun weekend, nhl season should start shortly after....I haven't looked aT any real schedules but the 4th or 5th of october is always the normal and that would be monday/Tuesday respectively. Should be interesting all around though!
 
it will be slightly annoying to check both threads, especially since the organization of the fantasy league is essentially over at this point, meaning all we will really discuss is the actual players now.

but it's not a huge deal, will just have to check both!

EDIT: the last thing i need to do is arrange the divisions... should i just do it snake style from last years standings? or same as last year?
 
Also my team name will probably change, but I don't want to give out any names I am targetting yet.

So going with a slapshot reference is the safe option.
 
I'd prefer last year's too, though iirc it didn't do so well in the poll




Anyway to give you guys an idea of how unprepared I am this year I am just now finally looking at player values, lol. Probably won't get it done tonight because I'm falling asleep already for some reason, so behind this year...

As always, everything on my team is available for the right price. Lundqvist and Keith probably somewhat less so. Particularly in need of midtier RW and LW types.




Mostly just posting to say it was really great everyone managed to show up. It wasn't looking like we'd be able to find a time where things would work out for a while, but I'm really glad it did. I think there's probably holes in all of our teams we'd like to fix right now but the rosters are the most even I can remember them being at the start of a season right now(I'd say Vin's team is the best, somewhat amusingly, since it easily has the fewest holes) and it'll be a particularly fun year because of it, I think.

Auction was really fun and I definitely had more fun in this draft than any other year.

Auction was indeed fun, besides the fucked up time. Ended up with 2 hours sleep over the night, so hope I can stay awake during the upcoming meeting.

Quite satisfied with my team, just made 2 picks I wish I didn't, and 2 players I shouldn't have missed out on and quitted just too early (Eriksson and Ehrhoff).

But oh well, got atleast some of the players I wanted in Neal, Duchene, Rask, Hall.
 
I have faith in Bobrovsky, own him in almost all my dynasty leagues (beside one).
With Jackal's last season luck he'll take over the starting job aswell.

Not sure if he's really worse of. Not Halak or Niemi were expected to be #1 goaltenders at the beginning of last season and not sure who else Jackal had.
 
That was a fun little learning experience for me. I feel like I overpaid for a few players (here's looking at you, Gionta), but overall I'm pretty happy with the squad I have. Here's wishing everyone a good season.
