Smogon from a new member's perspective

I wanted this article to be about my first impression and how that has changed, even in the small amount of time that I've here. I'm hoping to get some feedback here on how to better improve this idea, as the target audience here would primarily be towards newer members and I think I can relate strongly with them seeing as I'm not that well-versed on smogon myself. D:

Anyway! I figured that each issue of The Smog, I would update with more and more experiences of mine at Smogon. n_n Think of this as kind of like a "dear diary" esque entry, yknow?

What does everyone else think about this? o: I think I would explain better if there were questions asked so I can get my ideas flushed out and whatnot.

Thanks for taking the time to submit an idea for The Smog! Writing about a topic that will span across multiple issues is something we're wary about by default, since the topic not only needs to have enough material to write about, but to also be able to keep the reader's interest with each passing issue. Attracting new users and to offer a neat 'survival guide' to the community would be nice, but since you're a new user yourself, that might be a hard subject to deliver. And while the diary format could certainly be used to show your progress in steps, it may also be difficult for everyone following it to feel that they will be able to repeat or attempt the same things that happen to you. So while I welcome the initiative, I'm afraid that this article pitch leaves me uncertain that the end product will live up to its goals.

Although...

... we do have someone writing articles about a similar topic for this next issue, where he'll go into detail what new users will do well to avoid, and what our fully matured members can keep in mind while dealing with new ones. If you feel that you have some valuable insight to offer him through your perspective, I could check if he's open for advice.

That would definitely help, thanks! I don't really mind if this is rejected, I wasn't sure if this was something that was done or not. xD

Having a perspective from a driver on PS! would definitely be good to have. I'd highly encourage you to get in touch with Audiosurfer, who I believe is writing the article Bummer spoke of

Audiosurfer is indeed who I was thinking of, although keep it to IRC or PMs/Conversations, as messages on profiles can be read by all. :V
