Smogon Set Archive

Have you ever been looking for a set on Smogon and realize that the set has now been replaced or taken down completely?

This situation has certainly happened to me before, and this is why I am suggesting a Smogon Archive. This archive could be placed in the forums or on a different part of the main site (although this might conflict with the current strategies revolving around the current metagame). There could even be a cool link in the Other Options section on a Pokemon's strategy guide (maybe titled "Older Sets"), linking them to a different thread on the forums dedicated to the Pokemon they were just looking at. This thread on the forums could be full of sets, not necessarily the full strategy of them, that we all used to use before the metagame changed.

Obviously (at least to me) this needs to be implemented into the Smogon site somehow. A good reason for this change to come sooner rather than later is the threat of Generation V Pokemon looming above our heads. The reason this is so important: some of the old sets that we used to use might work rather well against some of the new Generation's threats.

Also, it would be a good reference for some people who have used the sets in the past. For example: the former Scarf Tyranitar set still works pretty well, it's just that there was a slightly different idea used and it became the standard. This limits the creativity of the person looking for the old Scarf Tyranitar set. One could think that since it has been replaced, or that it wasn't good at all. The truth is that it is still around on the site, but just as the MixTar set. But people wouldn't normally think to put a Scarf on that.

So i guess what I'm trying to say is, Smogon should find some kind of way to incorporate the previous sets we all used back into the site, and back into the metagame.

If there's any set removed from the analysis, it's generally for a really good reason. I guess if you want something back, you could PM a friendly badgeholder and he could do the digging for you though the SCMS.
