This thread will tell you all about how to get started with contributing to Smogon's social media, helping us bring content to our userbase, building hype for our tournaments or providing information on suspects and metagame trends! If you have questions or are interested in contributing, you can reach out to one of the Social Media Leaders (Marnie, goldmason, or Maia) or one of the section-specific leaders listed below.

Social Media Spotlights
Contributing to Social Media Spotlights is as easy as waiting for sets to be posted in the Spotlight Reservations thread and posting to claim the set you want to write about! Make sure you read the rules and guidelines for spotlights before diving in, and be aware of the tighter turnaround times compared to other C&C sections. The moderators of the Spotlights project are: Marnie, April, Eledyr, and Maia.

Trivia Tuesday and Who's That Pokemon?
These two projects are organized in our Social Media Ops Discord and involve coming up with questions or puzzles for our social media audience to solve. These are designed to drive engagement with our social media and give our users something to interact with. The leader of these projects is Kiwi.

YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok
Our YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok teams are focused on providing engaging and informative content to a wide audience and is always looking for more contributor in various aspects. To contribute to any part of the process, fill out the interest form.
  • Commentators and Casters: Knowledgeable in specific metagame or ability to provide compelling general play-by-play commentary, commentators and casters focus largely on game analysis and Smogon Game Day livestreams. A good mic is a must. The leaders of this section are goldmason, Dave, and freezai.
  • Narrators: No specific knowledge required here, narrators voice over scripted videos and shorts, usually informative in nature rather than analytical. A good mic is still a must. The leader of this section is goldmason.
  • Editors: Taking raw videos and polishing them into finished products, editors are needed to help maintain the professionalism of our videos and ensure they get out on schedule. The leaders of this section are RADU and Mr. Uncompetitive.
  • Graphics Contributors and Thumbnail Artists: Creating in-video graphics to take advantage of the visual medium(s) and attractive thumbnails to draw audiences to our videos, as well as creating templates for use across multiple videos. The leaders of this section are uppa and Kalalokki.
  • Scripters: Scripters work on an as-needed basis to produce informative and engaging scripts for spotlight shorts, suspect test announcements, and mid-tournament recaps. The leader of this section is Maia.
  • YouTube Shorts and TikTok Contributors: Focused on quick turnarounds of smaller videos, contributors to this section largely create informational short-form content created in tandem with our social media spotlights, while also covering entertaining videos based on recent tournament games, metagame trends, and April's intrusive thoughts. The leader of this section is April.
