Announcement Smogon VGC Circuit 2024-2025

Welcome to another year of the Smogon VGC Circuit! Once again we will be running on a Fall 2024 - Fall 2025 calendar after a successful 23-24 season.

This year, we will be giving automatic invites to the circuit playoffs to each tournament winner, with the rest of the slots going to the top earners in circuit points. Prizes include a custom PS avatar, a Smogon profile banner, the prize winner rank in the VGC Showdown room, and permanent circuit champion role in the Smogon VGC Discord.

Two updates!

First off, the VGC Ladder Tournament will run two qualifying phases of 8 players during the weeks of November 11th-24th. Stay tuned for more info on that!

Secondly, The Smogon VGC Circuit will now award a ribbon for the 2024-2025 circuit winner! For those unfamiliar, this is a permanent marker that will stay on your profile to commemorate the winner's achievement. This does mean that we must run our circuit tournaments in the official circuit tournaments forum though. Starting from round 3 of the seasonal, every circuit tournament will be posted in the Other Circuits forum. The Smogon VGC Tournaments forum will be used only for team tournaments and other tournaments that do not count towards our circuit.

We now have a spreadsheet for the circuit standings, which you can view here

VGC Swiss has had slight edits to the point payout. Finishes outside of top cut are now awarded points based on final Swiss records, while the top cut point curve has been adjusted.

PSA - for all Smogon VGC circuit tournaments going forward, replays for games won in the top 16 stage of any tournament must be uploaded as soon as possible. Waiting to upload games days after the match is troll for the tournament host, other competitors, and spectators, so I'm going to make sure this is stopped. Between this post and the fact that this will be added to the OP of all future tournament threads, I will not hand out any additional warnings before assigning penalties.

"as soon as possible" is somewhat intentionally vague. If you're playing a match on mobile and can't post for a few more hours, fine, whatever. Waiting to upload your replays so you can avoid getting scouted for other tournaments is not my problem.
