So far, Undefeated Team

I wanted to post this team on here because I have been extremely successful with it, and I wanted to see what you guys thought about it. By successful, I mean that I have been involved in at least 50 plus battles with it, and haven't lost once. It should be noted that I do not play on Showdown, I just play 6 vs 6 battles on 3ds. Never played on Showdown. Now, I am not saying that this team cannot be beaten, as I absolutely know that it can (I have come very close to losing on a few occasions, and it's only a matter of time before I lose) In the times that I am close to losing, it is mainly because of the move "Knock Off" (gah.. I hate that move, I think its OP..but thats just my opinion), as well as Pokemon like Infernape. If people don't have those on their teams, I usually beat teams with at least 4 or 5 pokemon left. Anyway, enough talk: let's look at the team.

This is primarily a stall team, and all my pokemon have at least 5 ivs.

tentacruel.jpg
Name: Tentacruel

Nature: Bold Nature

Ability: Liquid Ooze

Item: Black Sludge

Moves: Surf, Toxic Spikes, Rapid Spin, Knock Off

Ev Spread:252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Sp Def

Tentacruel is typically my lead, but not always. Toxic Spikes is the go to move, and I usually try to throw 2 of these down (unless I see they have a poison type on their team, then I wait). Tentacruel also serves as my Knock Off user (grr. I hate that move, but I needed to have it), as well as my rapid spinner. I know that Scald is a popular choice because of its chance to burn the opposing team, but I felt like that would conflict with my theme of Toxic. Plus, Surf has a little bit more power. Maybe I should throw on Hydro Pump though? I just like moves being reliable and accurate, but the additional power might be useful?

Name: Dragonite

Nature: Adamant

Ability: Multiscale

Item: Leftovers

Moves: Earthquake, Fire Punch, Roost, Waterfall

EV Spread: 252 HP, 252 Attack, 4 Speed

Dragonite is my versatile pokemon. Not only is he really bulky, but he hits with three different types of moves, ground, fire, and water. Since I don’t have a fire user on my team (can be a weakness of my team) or a water user, Dragonite fills this void nicely. Earthquake helps as well in case my Gliscor is knocked out, and a lot of pokemon are weak to earthquake. I know Outrage is a common choice, as well as Dragon Dance, but those didn't seem to work for me as well as this set. I seem to play against people with a lot of Fairy Pokemon, and Outrage is an easy switch in.. plus I hate leaving my Pokemon vulnerable once he is confused. But, that’s just me.

upload_2014-3-18_18-23-50.jpeg

Name: Chansey

Nature: Bold

Ability: Natural Cure

Item: Eviolite

Moves: Toxic, Soft-Boiled, Seismic Toss, Aromatherapy

EV Spread: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Sp. Def

My huge tank, cleric pokemon. Chansey is extremely effective on my team, and prevents other pokemon teams from trying to do the same thing I do, stall with Toxic etc. The big problem with Chansey is Knock Off's new mechanics, it can really screw Chansey over. Barring Knock Off, Chansey is a huge staple on my team. Ive considered Blissey because of Knock off potentially messing up Chansey, but I have never really used her.. some additional comments on this would be appreciated. Ive heard that Chansey is just so much bulkier. I have also considered putting Sylveon in this position with Heal Bell, Wish, and Hyper Voice.

upload_2014-3-18_18-23-50.jpeg

Name: Gliscor

Nature: Impish

Ability: Poison Heal

Item: Toxic Orb

Moves: Earthquake, Protect, Substitute, Toxic

EV Spread: 244 HP, 40 Def, 224 Speed

Another toxic staller on my team. Toxic and Substitute with Protect are a very effective combo, as Im sure most people are aware. I have toyed with putting Knock Off on Gliscor, but I don’t know what move I would replace. Everything on here is just so usable.. I wish Gliscor had five moves!!! Gliscor is also surprisingly bulky. That ice weakness though!! Gah!! Regardless of that weakness, it is hard to catch Gliscor with that because of the substitute and protect that are typically used.

upload_2014-3-18_18-23-50.jpeg

Name: Aegislash

Nature: Quiet

Ability: Stance Change

Item: Leftovers

Moves: Toxic, Shadow Ball, Sacred Sword, King's Shield

EV Spread: 252 HP, 128 Def, 128 Sp. Def (something like that) (0 speed iv's)

Ive found a mixed Aegislash to be very effective on my team. Aegislash can hit with a special, as well as a physical. One downside to my team is the lack of fighting moves, as Aegislash is the only Pokemon on my team that knows a fighting type move. He is very effective at knocking out those Normal types though, as well as stalling. Because of my stall team mechanics, I threw on Toxic. Toxic is also on here because it is usually a very unexpected move on Aegislash. With Toxic, and King's Shield, Aegislash proves to be another great staller.

upload_2014-3-18_18-23-50.jpeg

Name: Ferrothorn

Nature: Relaxed

Ability: Iron Barbs

Item: Leftovers

Moves: Gyro Ball, Leech Seed, Protect, Stealth Rock

EV spread: 252 HP, 48 Def, 208 Sp. Def

Ferrothorn needs no real introduction as everyone is familiar with him at this point. Ferrothorn is the pokemon that tosses out my Stealth Rock. I used to have Spikes instead, but there are so many Heatrans and Talonflames running rampant in OU, I had to have stealth rock. I know that I can run both, but with leech seed, protect, and all the Toxic pokemon on my team, Ferrothorn helps to stall out as well. I used to prefer Spikes a lot more, and I am still thinking of putting it back on. Power Whip is another choice move on Ferrothorn, but I like Gyroball better since it tends to be more devastating because of how slow Ferrothorn is. He also OHKO’s just about every fairy, as well as taking out ¾ of most speedy pokemon’s health.

Well, that is my team. Like I said, I have seen a LOT of success with this team. That being said, I am very open to suggestions. Again, the weaknesses on my team are going against Pokemon teams that greatly utilize the move Knock Off (Bisharp and Mandibuzz, Im looking at you), as well as multiple fire and fighting type Pokemon such as Infernape. I think a team with a Cleric on their team as well would pose a problem, but ironically I haven’t faced too many. Aside from those weaknesses, this team takes things out! Let me know if you guys see things that could help those weaknesses out, because if there are teams that will beat this one, it will most likely be teams that have those, and I want to try to fill those gaps.

Hi Tagteam ! It seems to be a good team but I think you can change 2 or 3 things.

First, you don't have any priority to revenge kill. You should change Toxic for Shadow Sneak on Aegislash since you already have it on Chansey and Gliscor.

Then, as your team is very slow, you can change Toxic on Chansey with Thunder Wave, allowing Gliscor and Dragonite to outspeed more things.

And about Dragonite, you really should use a Dragon Dance set ( Dragon Dance, Fire Punch, Dragon Claw/Outrage, Extremespeed ). Without it, he can't do a lot of things imo. And give him weakness policy instead of leftovers. After a DD and a Weakness Policy boost, you can OHKO a lot of things, even if they are faster with Extremespeed.

Finally, Scald > Surf on Tentacruel. In a stall team, you have to go with a lot of passive damages and it will help you shut up physical threats.

Hoping I've been useful. Good luck !

Hey Adrima, thanks for the input!
Yeah, i have really considered putting shadow sneak on aegislash. Ill have to try it out, because i havent tested it yet.

I didnt put scald on Tentacruel because i didnt want the burn status to conflict with Toxic, and Surf had a bit more power. But i can see how it could help because it weakens the other teams attack. Forgot about that.

My problem with having Outrage on Dragonite is the Fairy issue. I run into lots of Faeries, and they love to switch on it. However, i think Dragon Dance would be a good addition. Ive never really considered weakness policy, but I can see it working. I had leftovers because it helps heal Dragonite back up to full strength to take advantage of multiscale. Ive never used ExtremeSpeed. Ill check into that. However, ive liked having Earthquake and waterfall as options because it makes Dragonite very versatile.

Hey, just curious, are you the guy from marriland forums that I have had some great battles with before? If not its funny because your team is remarkably similar to his playing style and I'm pretty sure on marriland he has the username tagteam as well, lol. Anyways back on topic, maybe you should try the spread of 252 def, 252 spdef, and 4 hp on chansey, that's what I use and it maximizes its bulk due to its HP stat being high enough to not need investment. And power whip may be better on ferrothorn than gyro ball because it hits bulky ground and water types very hard. Hope this helps, and if you are the guy I think you are, we need to battle again soon:)

Those are actually very good suggestions! Haha. And whats up man? Yeah, im the same one on marriland. You are the last person i lost against!! I have yet to beat you. I dont think ive played you with this team yet. I still remember your heatran!! Gah! We need to battle man. If i can beat you with this team, then i know its a good team.

I like your Aegislash set. Very innovative. It's a matter of taste. Do you go for 1 layer of tspikes or 2? Nvm I see you go for 2. I notice something like 4 out of your 6 mons poison. 1 layer of tspikes does more damage over two turns then 2 turns of toxic. Just a thought. In today's fast paced switch, two turns is all some guys want to stay in. If you're going to toxic anything, hit a wall. With just about all of your team running toxic, I think tspikes may be a little redundant. Either go for short term more damage 1 layer tspikes and save a move slot on a majority of your mons, or keep toxic on all of them and let Tenta do something else. Other options? Giga Drain for nice coverage on Swampert and Quagsire who otherwise wall you, Mirror Coat if you're a prediction master, Icy Wind to help vs Dragons, birdies and to generally slow a faster mon for easier sweep on the switch, haze to fuck over a booster, finally acid spray to sharply lower SpDef and help a SpAttacker sweep.

Hey, I saw you mentioned mega scizor, and if you want a set, here's one that you can use.

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 40 Atk / 252 HP / 216 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance / Defog
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite / U-Turn / Knock Off
- Roost

The evs give you very nice bulk while maintaining power. Swords dance is your best option here as it make bullet Punch hit hard, but defog is also OK. With roost, Scizor can stall out pokes Aswell.

Side note, you should say that your playing 3v3 on a ds, as this changes teambuilding ALOT. If you don't, people will assume its for showdown/PO

Thank you for the Scizorite suggestions. I like Knock Off on Scizor, but i cannot get it on him because I don't have Black or White 2. I used to have an impish nature Scizor that fit really well on my team. I appreciate that suggestion very much.
