Solrock @ Flying Gem
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rock Polish
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Acrobatics
Is that a bird? A plane? No, it's Solrock! Solrock is a fierce sweeper that can set up on some common defensive Pokemon such as Muk or even offensive Pokemon like non-Taunt Emolga, Muk, and Persian thanks to its natural typing. After a Rock Polish, it outspeeds the whole tier and can then threaten neutral damage thanks to the combination of Stone Edge + Earthquake hitting common foes such as Simisear, Heatmor, Emolga, Pawniard, Raichu, and Lairon hard. To facilitate its sweeping capabilities, Solrock opts for Flying Gem-boosted Acrobatics, which lets in muscle past would-be checks that can take one hit from Solrock such as Leafeon and Mienfoo. With a bit of chip damage, it can even KO bulkier foes such as Meganium and Ivysaur. Solrock is best used on offensive teams that can weaken foes to let it sweep in late-game scenarios where its checks such as Clefairy, Wormadam-S, and opposing defensive Solrock have been weakened. It appreciates having partners that can come in safely on those Pokemon such as Muk, Simisear, and Grumpig. It also appreciates Grass-type partners such as Meganium that can come in safely on would-be offensive checks such as Kingler and Whiscash.
