So, my rating with this team was 1500 and climbing before I changed main alts, but I don't know if it's because the team's good or because everyone else sucked .-.
I'm fairly new to competitive teambuilding, so this is partly planned and partly just thrown together. I'm fairly new to posting as well, so don't expect anything pretty. Or anything at all other than text, for that matter. Also - again, fairly new to competitive teambuilding, so most of the EVs are based on stuff from Smogon. Please advise on spreads that aren't awful. Thank you ^^
Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers
252 HP, 8 Def, 240 SpD, 8 Spe
Ability - Intimidate
Careful Nature
Stealth Rock
Earthquake
U-Turn
Stone Edge
Lando is definitely a strong Pokemon in OU, and a good hazard setter on this team because he's decently bulky and can still hit decently hard without investment because of his massive base Attack. U-turn is also useful for getting things in without damage (since with only 8 EVs for Speed, he gets outsped by a good deal of things) and for hitting slow Pokemon that can be dealt with better by other team members (Slowbro and Ferrothorn come to mind). Stealth Rock is (of course) self-explanatory, and EQ + Stone Edge provides offensive coverage, since Lando doesn't really have a whole bunch of other support moves. I think.
Ferrothorn @ Choice Band
248 HP, 252 Atk, 8 SpD
Ability - Iron Barbs
Brave Nature
Power Whip
Gyro Ball
Bulldoze
Explosion
It looks like a gimmick, but Choice Band Ferro can actually deal lots of damage with a decent 94 base Attack and powerful STABs in Power Whip and Gyro Ball. It easily takes out Sylveon and Lati@s, and also can be a general lure for Pokemon who normally take advantage of Ferrothorn's usual lack of offensive presence to set up. Power Whip and Gyro Ball are, as aforementioned, powerful STABs, Bulldoze dings Heatran switch-ins that don't have Air Balloon, and Explosion...is just kinda there. If anyone has a better idea for the 4th moveslot, please let me know.
Slowbro-Mega @ Slowbronite (duh)
252 HP, 252 Def, 4 SpA
Ability - Shell Armor
Bold Nature
Calm Mind
Scald
Rest
Sleep Talk
Classic CroBro(I think that's the term? From CroCune of, like, 4th generation? Right?). The main physical wall of the team, and it's probably won me about half my matches. It's practically indestructible after a few CMs (although sometimes setting those up is hard), and with 130 base SpA - even mostly uninvested - it hits pretty hard. Scald is insanely annoying, and RestTalk provides fairly reliable recovery.
Sylveon @ Leftovers
252 HP, 4 SpA, 252 SpD
Ability - Pixilate
Calm Nature
Hyper Voice
Heal Bell
Wish
Protect
Since this entire team is really weak to status, Sylveon is an excellent cleric with the added benefit of Wishpassing to make up for the overall lack of recovery (Leftovers aside). It's also the main special wall of the team, being much bulkier than Landorus-T. Protect allows Sylveon to heal itself easily (though making it easy to set up on or get a free switch if your opponent's smart) as well, while Hyper Voice deals a decent amount of damage even without investment due to Sylveon's decent 110 base SpA and the boost from Pixilate.
Thundurus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
252 SpA, 4 SpD, 252 Spe
Ability - Volt Absorb
Modest Nature
Focus Blast
Volt Switch
Sludge Bomb
Thunderbolt
The team's revenge killer and late-game cleaner. I chose Therian over Incarnate since it has more power, and with a Choice Scarf it still hits around 450 Speed with a Modest nature - enough to outspeed pretty much anything else without a Scarf, and also +1 Dragonite, Gyarados, and Altaria-Mega. Volt Switch is used for momentum and VoltTurn, Thunderbolt is strong STAB, Focus Blast dings Ferrothorn, Excadrill, and Heatran, and Sludge Bomb hits Celebi, Altaria-Mega, Clefable, and Breloom.
Gyarados @ Leftovers
88 HP, 192 Atk, 4 Def, 224 Spe
Ability - Intimidate
Adamant Nature
Dragon Dance
Substitute
Waterfall
Bounce
On to the final team member, Gyarados. With Intimidate and natural special bulk, it's fairly bulky, and since I usually lead with Lando-T I can U-Turn out second turn or on a disadvantage for the double Intimidate. It also acts as the team's main sweeper, since it's the only one that can really outspeed anything and still be able to change moves. Substitute blocks burns and Ferro's T-Wave and Leech Seed and provides a safety net for Electric-type moves, Waterfall is strong reliable STAB, and Bounce hits Water resists.
So yeah, that's my probably really crappy OU bulky offense (?) team. Tell me what you think and make suggestions, please and thank you ^^
