I have been away from playing Pokémon for a while and started to jump back again recently. I wanted to build a Bulky Offense team that used Future Sight Mega Slowbro. Future Sight Mega Slowbro is an interesting Pokémon as it can check many things that can normally wall it or counters to other team members. I've had some success with this team, but am looking to improve it as it is my favorite team at the moment.

The Team
Shuffle380.png

Latias @ Electrium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Roost
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

Latias serves a couple of roles on this team. First and foremost, she is the setup sweeper of the team with a Calm Mind + Roost set. Second she serves as the check to bulky Water-types running Electrium Z and Thunderbolt. Latias is one of my favorite Pokémon throughout my years playing yet this was the first time I've used her without any STAB moves as I've really enjoyed the coverage of the BoltBeam combo.

Shuffle464.png

Rhyperior (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 212 HP / 44 Atk / 252 Def
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Stone Edge

When it comes to tanks that can set up Stealth Rocks, Rhyperior is the first to always come to my mind. I like that he has such a high HP, ATK, and DEF and when he can come in, he can get rocks up reliably. The EVs on this Rhyperior allow it to survive +2 Bisharp and +2 Offensive Scizor, even possibly tanking a +4 hit from either.

Shuffle212.png

Scizor (F) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 164 HP / 252 Atk / 92 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- U-turn

Scizor acts as my team's revenge killer with Bullet Punch's priority. She also plays the role of a Pursuit trapper to take care of Ghost and Psychic-types as well as finishing off some Pokémon that try to switch it. Furthermore, U-turn on Scizor allows it to be one half of a VoltTurn core with the team.

Shuffle080M.png

Slowbro (M) @ Slowbronite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Bold Nature
- Slack Off
- Future Sight
- Ice Beam
- Scald

The Pokémon that I mainly wanted to use when building this team. Slowbro is one of my favorite Gen I Pokémon and I never had the chance to use Mega Slowbro before as I am primarily a UU player, but when I came back to playing here he was in the UU-tier. As mentioned in the introduction, I really like running Future Sight on Slowbro as it allows him to take care of certain walls and checks that normally could outlive Slowbro otherwise and it helps support the rest of the team that need that extra damage or a forced switch in order to get momentum.

Shuffle700.png

Sylveon (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 240 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA / 12 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Shadow Ball

As I was putting together this team, I noticed that there would be likely problems dealing with opposing Dragon-types whether in the form of opposing Latias's, Mega Altarias, or Hydreigons. Also with the recent drop of Mega Sableye to UU, I wanted something that could OHKO it. Thus I chose Sylveon and not just any Sylveon, but my favorite Sylveon set, Choice Specs. This allows my team to continue its bulky offense strategy without having to give up the offensive momentum that a wall set otherwise would.

Shuffle479O.png

Rotom-Heat @ Wiki Berry

Ability: Levitate
EVs: 236 HP / 20 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Will-O-Wisp
- Overheat
- Volt Switch

Finally, we have the Defogger of the team. I wanted the best Defogger I could get that could also deal with opposing Scizors and Rotom-Heat seemed like the best choice to me. Will-O-Wisp was chosen over Toxic since I'm running an offensive team and so felt it was more of priority to lower ATK stats than trying to stall out opponents. Volt Switch also allows Rotom-Heat to be the other half of the VoltTurn core of this team.

------

So there is the team I am mainly using at the moment. Let me know your thoughts and any suggestions you may have to improve it. Thank you.

Hey Nicklypuff really nice team you have here. Sorry for the delay on this rate, the stuff I had saved got deleted. I've been having a lot of fun testing around with Future Sight Slowbro and I know how difficult it is to play around on the recieving end. This playstyle requires teammates that can force a lot of switches to make the most advantage of this, so you have the correct approach of having this more offensive orriented squad. However, there are a few issues I think need to be addressed. The team is very reliant on CB Bullet Punch as speed control to handle fast threats like Scarf Krook & Hydra, Zeraora, Mega-Manectric etc. making revenging them very difficult. Phys Def Rhyperior isn't very effective for it to handle the electric types it is supposed to check as well as Moltres. Specs Sylveon is very niche, especially when it has to compete for the role against Specs Primarina and you are right to address using the bulky set would drain momentum. Finally I think the stall match-up needs a bit of improvement for Future Sight Bro + Scizor to muscle through it. With all this in mind I'll get into it:

Major Changes:

cobalion.png
>
rhyperior.png
: Cobalion fits nicer here as an offensive rocker that more reliably handles the likes of Scizor and Bisharp better which are threatening for the team. Cobalion being able to handle pretty much any variant of Scizor bar Superpower which takes pressure off Rotom-H which performs the role of a Defog and flying check. Cobalion checks and discourages dark types freely spamming their stabs and forces them out meaning they can't always be used to tank the Future Sight. I shifted the Fightinium-Z onto this due to my next change.

krookodile.png
>
latias.png
: Krookodile provides you with several things on this squad. It gives you the speed control it was lacking to handle the faster threats I previously listed. It gives you a resistance to ghost types which had an easy time threatening the team especially Substitute Gengar and Hoopa. It retains the ground typing with replacing Rhyperior which helps against the electric types. Between this and Slowbro you can keep pivoting around Terrakion effectively. Stone Edge to ease the match-up against Moltres and Maero.

togekiss.png
>
sylveon.png
: As I mentioned Specs Sylveon is pretty niche and I also felt it needed to be replaced because triple choice locked Pokemon isn't ideal. I replaced Sylv with Togekiss which adds a lot of utility to the team without giving up too much pressure. Togekiss provides the team with a better check to Krookodile which could be annoying. It also eases the stall match-up making you less reliant on Scizor to break through it. The Heal Bell support is also really appreciated if any of these members have to take a Burn or Toxic. It also mitigates the presence of bulky waters like CM Slowbro and Suicune by beating them 1vs1 which Lati previously achieved.

Minor Changes:

scizor.png
(Move Change): Double Pursuit is nice, but I don't think it is overly necessary with Krooks addition. Instead I suggest using Bug Bite which is very threatening with a Choice Band. You can 2OHKO Alo with some chip and 2OHKO Quag after SR. In conjunction with Future Sight it makes pressuring and breaking them easier. It helps it break through other Pokemon like Amoonguss better and can eat the berry from Rotom-H too. Knock Off is also a decent option for punishing Pokemon like Doublade too.

rotom-heat.png
(Optional Change): I think Thunder Wave > Toxic has a lot of merit for helping out Togekiss and Cobalion etc. The team has a pretty easy time threatening ground types imo. It just makes handling faster threats it lures in like Terrakion, Latias and Hydra easier to handle. This is pretty optional as Toxic is still nice for whittling down its checks etc.

slowbro.png
(Nature Change): You can run a more offensive variant by just using a Modest nature to get the most out of future sight. The Bold nature is nice for always living 2 Stone Edge from Maero after rocks in regular form, but Scizor+Krook+Cobalion help alleviate this too. I just gave it enough Speed for Adamant Doublade which you can 2OHKO with Scald after SR in regular or garuanteed 2OHKO after Mega evolution from full.

I hope you like the suggestions and it proves effective for you. There are quite a few things you can try out as I pointed out like, the status you carry on Rotom-H or the last move on Scizor. There are still a few threatening Pokemon you have to play carefully around such as NP Ape and Specs Prima. The former is handled by Slowbro if not a random Grass Knot variant + only sets up on Krook or Scizor locked into a resisted move. Prima switch-ins are pretty non-existnent, but you pressure it offensively very easily. If you have any questions just let me know ^_^

Hi Nicklypuff, I agree with a lot that was said in Twilight's post but I decided to post because I took a slightly different approach, and I thought that you'd appreciate the different versions. I think Future Sight Slowbro has a lot of potential but I also believe that teams can benefit the most from it with adequate offensive pressure, which this team in general doesn't provide with Specs Sylveon as the main breaker. Most Steel-types can easily switch into Sylveon and almost nullify the Future Sight (see: Empoleon) so that's what I tried to fix first here. Stall matchup could also be better with something that takes better advantage of Future Sight and a decent Krookodile check is warranted too.

terrakion.png

first thing I did to fix the issue with the offensive pressure was to replace Latias with CB Terrakion, giving you a way more reliable breaker that can actually pierce through anything that tries to switch into Future Sight (Hydreigon, Steel-types, Special Walls, etc), while also improving your stall matchup a whole lot. Electrium Z Latias made sense since Empoleon is such a threat to Future Sight teams, but the problem is that then you need a strong breaker to back it up against fatter teams, and that requires more slots, so I decided to follow a different route.

tentacruel.png
>
rotom-heat.png
this is where Knock Off Tentacruel comes in. Since I wanted some way to tackle the issue with Empoleon after removing Latias, I replaced Rotom-H with Tentacruel, keeping the Scizor check/remover slot intact, but giving you a much bigger breathing room against Empoleon. Knock Off helps you win the Scald wars by removing its Leftovers (and Icium Z makes it even more durable). Made it bulkier than usual to be able to check Scizor better, and I don't think the lesser Speed investment will make a huge impact.

togekiss.png

sylveon.png
reasoning here is pretty simple, Togekiss instead of Sylveon is the best way to keep the Hydreigon matchup intact, while also providing the team with an actual Krookodile check. Standard Nasty Plot/Heal Bell makes it a more reliable bulky Water/Ground check than Latias, going as far as beating bulky Primarina which has been trending for a while and you're quite weak to.

removing Latias also made the team much weaker to Celebi, and since there was no other form of speed control, I thought Scarf Scizor made perfect sense. Can also catch opposing Latias off guard which is a big plus since this is the main check.

I kept Rhyperior because I wouldn't have been able to fix all of this while also accounting for the Ground/Moltres check slot, and it's actually a pretty dope choice now that Manectric mostly runs HP Ice. I tried your spread but I ended up making it the standard SpDef heavy spread, since I found that taking ~20% instead of 30%~w/ Leftovers recovery made a huge difference when fighting Manectric, especially since you'll want to use this to check other stuff. Besides, you shouldn't be tanking any hits from Bisharp/Scizor anyway, unless it's unavoidable, and even then you have solid checks in the back for both of them. Also changed Slowbro's spread to the analysis one, Modest > Bold and enough Speed for Doublade.

Main things to note with this version is that since it's Scarf Scizor instead of Band, you're gonna have to play more carefully around Mega Altaria. Since it doesn't have a lot of chances to come in, I'd just avoid letting Scizor take any damage so that it can tank +1 Returns later in the game, and you should be good. Playing Specs Primarina requires prediction but I would refrain from pivoting to Tentacruel since it lacks Sludge Wave, it should only be used to make them hesitant to click stabs. Slowbro is usually the safest pivot, and you can use it as an opportunity to Future Sight.

Hope this helps, have fun testing.

Thanks Surgeon, testing this version out as well. I think both versions are good and have some advantages over the other so it is about finding the one to match my play style most.
